  1. find someone with an english wheel or get one yourself and learn how to use it. it is an invalulalbel tool. and the roll pan would not be hard to make, it has a simple gradual curve. it also makes patching curved areas a much easier.
  2. yea, I will be dropping the 400 in it, my set is just NA 400 with brownfield heads flat tops and a vic jr intake. after the chassis si finnished and I save up some money I will work on the engine more. I dont know much about the jegs chassis, but I do believe that it is a roller set up for a solid rear end, a drag racing chassis. but I am sure it could be altered to fit a vette rear end. mine is a complete custom chassis built to the datsun wheelbase with the corvette suspension. and it will be a complete roller, with the body removable.
  3. here is a link to a thread with pictures of my custom chassis project with corvette suspension http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=98793
  4. that is what hapened to my project. it started with putting better springs and breaks on my z, and has slowly grown to a complete custom built chassis with corvette C-4 suspension full cage motor plates coilovers etc. basicaly it is completely different car with a datsun body along for the ride. and my favorite part is that the entire back half of the car (firewall back) is one piece removable with turning out just a few bolts.
  5. the suspension is all C-4 stuff, I could not afford the dana 44 version but I did get a good deal on an 1984 dana 36 unit which is the most stout of all the 36's. the frame that I got was originaly being built for a roadster, and there is very little of that left. we pretty much just used the suspension and cut it up for the steel. it is being worked on at a profesional shop, i did not want to do the chassis work my self, it is too critical. so I found a shop that does great work, and although they mainly build dragsters and show cars they were willing to work with me on this road racer. so I am woking with them alot on the design, and they are making it all work.
  6. and here is the frame and tub mounted on the jig with the replacement parts
  7. the front toyota's are installed on the 71 which is currently stored in my grandmothers garage in the suburbs. so as soon as I get it back to the shop it will begin to get taken apart. the 71 is my black car with the big flairs (in my avitar)
  8. ok guys, it seems as though most people want parts that are on the 71. I will let you all know when it comes into the shop to get dissasembled. matt, I think I might be keeping the steering column stuff off of the 74 for the finnished car, but I do have the stuff form the 71. however, this weekend I wil lbe grabing all the suspension and brakes and stuff from the 74. the whole floor has been cut out, and the fron end was cut from the fire wall foreward. the whole car was very solid, no rust. I will post some pictures of that stuff on monday.
  9. the 71 has a black interior, however, most of the interior pannels are missing, but the seats are nice and yes I have a signal stalk for you (is that what you need?) however it might be a week or so untill I can get one off of a car. asthe 71 has not yet started to get taken apart, and I cant get to the 74 untill the weekend. the brakes I am not sure on yet, the rear zx set up has not been instaled on my car yet, but teh toyota 4 piston are still on there, and I want to take them off and check the condition before I give you a price, because the car has been sitting for a bit. but you are first in line datsunlover
  10. that is where mine is, under the dash to the right of the column.
  11. I have a jag rear end sitting in the garage now that I believe is a 3.56, but is is a solid piece, very heavy.
  12. ok, that is what I was looking for. thank you now, the bellhousing I am looking at is set up for hydraulic linkage. will that be a problem setting it up in my new chassis, which is being built now. it is a totaly custom chassis and cage, the datsun body will just sit on it.
  13. I am moving along nicely on my new full custom chassis project, and I am wondering what the interest might be in parts from the 2 cars I am cutting up to make one car. I will have 2 complete suspensions one from a 74 260 and one form a 71 240. 1 full disk setup with toyota 4 piston fronts and zx rears with all hte brackets. all cleaned up and sealed with por-15. complete front end cut off at the firewall for the 74 and a bunch of random stuff. so I guess just ask, and I will tell you if I am keeping it or selling it. the 74 is mostly gutted and cut, but the 71 will not be dismantled for a month or so. thanks scott
  14. I have a 1988 camaro T-5 and a 70's small block 400. what I am wondering is... Will a bellhousing from a 91 v8 t-5 camaro work for me?
  15. that works fine for me. we could throw somme ideas around and come up with a basic template, and then work from there.
  16. I like the idea of a 2006 callender as well, and I would be more than happy to work on the design of the callenders as well, or give a hend where it is needed. I am a full time freelance graphic designer and comercial artist, and can usualy find plenty of free time. plus I have alot of calenders that I have done for clients so I usualy have templates and such for each month done by the november or december before the calender year starts.
  17. ok, I need to know the wheel base form my 74 260, but my car and all the amnuals are at home, and I am at work. I searched the forums, and I had very little luck as well as on yahoo. I did come up with a number of 90.7" and I want to confirm if that is correct. I need this for the the building of my new chassis. and also if any one has the width measurement from the inside of the rocker to inside of the other rocker. thanks scott
  18. I know a lot of the guys in the trans-am series use jerico's and weisman transmissions
  19. speaking of engines being stuffed in a mini. check this out. rover v8 is a mini clubman http://www.geocities.com/jharkola/Viku2.html
  20. here are some more pictures, and yes I know some of the bends are junk, but I mostly bought it for the susupension and parts
  21. ok, I have decided to build a complete new custom chassis for my 240, I am using corvette c4 front suspension, and I am starting with a custom chassis the I got on e-bay for cheap with the c4 front end and and jag rear end. I am not a fan of the jag diff because it is sooo heavy and the breaks a PITA. but I am havving a little trouble finding a c4 rear end at a decent price, or at least one localy so I don't have to have it shipped. so my question is, how bad is the jag diff, should I just go with it for now so I can get this project started and change the rear latter (I need to get a majority of the fabrication done over the winter)? or do I continue to hold out for the vette rear end, or should I use a z rear end, or are there any other good ideas for an IRS that I should look into? here is a pic of hte rear of the chassis with the jag rear end.
  22. I use http://www.imageshack.us/ it is realy good and give you all the coding so you just have to cut and past without using all the img butons in forum softwear.
  23. I finaly got my chassis that I bought in Denver (while I was out there for the denver GP of course) out here to the midwest last week. Well sunday after all the business that came with the holiday was over, I got the chance to put in the better part of a day on it. I got a decent amout accomplished to. and thanks to the denver area hybrid members for helping me out while I was on vacation. when it came in... what got removed how it looks now I just have to finnish gutting it, then it is off to the fabrication shop to get the 12pt cage built and the new suspension mounted. Then while it is gone my other z comes ack to the garage to pull the engine and get some body work off of it to put on the new one. slowly but surely it will get done
