  1. And to be honest, that's the biggest reason that I'm not liking most of the big name SC makers. This will be a DD car, which means that something that p*sses me off at idle is going to be a no-go.
  2. So then these links won't do anything for you: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3262/2306745606_2c1b15080a.jpg http://www.zhome.com/History/Images/73TFallAndMWoodNo17.jpg http://images.forbes.com/images/2001/01/08/2rally_377x226.jpg http://www.zhome.com/History/Images/EAS11.jpg http://www.zhome.com/History/Images/Monti5.jpg
  3. And there's where the problem starts, only one flasher unit under the steering column I can HEAR the hazards clicking from somewhere in the passenger footwell area (I think), though how much that'll help I'm not sure yet.
  4. Well, seems like you've gotten to where I was/am on my '73. My hazards work fine, the directionals just stay solid. what happens if you have your hazards on and then try to signal a turn? do all four go solid?
  5. Nope. Don't have the time to track down wiring gremlins (which this seems to be), and I'm considering a LCD swap that I saw on here, which would mean even more changes needed. I *might* do it this winter if I can scrounge the time. Graduating in May has basically sucked up everything.
  6. Nissan terminology. R denotes supercharged, S denotes electricly controlled carb *shrugs* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_engines
  7. 2.31/gal for 91 here today. It was 2.39 yesterday O_o
  8. That's the company that actually got me thinking about it.
  9. whoops. For some reason I read '3 days ago' for the top of the page post as '3 weeks'
  10. Nice looking Z. I was at one point planning on turning my L30 into a L30et, but recently I've started thinking L30er (supercharged) instead.
  11. Damn, thats the first time I've seen a straight 8. Any chance of seeing more of the car that it's going in? And just how did they get it to work properly with six carbs? It just seems...wrong somehow...
  12. Personally, I don't think drifting is going to die out (for all the reasons mentioned earlier), and personally, I think it's a great thing. The more events that can use a road race track, the more likely they are to stay in business and even expand. What I *don't* like about drifting is how the movies and games make every kid in dad's corolla or civic think that they are the next pro drifter. I actually do want to get more into rally driving, but I don't even know where to start :/
  13. I've seen those, that's why I'm interested in a centrifugal SC instead of a more traditional looking one. JCR doesn't seem to exist/sell those setups anymore, so that route is gone, and anything else is going to require a lot of custom fabrication, while a centrifugal would require less, and probably fit into the engine bay far better.
  14. Thanks for weighing in Tony. I don't think I'll be fabbing my own SC though, just a little above and beyond what I'm able to do Was there a specific AC mount he was using to mount his SC? or is there only one mount that all the kits use (I haven't looked into them at all). If you can find any pictures, or offer anymore details of that guy's install, that'd be appreciated.
  15. For the record guys, I'm only asking about CENTRIFUGAL super chargers, IE: the ones that look like turbos but belt drive. They CAN be ICed, and other than the exhaust on the engine and not having a hot side (or whatever the correct term is), the way they are setup is essentially the same as turbos (from what I gather). I don't honestly care about screw type, lobes, or whatever other SC types there are, because other than the JCR (?) kit, there really is no easy way to mount them to a straight six.
  16. Thanks for the info guys. It seems that (generally) everyone agrees that I'd make less power (how much is up to debate) over a turbo pushing the same PSI, but that the easy of packaging and routing of piping could make up for that. John: What setup are you running now? Turbo(s) on that same engine? I don't suppose you happen to have more info about that build, or a dyno sheet for it? 1fZ: A quick (very quick, writing papers at the same time) yielded no hard information about the difference b/w turbo and SC running the same boost. Do you have a specific site in mind that you could link me to? Edit: In case it changes how you guys respond to this, this isn't going to be a drag car or anything, but a DD/AutoX/etc car.
  17. Well, the block debate is ongoing, but I would say that ANY engine block is good to have, as it gives you options that you might not have otherwise. I personally plan on picking up a spare block so that I can reduce down time on my car (pull one to rebuild, drop the other right in).
  18. So, other than the obvious ease and low cost of doing a turbo build on our L series engines vs. fabbing a mount for a SC, is there any other reason NOT to go with a centrifugal supercharger over a turbo? For some reason the more I look at them, the better an idea it seems, especially if it was mounted on the right hand side of the engine, since there would still be plenty of room for it, then a FMIC could easily be run... So, any ideas on this? Anyone done a centrifugal SC before?
  19. For the tuning, why not just tune it yourself? There's a forum here on HZ dedicated to each of the major standalone ECM systems, atleast one of which is designed to be easily tuned by the average gear head. As for swaps, I know into S30s it would be an L28et or SBC, but I'm not sure if an SBC would fit a S130. Honestly, you'd probably be fine for awhile if you just cleaned your current engine up, put a new turbo on and a bigger exhaust + FMIC.
  20. Read this first: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=84860 But as for getting to 500 or 600whp, at that point you'd probably have to talk to one of the guys that has already done it.
  21. What he said. I don't know if I'd put a no name turbo on an engine that I spent alot of time and $$$$$$ on, but if it was going onto a junkyard L28et for giggles, then why not.
