  1. So now that I know that my L30 block is an N42, and I've got a line on a P90 in good condition for cheap, I need to start figuring out what I am going to do for the turbo itself. The problem is I have NO idea where to start. I keep reading about T3/T4 hybrids, A/R (or is it AR?), hot side, etc, and I have no idea what any of it means. Is there anywhere I can read up on it (I already have maximum boost, but that applies more to theory than practice), or does anyone care to post some help in this thread? Thanks.
  2. Well, really what needs to happen is for the math to be done. Compare the TOTAL amount of air through the intake for say, a minute, at the redline (ie: volume of cc at TDC * rpm/4), and compare what you would be doing on a Z engine (say, for a 3L, 500cc*7500rpm/4 or 937500), and find a carb for a motorcycle engine that would be using the same amount of air per minute at the redline.
  3. Jesus, I don't know anything about it, but that is a serious piece of work right there.
  4. Don't be so sure of that. Given the right cam and timing, almost anything can sound like it wants to eat your face for breakfast
  5. You're right, after looking at the picture I posted, it actually doesn't look like it would be very hard, assuming there is the space. The biggest issue I guess would be getting them all synched up the first time *shrugs*
  6. Sure, no problem. It'll have to wait till later today, but I shold be able to get them to you today or tomorrow.
  7. This is a picture of my triple mikunis: As you can see, Mikunis and many other triple setups are actually twin throat, so in a sense, (like I mentioned earlier), they are basically six carbs, but each pair shares a fuel bowl.
  8. Driving hard != wasting I'm going to be waiting to do this untill the tank is just about empty anyways.
  9. Well, twin throat side drafts like the Mikuni PHH 40s and 44s will get you *basically* the same thing, just a shared fuel bowl. *shrugs*. Sounds like it could be cool, but the problem I see is you might have issues with the throttle linkage (I don't know how bike carbs are hooked up though.
  10. Actually, I've the the issue right now where my thermostat is stuck open, so my engine doesn't warm up as fast, and with the cooler weather we've been having latly where I am, it doesn't fully warm up ever (only 10 degrees or so, but still). Luckily (or not), soon it'll be hitting 100+ every day, so I've got awhile to fix it :/
  11. Thats the reason I decided I wanted a second Z when I do a RB26 swap into my current one: put an LSx into the other for DDing.
  12. Yes, but L28s or V8s don't blow apex seals
  13. Three S30s, my '73, another 2 seater for sale, and then about two minutes later, a 2+2. Anyone want me to get pics of the 2 seater for sale? It's white, unknown year, no mods that I could see.
  14. How big is the fan? Is it right up against the radiator or is it off the radiator some distance? Do you have a fan shroud?
  15. Don't worry, I'm crazy, not stupid I was going to support it with the jack for both the lowering and raising, since I have no desire to waste 4.50/gallon premium. Good to know it's easy though, since my roomates are all gone for the next two weeks, and I need SOMETHING to do to keep from going stir-crazy
  16. I've got a small leak somewhere on my fuel tank that lets fuel spill out if I fill my tank to within say a 5th of a gallon of the top, and I don't feel like waiting for an empty tank to fix the problem, so there's the question: How easy is it to drop the tank out of the car for one person? And what fuel lines/tank fittings/etc do I have to be careful of while I do it?
  17. I know that noone does this swap for the gas savings, but what mileage are you guys getting with your RB swaps?
  18. http://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21521 It takes all kinds of people...
  19. Only two things I can think of that haven't been mentioned are: Getting sufficient power to the plugs, and maybe the came is just REALLY worn? *shrugs*
  20. Lol, np Tony, you mentioned in a PM you were out of work. Besides, I am as well, which means I don't have any money to spend on the car right now beyond a new set of tires
  21. Or how about how BMW chose the blue and white after WWII because they couldn't build airplane engines anymore
  22. Cupholders. A complete and TOTAL lack of cupholders
  23. Where is a good place for me to read up on turbos and the different setups that they have?
  24. Where can I read up on the various tires? I'm going to be needing a new set soon....
