  1. welcome to the z family, as well as the small group of 260 owners in the US
  2. Ok,,, Lets get caught up on the progress of the car. Another birthday present that I got was from mom and dad. Nice center console cup/storage holder. This thing is awesome. Also took the furry mammoth seat covers off. Bought these at Pep Boys for $19 picked up some 2" and 5" foam from the hobby store. The factory seat covers were wasted. So, I cut up the foam and contoured the seats as best as possible. Gave me some side support in cornering. I know no professional but hey for Less than $50 it works for me. Onto the computer issues I have had. All of it was self inflicted. Hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes. First When I did the 83 ecu//turbo install it all worked out great once I found the VACUUM leak. Then had a driveability problem that I did not fix until today. Seems that I had the spark plug gap to wide. Had it at .42 lowered to .27 and wala no more ignition failure when in upper rpms. I may even drop it more, was told you can go as low as .15 on turbo. During the whole ignition problem I knew that I wanted more power and decided to go with the z31 ecu install. I picked up a really nice 88 turbo ecu from a member on here at a great price. I ordered 500cc injectors and wanted to switch to a Z32 maf. So needed a tune for the z31 ecu to run the larger injectors and different maf. After research decided to go with a tuner that advertises on ebay and has a shop in California. Sent him the first ecu and for $220 he installed the rom chip that is tuneable, tuned for larger injectors and better mapping, removed the resistors to drop the voltage reading 2-7ohms to 0-5 for the maf. Real simple. (Yes could have done megasquirt for about $400, I know.......which is what I have in this journey with shipping.) So installed the Maf, injectors with new connectors and wired the ecu in per all the information on the web. You can read about that in the posts above with issues can you say burnt. He sent me another ecu and it was toast on arrival. Sent both ecu's back and neither were fixable. I found another 88 turbo ecu, sent it to Jason at Nismovictor, ecu tuning in california. Now Jason has been doing all these other ecu's pretty much free of charge to fix my problem. He rom chipped the third ecu, ( I had an 86 turbo ECU that he is tuning as well), got this one back and plugged it in. Wala starts right up sounds good. Take it for a ride and again the best it has run. Drove it 2 more times, then decided to take dad to lunch. We make it to a local performance shop. Stop and talk to the owner for about 30 minutes. Get back in the car and it will not start. Determine it has no spark. No power to the coil or ignitor via test light. Trailered it home, diagnose that the coil/ignitor/ ecu signal was locked either grounded or on. Drained the battery etc. Only way we figured it out was by unplugging the ecu with the ign on and heard a loud click. Replugged the ecu in and now had power. Started car and ran terrible. Like the maf was not working. So, tested the maf harness had no power to the maf. Traced the wire back and it had pulled out of the butt connector at the terminal post where it gets power. Fixed that and wala it started. Onto body work soon. Removed the bumpers. Picked up some fenders and front spoiler. I purchased some 240sx front turn signals to go in there. Just will have to figure some sort of front grill.... Maybe bigger intercooler.
  3. I took the bumbers off... Getting ready for body work. Have newsed front fenders to replace the holey ones. Putting a new front spoiler on with 240sx front turn signals. Then tackle the doors and repaint.
  4. Had the 86 faded red paint. Did not make it to the show till noon. Parked in the parking lot. Did not get the car in the show. Only picture I could find.
  5. I just went and saw a guy here in Orlando that had all 3 peaces of the 240z lower valances. Here is his add! http://orlando.craigslist.org/pts/4117152112.html Pretty good shape! Nice guy. Doing a v8 install in a 260z, these parts left from a prior project he had on a 240, to rusted to fix.
  6. Awesome car and looks like a great build!
  7. You would have to get either a custom/new lower spoiler that has them molded in for you to bolt in. Or get the 71,72,73 lower valance that has the early 240z turn signal holes in them. There are 3 peaces. The outer ones hold the turn signals.
  8. Contact Znke,,,, he is a wiz a transmissions!! Did my S15 6 speed conversion to L26 motor.
  9. cool,, never caught up with him. With out having my s30 there got no attention.
  10. Made it to the show. Not a huge turnout but fun. Little over 30 cars in the show. Met some people did not see any Hybridz members there. My car died so took my dads new project car z31 85 n/a with my brother.
  11. First issue is cost of swap. Unless you are handy and can fabricate. You would have to buy Arizona kit or Techno Toy Tuning. Upwards of $2000 for whole setup. I personally have not had an issue. I have about 1500 miles on my setup which is TTT. Have had some chatter under stress situations. But definitely works as a LSD. I am running the n/a z32 4.09 gear. I want to find a 97-01 Q45 rear dif that is 3.69. 1.What are other options for LSD? Z31, would be $500 to $1500 just for dif. Then you need axles, yes you can have them made. Also, a drive axle. 2.OBX cheapbay product. Have not heard bad news, just chinese. $400 to $500 for dif. (http://www.zdriver.com/forum/280zx-performance-technical-79/lsd-diff-swap-22641/) good write up in that post 3.Weld the gears,,,, not good for driver 4. Precision gear. http://www.precisiongear.com/powerbrute.htm I wanted to have the z32 brakes on all four corners for the ability to brake well but also the cool factor.... With the TTT rear set up you can have the brakes with a working e-brake. Find a pic n pay with the car and pull the hole setup out. Should be able to get it for less than $300, dif, brakes and axles. Send axles to TTT and wala done.
  12. Looks like high of 88 mostly sunny for Saturday's events. Saturday night may have some showers. Might be a little warm.... says feels like 97 for the day.
  13. Looking for left and right turn signals. Housing, lens and wiring harness. Thanks
  14. Well I guess confirmation of attendance will be Me, my brother, my dad and mom. Hoping to have all the z's there. If not mam says we can take her infinity G! There has got to be more than 2 or 3 people from this site that can make it!
  15. Misc wiring issue with the headlights. The switch was bad, it work only in the hi beam setting. So, got a replacement one and they work!! Dad bought turn signals and the fog lights used on ebay. Should be here Monday and that will have everything electrical working. Just have to find the leak in the A/C. Also I think there are some leaks in the vacuum lines. Under hard acceleration it has warm air coming from under the dash. Also the fan does not move air out the center vents. Only the outside vents.
  16. Well making plans for starting body work. I will be doing this with it still being a driver. I know not the best plan for a perfect finish. Not looking for show car finish but want to alleviate the rust issues. Plan on doing a color change as well. Want to do all work myself with dads help. So, scored 2 front fenders yesterday. I will get pictures uploaded later. Both fenders are way better than mine. I have 8" round holes in the lower fender of my car, typical rust spot for our cars. One of the new fenders has a rust spot about 3 inches in size that will be easy to patch. The person threw in a polyurethane front nose. It has been painted and the paint is pealing off. I was going to attempt to remove the paint, if I can't get it to look good I am going to paint it with bedliner paint.
  17. That looks awesome... Brutally fast
  18. Birthday present from my brother. Could not decide on a shift knob for my 6 speed. Always wanted one for my stolen 240sx so....."Silvia" oem shift knob. Plain and subtle i like it. fits your hand like a glove. Strange its the simple things in life...
  19. Is the front valance a direct replacement? It looks to be a swap. Can you just swap the outer ones to use the 240z turn signal?
  20. Well we have both our cars entered. Hope we can make it, or at least make one day of the event. Anyone else pre-register?
  21. Sent it to Xnke, He can do it!
  22. Who is going? I should be there with my 74 260z and dad in his new project 86 300z
