  3. Wow, wish I'd know about http://www.mcmaster.com a long time ago. Neat place.
  4. Well, have you? Seems to me it would make a good swap for a street car. The N/A M3 engine (E46) makes 330+ Hp.
  5. 666Z -- Beastly Z, Demon Z, etc.. ZEN -- enlightenment QUICK Z -- I saw this on a High-9 Sec. (NOS) Hybrid Z in Riverside Ca. IBQUICK -- Saw this on a Porsche 944 (Non-Turbo, he was dreaming ) ZEXY -- For Z drivers of the female pursuasion. ZEDHEAD -- For us Z Freaks
  6. I was just toying with the idea. I will probably pay a pro to do any major bodywork I need. I have very little experieince at it. I'm a nuts and bolts guy.
  7. That's an interesting thread, but old. Time for some new ideas. The only personalize plate I evfer had was "JETMECH". I was a Jet Engine mechanic in the USAF and now I maintain Corporate / Personal jets. Here are some explantions for my ideas above just in case nobody "gets it." 1. Z -- Simple. Subtle, yet bold. 2. Zing -- As in "Zing right past you." 3. Zig Zag -- omage to the 300ZX (Z32) ads ("When everybodys zigs.... Zag") 4. Zoinks -- The sound that Honda drivers make after you pass them at Mach 2. 5. Zoooom -- For our Miata freinds (ZOOM ZOOM won't fit on a plate. 6. Zamari -- Samari 7. No Nawz -- For our "Fast And Furious" freinds. 8. Rut Roe -- sound that Honda driver makes when he sees you in the rear-veiw. 9. UR Slow -- Self explanitory...I hope. (You Are Slow)
  8. It's in the block valley. http://media.gm.com/division/powertrain/press_kits/northstar_pdf/02_engine_technical_features/20_starter_motor.pdf
  9. Though it would make a great drag racer, that solid rear axle kills any chance of it making a good road racer. I saw a similar set-up (Z-Car+355cid+NOS+Ford 9") runs high 9's at Riverside.
  10. Z (My fav.) Zing Zig Zag Zoinks (my 2nd Fav.) Zoooom (for my miata freinds) Zamari No Nawz Rut Roe UR Slow Any other ideas?
  11. Check out this thread over at Zdriver... http://zdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=6054 Rear disc brake conversion done with 1986 Pontiac 6000 STE parts.
  12. Brad D, I think it looks good. Not over-done. Tasteful. The wing is pushing the envelope though. What gets me about that Anti-ricer page is that it makes the same false statement that all anti-ricer people seem to make. They say that a wing serves no purpose on a FWD car. Truth is that they serve the same purpose as the do RWD cars. It help keeps the back following the front-end in the twisties. Why else would professional FWD (European Touring Car) racers use them? I do agree that these huge wings serve little or no purpose on street cars. Most of the wings are so poorly designed that they would hurt a real race-cars performance. My 2 cents. "All wing and bling, bling = NO Zing!" --me
  13. Corvette ZR1 LT5 $7,500.00

  15. Guess I've been listening to too many old-timers.
  16. The reason is that you get more stable fill. Bondo and the sheet metal of a car have different heat expansion rates. This is what leads many bondo jobs to crack after only a few years. The Lead/Tin mixture expansion rate is more in tune with the sheet metal. ( I won't say the same, just much closer). I think if you look at the top (- "Concourse Quality") restoration work, you will see very little Bondo and lot of lead. Then again, maybe Bonda has gotten better since I last use it 10 years ago. Is there in fact a more stable Bondo that I'm not aware of?
  17. LOL! I guess he got his answer.
  18. If it's from an US '81 280Z(X) chances of it being an LSD are very close to ZERO, unless someone put one in it, 'cause the factory did not. The way to tell is to jack up the rear of the car, make sure it is out of gear and turn one wheel. If it is an LSD the opposite wheel will turn the same direction. If the other wheel does not turn or turns in the opposite direction, you got yourself a peg-leg (non LSD, Open Diff.).
  19. Jim Kirk from Dashboard Restorations has made an offer over at the Classic Z Car Forum Just though you'd like to know, and maybe get a chance to participate.
  20. A guy over a Classic Z Car Club got a quote from the austrailian company for $582.00usd + $150.00usd for roundtrip shipping from Florida to Washington state.
  21. I had no idea which forum to stick this in, so here you go. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2420347443&category=46093
