  1. I just went through a mess of the same problem, because my car is a mid year 74 260z. Finally got it figured out though. You need to go by Outside diameter. The 240z style use a 51mm O.D. and the insert is actually bigger than that of the 280z style. The 280z style uses a 56mm O.D. but the strut tube walls are thicker, so the insert itself is smaller than the 240z style. Hope this helps. when you stick a 280z insert into a 240z strut, their will be a lot of play and movement, and you will realize that it is not right.
  2. At formula D this year, I was talking to a guy with a 240sx with a vh45 twin turbo that was close to completion, but not running yet, and he was saying that the drawback of the motor was the small chamber heads, and that it needed a a lot of head work to be efficient with the turbos. I work for nissan and have worked on those motors before. They are very smooth in operation, but leak like bitches. They don't offer hardly any aftermarket as far as cams, pistons, rods, ect., and almost everything is going to have to be custom (EFI, turbo manifolds, ect..) An LS motor, will make more power for the price, and is way easier to swap. Plus, you get the benifit of the t56. LS motor hands down.
  3. yah the drawback of both the vh45 and the 1uz, are that they both have crappy flowing heads. If you want to go v8, then go with an LS series motor, because their is way more aftermarket support, and the t56 bolts right up. If you want an I6, then go 1jz or 2jz.
  4. I am running all Jegs fittings on my fuel system. They are a great price, and assemble easy. I am running a -8an feed to a bosch 044 pump, and then running a -6an feed to the fuel rail from the pump. I am running a -6an fuel return line to the fuel cell.
  5. It looks nice with those wheels, but in all honesty, putting a 225 on a 10.5" rim just makes me sick. Such a loss of potential traction to make wheels fit, or look nice. Doesn't make any sense.
  6. Hey guys, I need to buy a new e-brake cable for my 260z that was made in 4 of 74'. My car has the small bumpers and 240z style struts so can I use a 240z cable or is a 260z cable unique? Anyone? I assume the 280z is different? thanks Tim-
  7. almost sounds like a wheel bearing has failed. Your lug nuts will feel tight, but if a wheel bearing fails, I have seen it bad enough to where it feels like the wheel will fall off because the wheel will still be loose. Just jack up the car and get the wheels off the ground and move them a around to see if their is play in any of the bearings. I have seen this a lot.
  8. nice! keep us updated, and make a video!!
  9. One of my friends ran it that close on his car and never had a problem, so I not too woried. My down pipe has another o2 bund furthur down, so I can move it if it becomes a problem. The other sensor is a factory Toyota O2 sensor, and they are that close to the turbo from the factory,
  10. contact MSA, as they sell the perfect spacers for those exact wheels!
  11. It is a 16 gallon. I forgot it was a 16 and thought I ended up with a 12, but it is a 16 gallon. Summit racing cell, with foam, sump and a 0-90ohm sending unit so it works with autometer gauges. edit: If i did it all over again, I would have gone with the 12 gallon because it leaves more room to run the exhaust with 3" piping, but it can be done either way.
  12. those are seriously the nicest welds I have ever seen in my life! they are perfect!!
  13. he must not have the tranny installed in that pic causing that excessive slant.
  14. Its nice too have a day off for thanksgiving, so I got a little done on the Z today. Decided that I wanted to recirculate my wastegate so I can hear the lovely sound of the 1jz. I modifyed my downpipe for the wastegate recirculation and a toyota 1jz 02 sensor. Also have the Zeitronix wideband installed. It was interesting welding on stainless steel with a shielded wire feed welder, but it came out very nice. Got it all painted and heat wrapped too. Here are some pics.
  15. Got some new pics. Fuel system is done, and I removed the complete rear suspension and got the new Modern Motorsports control arms in. I have ground control coilovers and tokicos on the way. Replacing the spindle pins while I have it appart.
  16. very interesting! Could be a nice alternative as the R154's are getting harder to find.
  17. your car is easily the sweetest Z of all time!!! Very nice fab work on the front diff mount too. That car will destroy anything on the road, for sure! Please post some new videos!!
  18. Got my fuel feed system done today. Summit racing 12 gallon fuel cell with -8 feed line into a Bosch motorsports 044 fuel pump (good for 700 whp) with a -6 feed from the pump to the engine. I have an inline fuel filter before the pump. I will do the return next. Here are a couple pics. It looks nicer in person than in the pics.
  19. that actually looks very nice on those 002's. Nice car! What tire sizes are you running?
  20. Got the Infinity Q45 R200 installed into my 74' on the weekend. I used Modern Motorsports mount kit and it is awesome! The fitment is perfect and the kit is heavy duty, very nice. Just working on the axels now. Here is a couple pics-
  21. Oh, and my favorite part. Infinity Q45 r200 LSD installed with modern motorsports mounting kit. Working on the rear end now, doing all the bushings, custom lower control arms, axels, ect...
  22. Got all the bushings in the front end replaced with poly bushings. Control arm bushings, rack bushings, steering coupler bushings, strut rod bushings, and tie rod end grease boots.
  23. I haven't posted in a little while, but I have got a lot done. Finally got around to painting the valve covers, I modified a Toyota Camry throttle cable to work on the 1jz thanks to RussZed's idea. Got a set of Sportmax wheels for the z too. Everything in the engine bay is almost done.
