  1. If you do not put that V12 into that Z, I will hunt you down and do horrible, nasty things to your dog. I love the LS1 and RB26DETT installs, but that would be sweetest thing ever.
  2. Oh sorry, I assume everybody drives a 240.
  3. The action above ended with zero bids. You may be able to contact the guy and set up a deal.
  4. It will probably be too late by the time you see this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419110005&category=34207 2 1/2 hours left as of 06/16/03 06:30am cst.
  5. Having spent the last week or so researching various brake options and looking at what is available for other vehicles, I’ve come to the conclusion that your premium “extreme†front package is a good deal. Are you working on a similar package for the rears? Have you considered making a slightly less “extreme†package? Say something like… Anodized 6061-T6 Billet hats 12.2†X 1.25†rotors, Caliper Mount brackets, 2 piston / 1 Piston Calipers (PBR or 1998+ LS1 Powered GM Vehicles (F-body, Corvette) OEM Calipers. (Possibly Nissan Z32 Calipers?) Optional 4 lug (Honda pattern) or 5 lug (GM pattern) conversion. Ideally, with provisions for an E-Brake. You could sell complete 4 wheel kits or divide it into front and back kits. You could sell individual components (i.e. hats and caliper mount brackets) and allow the buyer to source his own rotors and calipers. How much am I looking to spend? I don't know. Less than $2000.00 for a complete four wheel setup maybe. P.S. when I spoke of the “budget stuff†(Hodge Podge) I wasn’t necessarily refering to your stuff. And I also think the 2 Piston PBR Calipers are very "aesthetically" pleasing. Dare I say... "Sexy."
  6. There is always the junkyard, but an alternative is to have your's restored. Just Dashes can restore your dash. and so can Dash Export Service's and probably for less than the guys above.
  7. What, if anything, have you done about the E-Brake. What is the Caliper mount hole spacing? (ie 3.5" or 5" )
  8. Some folks like me opted for Mazda Miata Seats... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419057510&category=33701 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2418788476&category=33701 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419094422&category=33701 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419262338&category=33701 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2418590385&category=33701
  9. Correction: The pair weighed 72lbs.
  10. There was somebody on this forum who was contemplating an entire rear-sub-frame swap with a '80's Supra. I don't know what came of it.
  11. I recently had a pair of Miata seats shipped to me. The pair weighed 74lbs.
  12. This has probably been posted before, but I've never seen it, so I thought I'd share it. Here is a real nice, but a little expensive, alternative to the MSA pedal set-up. Real Billet aluminum, with 3 Styles to choose from. Availible at DS Racing for about $90.00us (I'm not associated with them in any way)
  13. I was in no way trying to imply the Ross’s stuff was over-priced or low quality. I was simply stating that… 1.The top of the line stuff was good and it is nice to see it the form of a complete kit, but it is expensive. 2.The Budget stuff was good, but incomplete. You must out-source many of the components. And in the end, you do end up with a high quality, functional system. But, it is a hodge-podge of a sort. And unlike the kit mentioned above it does not have an “Aesthetically pleasing appearance.†IMHO. 3.That maybe, there is an opportunity to fill the in-between market, where I think a majority of us fall, with a complete, safe, durable, good performing, aesthetically pleasing, brake upgrade for a street Z car that is priced similarly to other systems available for the Z and other cars. Looking back it was unfair to compare Ross’s high-end kit to Arizona Z Car’s Low-end kit, as the low-end AZC kit does not covert to five–lug, and though I cannot find a price on a PBR caliper, I am convinced by Ross’s post above, that the PBR is higher quality (e.g. higher price) than the Wilwood calipers that the AZC kits use. Also, with the low-end AZC kit you must out-source (i.e. Pick-N-Pull) 280Z front hubs. I guess my frustration at the high cost of putting modern brakes on an old car got the better of me. My apologies to any who were offended.
  14. They are also sometimes called Angel Ring, Halo Lights, and Daylight Demon Eyes and I think you can get 'em here. You can also make your own. (you can get round acrylic rods here )
  15. First understand that I’m not trying to be critical of Ross C’s stuff. I think he is contributing much the early Z-Car world, and offers great products. I will one day get the CV adapters, Wheel-spacers (and / or 5-lug conversion) and maybe even take advantage of the quite reasonably priced, Quaife deal. But, I sense a vacume in between the extreme and buget disc brake setups. $1200.00 is pretty steep for one end of the car only. I’m sure it’s appropriately priced, but way above my head, especially considering I can get a four wheel disc brake setup from Arizona Zcar for about $1400.00. On the other end of the spectrum you have your “Z Rear Disk Brake Package†deal plus the Toyota 4X4 mod for the front. A guy can have a decent four wheel disk setup for probably under $750.00. But it’s kind of a mix-match / junkyard parts deal. What I would like to see is something in between the extreme and the bare-budget setups. Something for us folks who want a good street / strip / autocross setup, but without breaking the bank or having to pick through the local U-Pull-It. Something like the Baer “Serious Street†system. (10" to 12" vented rotors, quality DOT four piston calipers, etc...) A combination of the Baer “SPORT System 2†(PBR calipers, 12.0x1.10" rotors, ) up front and Baer Claw “TOURING System 1†(PBR calipers, 12.0x0.81" rotors) in the rear for a 1996 Mustang would cost around $1750.00. Though this is more than a street Z needs, I would pay that for such a setup for my Z.
  16. Are these for the front only, or are they for all four corners?
  17. Here's a pic showing what I'm talking about. I couldn't show what I think the back-lighting would look like due to the low resolution of the picture. (It's a heavily modified version of BRAD D's picture)
  18. I had an idea for all aluminum center section (A/C control, Radio, etc…) that I thought was original until I saw BRAD D’s laser cut panel. Nice job! My idea was a bit different though. At the top where he has two gauges I was going to put two WEMAC “eyeball†air vents, and if room permits, a gauge of some sort. For the bottom section I was going to stick in a Alpine CDA-9807 because it's a nice unit, it looks aluminum, and has blue lighting. For the A/C control section I had several ideas to achieve the same basic effect of blue back- lighting. First was to bond a piece of .020" aluminum to a .250" piece of acrylic Plexiglas and machine the control slots and fan switch hole. Then have somebody (Trophy shop?) engrave through the aluminum the text. Then using blue LED's to create the back-lighting. My second idea was basically the same but to replace the LED's with a Electroluminescent sheet. The third idea was to sandwich together Plexiglas (and/or aluminum), Electroluminescent sheet, and finally a custom cut brushed chrome vinyl sheet I have friend who has the equipment to cut custom vinyl. I was also planning on making all aluminum A/C control knobs. (I have access to a mill and Lathe.) I though all of this would look nice with SpeedHuts's EL Gauge faces. (reverse EL-Glo). But it's not looking good for those gauge faces. Simply not enough orders. I am now concidering making my own with more custom vinyl and Electroluminescent sheet.

  20. Still looking for 12 more orders. Come on, you know you want to.
  21. LOL! (well, only a chuckle really, but you get my point.) Have you done any measurements. Like the overall width of the whole Supra rear subframe as compared to the Z? I had an '83 Supra, and it seems to me the Supra was a tad wider than the Z. (just guessing) Here's a link to a guy that did a complete rear subframe swap from a 1982-86 Toyota Supra to a 1983 Celica. (Pretty good pictures) http://celica-gts.com/how-to_rear_end_swap.shtml
  22. Ramble away, it's interesting information. The idea of using the entire Supra rear subframe is intriguing. Do you think it can handle the torque of an LS-1?
  23. I recently picked up this LSD Differential for the low, low price of $25.00, (the guy didn't know what it was) and I am pretty sure it came from a 198x Toyota Celica GT-S or a Supra. I've only had time to pull off the rear cover, so I don't really know anything like Ring Gear bolt size or stub axle teeth and stuff like that. (There are no markings that I can find on the case.) My question is this: Can this carrier be put into an R200? Thanks!
