  1. Another alternative is Air-Tech Coatings Inc.'s "Hard Deck".
  2. I have freinds who swear by Devilbiss. ...and I hear that 'Binks are a good alternative.
  3. I found the pic at www.240z.org. I think the manifold was made by these folks... http://www.bigbutton.com.au/~maddat/manifolds.htm (scroll to the bottom of the page) That's all the info I have.
  4. I think that's a IQ meter at the lower left.
  5. I know nothing about this motor other than it's a Twin Turbo L-28.
  6. A single big turbo takes longer to spool-up. meaning big lag. Twin small turbos spool-up quicker providing less lag, and provides the same amount of boost.
  7. For a LSD (R200 Type) look for 1987-1989 300ZX Turbo. Best ratio would depend on what transmission your using.
  8. Few more facts about the new GM Vortech 4200. It's all aluminum. Dual Overhead Cam (4 Valves per cylinder) HorsePower = 270 @ 6000 rpm Torque = 275 @ 3600 rpm Now you have to ask yourself; What transmissions will work with this engine?
  9. New on eBay today: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1844922785
  10. Hey they stole my idea! (see page 1) Yep, it's a Miata.
  11. $600.00--Gulp! I think I'll use a combination of chemical and sanding. Thanks for the ideas!
  12. Fair Weather Daily Driver & Stang-Spanker. Possible Auto-X and Open Track Day toy. Maybe, occasional 1/4-miler.
  13. Space Shuttle Prototype? Junkyard Wars 747? MiG-25 Cockpit?
  14. Thanks for FAQ link Jeromio. Some interesting info to found there. Would have liked to seen more pictures of a R230 installation though. In fact, If I decide to go with an R200 + after-market LSD, I now know to look for one of these... 280ZX Manual from 6/78 to 6/79 - R200 300ZX Non-Turbo - R200 Does anybody know the ratios of the various R230's Z32 Manual? Z32 Automatic? Q45 Man / Auto?
  15. Thnaks, for the info about "All Z Car specialists" I'll keep it on file. Actually, a CV shaft update has always been in my plans. I am a little confused as to what's involved though. I've search these forums and can find no definitve procedures. Imagine I get a R200 from a 87-89 300ZXT. What do I need to do to install it and CV Shafts in my '73 240Z? Imagine I get a R200 from a 280Z and Install a LSD From MSA. What do I need to do to install it and CV Shafts in my '73 240Z? Imagine I get a R230 from a 300ZXTT. (or Q45) What do I need to do to install it and CV Shafts in my '73 240Z? Boy, if somebody could answers those questions or point me at website where detailed procedures are outlined, I would be one happy Z-boy. Thanks for the info, I'll get a catalog and inquire about the availibility of R200 LSD units.
  16. Thanks! I just read through a bunch of the R200/LSD post in this forum and I think I have it figure it out. 87-89 300ZX Turbo. (Automatic or Manual) Time to get on the phone and search the easy way. (Yellow Jacket Free)
  17. Don't forget www.ztherapy.com These guys can make your SU's better than new.
  18. I checked the Reider Racing website, and don't see any mention of Nissan or R200 diffs. Is this some special order thing? Have you considered a MSA's LSD, or a Quaife unit? Me? I'm going to hold out for an original R200 LSD for a while. I got lots of other things to do to my car right now. If it comes down to it, I pull a JY R200 and get MSA's LSD or a Quaife.
  19. If the demension allow it, my first choice would be 300ZX (Z32) Seats: My second choice are '95-ish Mazda Miata seats: I prefer both in black leather.
  20. I just spent half the day crawling around junk yards in search of the elusive R200 LSD. Now I know why these things are considered "Golden." I guy I work with told me there was Z31 turbo in our local "U-Pull-It." I guess that's the last time I take the word of a GTO guy. There were three Z31's, but not one turbo. There was one 280ZX NA and two 280Z's, one of which appeared to be in good shape. Real pity to see it in a junk yard, it had potential. So I snagged its hatch stays and front turn signals. And for this act of desecration of this Z, I was punished by a Yellow Jacket who had made a home in the left hand head-light bucket. Ouch! To make sure I got this right, would somebody please confirm the Z’s that had R200 LSD’s. So far, I think it’s… 280ZX Turbo 280ZX 2+2 300ZX Turbo (Z31) . . . am I wrong? And, 280Z’s had open R200’s?
  21. On my first '73 240Z I swapped the entire intake, carb's and linkage from a '72 240Z. ('73's have same basic carb. setup as '74 260Z's) It was very easy to do. Only took an hour or so, and it worked perfectly. There are several early SU setups on eBay to choose from. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1843906331 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1843588245 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1842754558
  22. It's 1988, and definitely non-turbo. I've decided I don't want it. About the only usefull part to me would be the R200. The half-shafts would be too long for my 240. (I think)
  23. Can somebody post the demensions of the origianl seats? I don't have orignal seats in mine, so I can't do it. It would be a great help for those of us on the "great seat hunt." I think the three most important demensions would be... 1. Width at the widest point across the seat base. 2. Height from floor to seat back top. 3. Height from floor to seat base top. I think a set of 300ZX (Z32) leather seats would be the poop.
  24. I have the oppertunity to get a complete, but well worn 300ZX (Z31) for $500.00. My question is this. Are there really enough compatible parts on the car that I can use on my '73 240Z to justify the cost?
