  1. MCTomTom, There are many variables that can determine the total cost of a SBC conversion. My best advice would be to sit down with a pen and paper and plan out exactly what you want to do with your conversion. I would try to be as detailed as possible so you can get the most accurate prices and therefore TOTAL price of what you want to do there are many different routes you gan go. And remeber, once you think you have it all figured out, there will be a bunch of things you didn't plan on that will either 1. need upgrading or 2. you "can't live with out it" items (such as better brakes or new wheels/tires) that are sometimes overlooked when just planning for an engine swap. Whatever your final TOTAL price estimate is, plan on at least doubling the $$$ amount by the time everything is said and done! EVERYONE: Also for anyone who is uncertain, please check out this short video on posting. MODERATORS: feel free to refer anyone to this short vid: http://albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php
  2. Have you tried zcarparts.com They're in Orange, so if they have one in stock it should get to you pretty quick.
  3. I've never used the software myself but here are a couple of links I've saved while researching my swap. I hope they're usefull for you too: http://ls1edit.slowcar.net/ http://www.carputing.com/
  4. JamieT, this is GREAT news! Nice score, these are items that I have been looking to buy for some time. I believe both items were temp discontinued or on a deep backorder because I couldn't find a NEW euro bumper or 432 grill anywhere. Thanks for the heads-up about MSA. I'm going to give them a call! By chance, do you happen to know if these are new, genuine nissan parts? Thanks.
  5. If I remember correctly I ordered mine from Summit racing. It was a special order item for them but it was the best price I could find at the time. This was 3 years ago. Also, this was for the complete set fron and rear. I'm not sure if they can order just the front.
  6. Try looking up Dando's Auto in Fremont. They're not that close, but they really know Z cars.
  7. Dale, how did you get the AutoMeter guages opened up to do the drilling?
  8. Hey cool. I heard the Miata pillar would work with a little massaging. Thanks for the info! I'll have to give it a try. Does it matter what year miata? As for the vent: It's a 2 5/8" guage (same as the 3 oem replacement guages). I simply removed the chrome vent piece and stuck the guage in the hole. It was such a TIGHT fit that I didn't bother doing anything else to install the guage (other than wiring, of course). The guage is a volt meter. BTW my car is a 72. If I end up getting a pillar pod I may remove it so I can have the vent back. Hope this helps.
  9. Here's a pic of my set-up. Very smooth install. wigenOut-S30, what pillar pod is that in your pic? I've been looking for a 2 guage pod? Thanks.
  10. DUH! I was so stoked about the good news that I missed the first sentance......sorry.
  11. SWEET! And just to be sure, these will work with the Johns cars LS1 kit, right?
  12. I'm using the "Ford" style AutoMeter fuel level guage. I don't thing anyone makes an aftermarket sender that would work with the Z fuel tank. Even Autometer's universal sender will not fit without modifying the tank. The Ford guage is pretty close as far as accuracy. If you're good with electronics I'm sure you could figure out a way to make it exact! 8)
  13. I have the same adapters that you have from MM. I was just hoping to see the pic of your set-up. The pic you posted is not working for me. Just a box with a red x in it.
  14. Man I wish I could see the pic! I also have the MM adapters on standby waiting for some wheels. What offset did you use and how do you like the tire size on your car? Are you using coil-overs? Is there anywhere else that I can view your pic? Thanks!
  15. That looks real COOL! 8) Where did you get that beefy fuse block by the battery? Also what size wheels are those..?
  16. WOW what a clean engine bay! Does anyone know what kind of upper radiator mount that is? It's pretty sweet!
  17. Got your pm! I sent you one back. Let me know what you think.
  18. Me likes the flannel hood liner. Very Al Borland of you! Lookin sweet. That TPI set-up looks like it was meant to be there.
  19. I've got a pair of Toyo 4x4 calipers for sale if you're interested = $50. I'm in the bay area too, so no shipping charges! Or maybe a trade for some T-Maxx parts.......???
  20. EASY! HPI sells an El Camino body for use on monster trucks. AND it comes with the top portion of a V-8 with a blower and scoop attatched! I'm sure it would "bolt up" to a Z car body. Hmmmm......................
  21. Your best bet will probably be the ones on ebay. The seller that has the 240ZG bodies does also sell the 240z from time to time. I've been trying to locate one for some time now and that's been the only consistent source. I think they're only 190mm but they should fit a 1/10th nitro 200mm too. If not the 350Z body is pretty sweet too. And alot easier to come by. Not to mention half the cost of on of the retro units!
  22. I sold one on Ebay recently. I would check there, I see them quite often. The one I had was called "How to hot-rod and race your Datsun" It had the type of info you're looking for.
  23. Sparco makes one for cars! Search ebay. I've seen a few. They're a bit pricey though.
