  1. Does anybody have a chart of the distributor advance cure for a '77 L28? I know what the advance is at 600 and at 2500. I am looking for a graph of the entire curve. It would be nice if it showed no vacuum advance and one with full advance. I hope this is not asking too much. I have an EDIS ignition system and a MegaSquirt EMS. The timing in the system is kind of generic and I am hoping to get closer to what is really needs.
  2. I cannot seem to make friends with my Acceleration settings. I cannot determine why Deceleration suddenly takes over and causes the engine to go very lean. The motor seems to run ok driving it up and down the street. Can someone take a look at my .msq and log file? I have read the manual and read the manual and read the manual...... datalog200902141716.zip megasquirt200902141357.zip
  3. I am not sure if this is the most economical way to do it but I simply went here: http://www.msextra.com/manuals/Downloads/Megatune_Extra_Installer.exe and downloaded the entire thing. I now have both a MSII and a MSnS Extra folder in my Program files. There may be a better way to do it but at least I can see what I need to see.
  4. Someone was nice enough to send me a .msq file to help me with an acceleration issue. Unfortunately, I am using MSII Rev 2.889 and the .msq is for MSnS Extra, Format 029q. What files and changes do I need to read the .msq? Where can I find the correct files to download?
  5. Perhaps I can take a few minutes and look at it. I live about 15 miles from you. I will be in Florida starting tomorrow and won't be back for a week. Maybe either the 14th or 15th, I can spend an hour or two with you. I am far from an expert, but, maybe I can help.
  6. Here is a pic of my balance tube. The ouput connects to my IAC, vacuum reservoir for the brake, A/C vent system, MAP sensor and vacuum for the fuel regulator. It idles at about 78 to 80 KPA. I cannot find the info on the cam.
  7. Thanks for the input. I have yet to get the accel enrichment completely figured out. I guess I will just have to play with it a bit more.
  8. Can I use the Fiddle output to drive a relay that switches on and off the radiator fans? ms 2.889 ms 225p3 v3 board
  9. I am having problems with my engine going lean as I open the throttles on my intake manifold. The car is meant to be a street car not a race car so I am trying to get it as smooth as possible. Should I stay with the standard vacuum / acceleration enrichment process or would the alpha-n configuration be more applicable? ms2.889 mt225p3 v3 board
  10. MS 2.25 p3 MSII Rev 2.668 V3 main board. Today I found that it takes 210 steps to fully close my IAC. Full open is 120 steps. Further opening will not increase air flow thru the IAC body. I am using the jeeps stepper motor and the Dark Star IAC body. The stepper motor does not seem to close as the engine warms. I have adjusted the IAC steps at 130 and 160 degrees from 5 to 220 steps and saw no change in the idle speed. I have jumpered the two current limiting resistors, I have changed my minimum step count from 1 to 5. I have increased my pulse width to 4.0 msec. I can put my thumb over the intake side and the engine idle drops to about 500 RPM. This tells me that the stepper is not closing fully. What adjustment should I use to try and run the stepper motor? I was trying to use the Idle Steps tool in Other Tuning. Is it possible that I have the flow direction backwards? The air flow should push against the pindle correct? Which direction is the air flow thru a Dark Star IAC body?
  11. MT 2.25p3 v2.88 I have been trying to set my idle with my IAC stepper motor. I have a Dark Star IAC body. Idle Control Start Value is 160, Crank Position extend is 100 steps. I have been trying to adjust the idle speed when the engine is warm. I have varied the idle steps at 160 degrees from 10 to 200. All with no visible change. Should I be looking somewhere else to adjust the idle speed when the engine is warm? I have confirmed that the stepper does bottom out at initial reset and then backs off to allow air to flow.
  12. I don't have a very good grasp on ignition advance beyond basic theory. Can someone share their ignition advance table for a EDIS ignition on a normally asperated engine?
  13. Perhaps some people think that the distributor and its associated wiring detracts from the look of the motor. Perhaps some people enjoy the challange. Perhaps they like to be able to control the spark from a computer. Perhaps they want to be different. Perhaps they have nothing better to do with their time.
  14. I am using an EDIS system for ignition. Does MSII/Extra code support EDIS?
  15. It is not exactly working yet. I ordered a new harness from DIY. It has arrived, but unfortunately, I have been out of town since the middle of last week. I may get to look at the harness on Tuesday. It will be a while before I can start on the IAC again. Thanks on the FI setup.
  16. A couple of thoughts: Can you get the car to run with the old ignition system? If so does it run well? When it does run, what is the spark advance at? If it does not run well then you may have other issues as well. Have you checked the compression? Has the cam timing cover ever been removed from the engine? The gear that drives the distributor is run thru the cam timing cover. It is possible that the gear off by one tooth and that can create issues. If you can, go back to as much of the stock setup as possible and get it running and then start making your changes. Change only one thing at a time and verify that it works before moving on. I know nothing about turbo ignition timing but 18 degress advance seems a bit much. What happens if you set your timing down to about 10 degrees?
  17. problem found: apparently, I have a interconnect harness that was not made for the V3 board. There are wires missing from pins 27 & 29 and the ignition shield goes to pin 25.
  18. MSII V3 board. V2.88 code. I purchased an IAC that is designed to fit into a 4.0L Jeep Cherokee inline 6 engine. After ohming out the connector, I found pin 1 & 4 were one coil and pins 2 & 3 were the other coil pair. I have tried IAC moving only and IAC always on settings but the stepper never moves. I have looked at the circuits thru an O'scope and found pins 1 & 2 were square waves driving the coils and pins 3 & 4 were close to ground. I have tried reversing pins 1 & 4 and pins 2 & 3 with still no motion. Is there another point in the config I am missing?
  19. If I had not already spent countless hours first putting a 36-1 timing wheel on the back side of the dampner, then moved it to the front and put the sensor next to the alternator but could not build a strong enough mount so I relocated it to the A/C side and still had a wobbly mount, so I got an A/C mounting bracket from a ZX with the two bolts in the front, mixed and matched the tensioner bracket to make the A/C work and then built two different versions of a VR sensor mount, I would certainly be interested in one of your mounts.
  20. If you think your firing order may be wrong, try changing 2 & 5 with 3 & 4 at the coil pack. It is possible that you got the trigger wires from the EDIS reversed.
  21. She's a Beauty! I am jealous.
  22. As was stated above the sensor is magnet and coil. The direction the 36 - 1 wheel passes the VR sensor makes no difference. The best thing to do is get your hands on an oscilloscope while you are setting up your wiring. Follow the wave forms and make sure that your wiring performs as the wiring indicates.
  23. Nice documentation. I am glad you got it figured out. The spark input signal pins lay out the same as the coils. Ever wonder why the return wire is on pin 3 and not on either pin 1 or 4? My EDIS controller is located right where your's is. Like you I wanted it there to keep the VR cable run as short and clean as possible. That is why I moved my pickup away from the alternator and electric water pump. My electric water pump was so noisey it would fire the injector coils as soon as it was powered up. Now the VR signal is very clean.
  24. When I look at the map tables in the sticky, I see lots of configs for turbo engines but current configs for normally asparated engines are as hard to find as hen's teeth. Does anybody care to share theirs?
