Well, if any of you guys happen to make it to the midwest in august, my friends and I are putting on ou second Lance Armstrong foundation bennifit, at Road America (which in my opinion is one of the best road courses in the US) on august 20. it is in conjuction with the ALMS TRANS AM and Toyota Atlantic series. last year it was with champcar TRANS AM and atlantics http://www.pelotonride.org/ check it out for more info, it is a great chance to ride the course and get to meet all the drivers and such. that being said, I ride my road bike alot more because I live in the city, but I prefer mt. biking. I have always been more of a bike controll person rather than an endurance type that is why I raced downhill

I have been mt. biking for about 10 years. I used to race downhill, I always enjoyed the gravity assist stuff. cross country was never my style, I would rather ride the chair lift up hill

NASCAR and IRL have no relation to Michelin hence no data for michelin

first of all, no F1 teams tested at IMS at all this year, the botched re-surface jobs was completed just before the IRL's waste of May. so the only manufacturer that had any track data after the re-surface, and then unsurfaceing (grinding due to a poor re-surface) was the IRL who runs firestone who is owned by bridgestone. here is some info on all of that from my friend who live across the street from IMS the whole thing was a big mess, and there is now one to be left out of the blame including bernie who bends over every time ferrrari askes him to. And Michelin had no tires on site that could deal with the surface change because it was not a compound issue, it was a construction issue, that they could not have known about due to the fact that there is no test data available to them about running increased vertical load on a grooved surface like the data that firestone made availabe to bridgestone

well, I was there in the turn 6 terrace when all the cars left the grid before the start. I say everyone is to blame for not coming to some sort of agreement. michelin was in a bad place. there were alot of tire failures, and ralph backied into the wall in the same place that he did last during practice due to a tire failure. and if I had a product that might fail in a high speed turn, IMS is tha last place I would want it to happen. the track workers, the owners and the saftey crews are all a joke. and the idea of puting in a lst minute chicane is worthless for so many reasons. michelin did fly in a new batch of tires for race day, but FIA woudl not let them change, due to protests. ferrari had everthing to loose by letting that happen. all in all, the worst part was all that was on track were two of the best cars in the field, and the 4 worst. ferrari menardi and jordan. the two ferraris jsut followed each other around, and there were nothing but unforced errors by the other two teams.

yea, it is a very easy fix, I did it to my brothers camaro, it took about 10 min and it was a $ .30 part

I have read that you need a slight angle in teh drive shaft to reduce vibration, and to provide uniform wear on teh universal joints.

I would not change anything on the chassis that you have now, but I would think about getting another chassis and puting some flairs on it. but maby it would be fun to try to do some steel work. the flairs I am building for my car are made from stock datsun fenders. so they reatain all the lines, but I can fit 325's under them.

it might be the most mile put on an engine in a race series, but in formula 1 the now have to run the same engine for at least two races, which is a lot of testing, qualifying and racing and that is on an engine that routinly goes through an RPM range of 8,000 to 19,000 with alot more load on it than a nascar engine. and also, just becasue a race engine for any series has to be freshened, or rebuilt, does not mean that it is used up, it just has to be doen to remain competitive. a perfect example of that is Dale Coynes champcar team.

Also it is important to know that in 1984 when there was no 44 offered, all the suporting components of the 36 were made alot tougher then the 36's offered in the later versions. and if you choose a 36, make sure that it has at least a 3 series gear, because the 2 series rear ends used in the automatic cars canot accept the larger gears. -
I have a bunch of stuff from the 260 that I just cut apart, and pretty soon the stuff is most likely going to be junked do to a lack of space, so let me know if you need anything, and I can let you know if I have it.

and to do it properly you will need to build it on a jig so all you measurments stay the same while welding, there is nothing worse than a crooked chassis. and I believe that the jegs chassis, being for drag purposes is set up to use a solid rear end and a standard strut front end, so none of the z stuff will swap over, except the shell of the car, so you would need to redo all interior sheet metal stuff. -
I would be a little hesitant on blading the cage to the body at his point, if the car is going to see any serious stress, or tortional load on a road course, you will be twisting the body alot, and if you still have all the glass in, and not lexan, you might have soem problems

I am hoping to run the car in SPO, or I guess it would work for ITE as well, acording to the SCCA rule books, and car over 2500 lbs is suposed to have 1.5 .095 tubing. I have not completely figured out how to seal the surfaces of the body to that of the frame, but I dont think it will be too hard, as the frame kind of slides up inside of the body. It will be mounted with 6 bolts just like a regular body so that there is some adjustment, but the interior will be all aluminum, dzues fastened in so that I can access the trans and rear end easily from the top. Also I do have more shots of the black car, they used to be in the hybridz album, here on the web site, but they they may have been lost in the last website update. the website yourfavoritedriversucks.com is a champcar fan site, and the front page is always being changed. -

the main frame is built from 2x3" box .125 wall mild steal, and all the super structure (tubing) is 1.5 .095 chromoly as per the SCCA regulations. the main chassis was built out of the car on jig with carfull measurments, and the body was repeatedly test fit. the whole body from the firewall back will be one piece removable, so there has been a lot of planning in how the cage and foreward bars are constructed. but it is all being built piece by piece, I only did pencil sketches before we took the plasma cutter to the body. every thing i sbeing built to fit as tightly to the body as possible whil still allowing the body to be lifted off. this takes alot more time in the fitting and planning stages, but will allow for the final welding and painting and such to be finnished much cleaner and easier i think. the work is being done at a shop called competition fabrication. -

I have a complete front end from 74 260, cut off fromthe fire wall forward to the core support, I dont know what shipping would be, but it is all there stripped clean and realy solid, mihgt make it easier to replace the upper frame.
