  1. Hmmmm..... Well, I have a 280Z 2+2 that I need framerails and floors for, and they told me they don't make one for my 2+2, and that I would have to get the coupe set and go from there. It took them a few days to get back to me via email....how long have you been waiting?
  2. ^Yeah I'm going to try to take it easy, but I WANNA DRIVE IT!!!! I'm way too excited to have this car in some sort of running order.... Now if only the directionals worked....
  3. THAT WAS YOUR CAR?! I remember seeing it in SCC. Great build! Too bad you had to sell it
  4. Ah ok then, thank you for the advice! I can't wait to actually drive in a road, seeing as I've just been driving it around the dealership parking lot....You should see the look i get from customers.
  5. Alright, here's the deal.... My 78 Z has rotted floors and rotted framerails. The passenger side is absolutely atrocious compared to the driver's side, but point is they're both rotted pretty bad. Here's my dilemma. Now that I've got it running, I need to get it out of my workplace and to my parents' house to get started on the rot/rust repair, and I would like to register it (so I i don't have to keep relying on tow truck to move it) so I can drive it, but I do not want to risk tweaking the body. Your thoughts?
  6. i finally got rid of all the riveted metal blocking the seat bolt holes (the previous owner riveted the seats down) and bolted in another crappy drivers seat. And then I finally drove it.....good god it was amazing! This car rocks.
  7. Awesome! You must feel like a proud father. I can't wait to see the dyno sheets.
  8. ^ I agree. Done and Done. I never said I didn't appreciate it, I just disagree with some of what was said is all.
  9. I'm going to assume you mean my lack of capitilization. My humblest apologies, I'm usually pretty damned good about it when I type, but since I'm at work, I tend to type fast without paying attention. And yes, I do have plenty more to learn about these cars, but I work with a former Datsun factory technician, so I think I'll be ok. Also, another reason I didn't really use the manual, was because I had a former Datsun factory tech helping me. He's worked on these things since the 240Zs first came statside. And thank you Challenger for understanding. I don't see how the EFI Bible would have told me it was the WRONG ONE. I do understand you are all just trying to give me advice, but keep in mind that the EFI bible isn't the end all-solve all to engine diagnosis. Heaven forbid i didn't use it. And while I am young, and I haven't been working on cars as long as you all have, it doesn't mean I'm clueless. I just approach things differently, which doesn't mean its the wrong way. I think i do ok for myself, otherwise I probably wouldn't have a job at a Subaru dealership, and nor would the previous Toyota dealers i worked for have hired me. PS. Challenger, her running now pretty much solidifies her getting floors and framerails now. She's a keeper I guess
  10. i'm assuming the 77 and 78 S30 FSMs will be pretty much the same right? and that the 2+2 wont be much different from the coupe?
  11. i dont do well with books and working on cars, hell i work on subarus at a dealership, and the FSM messes me up sometimes. i went by the 3 rules of an engine running deal...Air, Fuel, Spark. had fuel and spark, so yeah, that left air
  12. VIDEO OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! lol sorry, i had to... congrats!!!!
  13. how many episodes come with what you've bought off ebay?
  14. hehe thanks man! well she needs floors/frame before anything else....oh and i should probably bolt down the driver's seat hmm?
  15. ITS ALIVE!!! the previous owner had the wrong AFM on it! i got another one and the two didnt even look alike, so im assuming it was off of a 280zx.... but she still smokes. alot. lol
  16. exactly. humps ftw. my humps my humps my humps.
  17. semi fixed the S13, removed all the EGR crap, seeing as it was a nest of vacuum leaks. car ran, then all of a sudden didnt. wtf. now onto the Z this week hopefully! someone buy my brakes!
  18. is it wrong that when i see the word hypermiler, i think you're trying to get good gas mileage out of like...the Millenium Falcon or a TIE fighter.... why not just get a miata? sporty, and gets good gas mileage, no engine swap needed! and dont give me that "im too tall for one" bull, im 6'3 and i fit in one comfortably, and my 6'7 friend fits in one as well.
  19. LOL oh relax will you? it was a joke. careful, the internet is serious business. :lmao: i love how out of all the info i dropped, you paid attention to that part of it. i was partially serious about the "hypermiler" thing. what's so "hyper" about it?
  20. to my recollection, the only USDM nissans to have an SR20 of any kind were the NX2000 and the Infiniti G20. there were no RWD USDM SR20DEs, and unlike the CA18DET, you cannot rotate it 90 degrees and make it a RWD engine. Same goes for KA24e/des. you'd have to go JDM if you wanted one. in all honesty, why dont you just go buy a sub-base model CRX? i mean its a bit weird to buy a sports car to be a "hypermiler" or whatever you want to call it (aka grandma driver) just my .02, which is some countries isn't worth that. lol ps.why the hell is there a special name now for someone who wants good gas mileage?
  21. yeah m4xwell, i agree. like i said in the 2+2 owners thread, if i cant get it running right with the parts im getting from another member on here in two weeks, she's done and im getting another one in way better shape. here's a reminder of what im dealing with, and its worse in person... and yeah its worse underneath. sorry for the thread jack phil.
