  2. Do not discount swapping the entire IRS. It has been done and discussed here and the the effort and cost might equal the cost and "ingenuity" needed to pull off the 3 major issues listed by blackbeaut. In the end you get what you want and a more modern/better rear suspension.
  3. I am sure a lot of thought went into your nice repsonse but I have a couple of comments. Cannot disagree with the "outdated" statement. However, this V8 engine is 3.14L per bank/turbo and the GN engine is 3.8L. Unless he is looking to make well over 700hp, I am not sure this is a valid statement. I hope I am not misinterpreting what you are saying but he is running 8psi and I interpret this statement as saying 8psi = 4psi per turbo.
  4. This all brings us back to the old debate on comparing dyno results.
  5. CONGRATS!! That is a great start considering the altitude and low boost. Have no concerns about your turbo choice, you have more than enough. First thing you do is get used to driving that thing at WOT then start bringing the boost up a little at a time. Good luck.
  6. Keep in mind that track is measured from the center point of the tire tread. The FD uses an 8" wheel so the track measurement is from the 4" mark of each wheel. However, since the FD wheel has about a 6" BS, the actual hub-to-hub width is going to 4" wider than the track. Hope that makes sense.
  7. Incredible craftmanship. Must be well over, way over, 6-figures in that car. I like the color for a race/show car but the graphics ruined it.
  8. Bust a gut every time I read that one. Speaking of Geo, check out the Geo in the latest issues of Hot Rod and Car Craft.
  9. Think about it. $16.95, minus tax, minus the store's profit, minus the middle-man's cut, minus the manufacturer's profit. How much did it cost to make thing? What kind of quality could it possibly have?
  10. pj, with that much power, I would run an oil cooler. The FC RX7 oil cooler is a nice piece. Using one in my car with about 550rwhp (when fully tuned). Prices will vary on eBay from just a few $$ to $80+. Here is an example of a "cheap" one that ends soon and has no bids probably because it has a dent at the bottom and is filthy. The dented part is not a tube so has no effect on functionality. It is cheap enough that shipping to Norway might make it worthwhile + 2 cans of brake cleaner http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oil-Cooler-Lines-Mazda-Rx-7-Rx7-Turbo-II-GXL-GTU-13B_W0QQitemZ8033364796QQcategoryZ46095QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Other cars you look at for a used unit are the Jaguar XJ6 and SAAB 9000 turbo. My daily driver is a SAAB 9000 and it has a nice piece. Another good buy on eBay are Setrab coolers used in NASCAR. They are dual pass and prices will vary but probably a little higher than the OEMs. I am not against spending big $$$ for an aftermarket cooler but some of the OEM coolers are really good pieces. BTW, make sure you know where/how the cooler will be mouned especially if you have a FMIC. Also keep in mind you could find a good cheap cooler but end up spending more for lines and fittings.
  11. Anyone know how to get or have a copy of the original vid that John posted. My laptop crapped out and I lost most of my vids and pics and would like to get this one back.
  12. Dont mind looking at it if it is not too much of a hassle for me. Do not rely on me to give you an opinion on the condition of the engine. However, I am off to Daytona tomorrow for the weekend for the 24hr race so it could not be until sometime next week anyway.
  13. A man and a woman go to a swingers party. They end up getting so drunk they black out. The next morning when they wake up at home, the man looks down at his johnson. There is a red ring about halfway up it and a black ring all the way at the base. His wife sees it and says, "You better get that checked out!" He goes to the doctor, doctor looks at it and takes a swab of each ring to analyze them. A few days later the doctor calls and says, "I have some good news and bad news." Guy says, "How bad?" The doctor says, "Well, the good news is the red ring turns out to be lipstick, however, the black ring is Skoal."
  14. I would not. The general rule of thumb is the wheel width should not be less than 70% of the tire tread width. That combo is exactly 70%. The reason I so no is because I have the same tire on Z32 NA wheels that are 16x7.5 and I can see evidence that I am not putting all the tread down under hard acceleration. You can play with tire pressure to compensate a little. Jap-tin's point about growth does not apply as DRs do not grow at high speed.
  15. The FD wheels are stamped "16x8 50". Are you looking for a pic of these wheels on a Z or a pic or the rear of the wheel? If the latter, I can take a pic tomorrow after I take them off running tonight.
  16. I have seen that car around and it is nice but never gave it a close inspection. Personally, I do not like NA rotarys for a street car but that should have nothing to do with your choice. For me, nice car if I was planning to make it a hybrid but then $3500 is too much for a rolling chassis, even with the bodywork. However if you really like the bodywork and can live with the shortcomings of a carb'd 12A, then go for it. After all, you are getting to please you not this forum.
  17. If you are all compiling a list of hybridZers who have switched cars, add 240Z Turbo to that list. He is building a monster S14 240SX.
  18. Michael, your response was so good, if I was an administrator I would make it a sticky for all the young 'uns who think the Z is the end-all. For me, Jmortensen said it, "They are getting old". However, I did my first hybridZ in 1978! Yeah, most of you, check your birth certificates While there were years in that span since when I did not own a Z, I also had cars that made the Z comparable to an oxcart, but I still love the Z. There just comes a point in time when you want to do something else with another car better than the Z. Yes folks, there are cars out there better than a Z-car, especially when those cars are also hybrids. Yeah, I know, sacrilige and I probably should be banned :D
