  1. i have ross' vented 4 piston setup on the front of my Z and i droveit around for a week or so with no rear brakes at all (bad idea i know) but the kvr pads were awesome. good pads mean the world for brakes. we put hawk hp on my brothers 300zx (much heavier car than 72) and it seems to be really easy to over heat the rotors with the hawks but my brother drives like an *** so i dont know. both are a good pad but i sort of prefer the kvr
  2. hrm the only problem with side mount is that youd have to open both before opening the hood, if they are on the top then u can reach the second one from the first side.
  3. cast pistons have come a VERY long way since the days of the 1st and 2nd gen sbc. if forged pistons arent required why use them ?
  4. hehe yeah but many cars here are made from ford toyota chevy nissan and datsun parts why not airplane style parts too
  5. http://www.coastfab.com/specials.html#aerocatch these aerocatch things seem like just the answer to eliminating stupid hood pins they would also work for gutted doors on a race car! you can even get them with locks, im in love
  6. awesome job dude, you have a future in this if you choose to pursue it, cant wait to see it all together keep up the great work!
  7. having crewed for two SCCA cars and being at the events ive never even seen a stock ls1 or ls6 blow on any of the race cars in any class... so they are fairly stout as is, i talked to a few of the race teams and they would sell a long block ls6 with one season on it for 1200 dollars, which was really tempting to me, so if anyones looking for an ls6 to rebuild, thats a good source!
  8. ross is hands down the best person ive ever dealt with when buying parts. any problems are taken care of, its been two years since i got my rear brake upgrade and i still cant believe he even included fast orange to clean myself up hahaha
  9. if you have trouble machining the poly, look into delrin, it machines beautifully and even though its much more stiff than poly its a good choice for such things
  10. hey, i saw this topic and i was wondering where i can get a lined flex pipe for a fwd car, ive been looking online for about an hour but i havent found one, the unlined type buzzes, and i knwo because i have one on my car haha, you know of any grumpy? EDIT: nevermind i found/ordered two from http://www.epiflex.com
  11. yeah i remember, when building mine making the straight bar, then throwing a seat in in excitment and sliding it back and thud haha, so i cut it out and made another bar looks good though !!
  12. just so you know, that harness bar might be a little too far forward. did you make sure that you checked to make sure the seat will go back as far as you want it too?
  13. sorry bud, maybe some night this week.
  14. hrm alright, i remember reading that article a little while ago on johns site i have a pair of 280z axles once i source a mustache bar and get my stuff in line im going to check to see if they bind. CV swap isnt in the budget right now, i wish i could afford more of Ross' parts i love dealing with him and he has great prices...
  15. while on subject i have an earlier r200 open diff that i havent installed into my 72 yet... if i picked up a z31 turbo diff whould i have to go to CV shafts or will the half shaft diff out put flanges fit into the z31 r200 ?
  16. hrm, i have a connection for anodizing.... interesting
  17. wait so does that mean that black is good or no good lol. why would the color (besides sunlight) transfer heat better or not?
  18. i had considered painting my aluminum radiator.... it sticks out like a sore thumb on a flat black car, but i was concerned about this too... let me know what you come up with...
  19. aaaaaaaahh now i get it. i think im safe then. i used to be able to balance complex chemical equations but this stuff just blows right over my head sometimes, thanks guys
  20. hrm wait so if the transmission measures at zero degrees and the diff measures at zero (in the vertical plane) but both are at different heights does that make it ok to have zero angle?
  21. hrm, well i guess i should try and have a solid driveshaft made to find out exactly where the centerline of the tranny is in relation to my diff
  22. hey i just finished custom mounting my sbc last nite, the tranny ended up at Zero degrees, im going to move my diff to also be at Zero, but i heard a rumor that 0 degrees front and back will cause a vibration... is this true?
  23. hrm i guess nobody here knows more than you do grumpy
  24. well lots more cars than what u listed have 5 x 4.5 goodluck!
