  1. I am doing a 240sx rear caliper conversion and I was able to buy a bracket. The special bracket had the correct dimensions and size holes to mount the OEM Datsun e-brake cables to 240sxcalipers...supposedly it is bolt-on. i think i got them from depot or MSA.
  2. I think it is time get serious and build one of these. Currently my Z has metal square tube instead of bumpers resting on top of a ghetto jig/ $10 Weider bench press and biggest jack stands we have. My dad demands I rotate it, to weld in support rails to the new floor. It looks simple enough and for around $300 It will be a great investment.

  4. I have a 280 Z with a Xenon air dam and after reading this thread I decided to make my own. I'm dropping money on sheet metal anyway.

  6. I thought it was turbo I dont know a whole lot about ZX's I glanced at it while leaving it was the first time the have had early gen z's there it had good set of 5 slot wheels on I hope those hicks don't crush it
  7. I've had too much fun with my molested Datsun I'm starting to eyeball Rb25det FR GT-S swaps complete with unmolested wiring with fuse boxs ,ECU and Transmissions for $2000.00 shipped Does this get 2 more MPG than a L28e fuel injected or somthing
  8. I found resistience on a yellow wire on a white harness C-6 from the engine bay 76" 280Z it turns into a 3 way and one is the Alternator yellow wire ! I think wiper motor and somthing else also A alarm was on the car at one time splice igintition wires decals and horn does not work and what should I do about the sun roof dome light ?   9. I did the curent drawtest the meter got super hot in a second like it was going to blow. I got 0.89000 with a new battery in march I had lots of stuff to do and But like I said after the strange event the guages start blown fuses and the spanking new battery won't charge My stimulius was stolen by the gov. so I had to do forms and stuff it will come in a paper check by early OCT 2008 so I could not get a painless fuse box or find a find a good junkyard donor yet I put a new alter nos alter from JAPAN for $80 a month ago but danm thing won't start just makes air suction noises not clicks?? I took off the dash to find problem the heater tubes fell off the only thing left is the speedo cable wich I won't take off it is suspended on wood blocks there is plenty of room reach around and bottom its a few little hanesses atached but I started testing with a probe light with battery in but I can't seem to get a reading I have tried 16 diffrent surfaces to ground but the thing works on ,my bros car I also found out that the sun roof is a factory option it is bronze like glass I saw a 77 280Z with the exact roof light wire chop like mine and orignal invoice states it is optional Mine is from Mexico D.F. and has the identical roof with papers of diffrent owners from socali to seattle then Idaho where it got a engine transplant the harness was molested by the kid i got it from the the thing looks like its in the 80,000's I have only been behind the wheel about 3 hours total my dad was hoging it the first 10 days the Z has been sitting since April I have started it a copule times and tried to diegnose it a dozen times

  11. Is thier a DYno for this twice pipes it sounds awsome but what kind of power do you get v.s. traditional 2.5 system anyone got a link or video? The price is tempting but I do have plans for a 2.5" system with veilside titanuim sounds like a GT-r killer on 350Z

  13. I would like to known if 280zx injectors fit on a 76 280z since the engine is the same or do they squirt more beacuse theyr turbo ? I have a 280Z 76 I saw a 280zx iin a junkyard they had green plastics on them I'm thinking they are turbo ONE OF MINE WAS LEAKING so I titined the clamps I would like to fix this to take it out of town before summer ends

I would like to know if any has expearince or knodlege of stored gas or how long until its expired/no good I'm guessing 2 months I have a car that died october 14 2007 I got the gas the 2 days before oct 12 2007 exactly 7 gallons of precious BP 93 octane @ $3.26 gall from a certain station that has certided 93 octane where me and my STi wrx friend only put. exact contents fuel stabilizaer added two week older octane boosted 1/4 gas and 1/4 fresh gas = my Half tank of Gas I think it might be to late to use this tank of gas in that car but can it be transfered over my Z ? or Will it just create a mess ? Because my fuel guage doesn't work and I have no clue If I can make it to the Petro on the other side of town I have maybe 1/2 gall and it will slosh around
  15. But it does eliminate the volt reg. An anoying part of the electric wire mess much like fuse links My sockets a T shape not a cross shape like the 280Zx I will have to think about this upgrade and see if my altr. needs a cheap fix or not.

I did a current draw test with 12 volt batt. and came up with .5000 the probe got super hot I also changed the prime suspect Volt Reg. with a new volt reg. because I don't know much about testing the magnets the thing looked 10.y.o My alter tested poor output I will take the alter. to the Master electrtiuon I don't want to open my alter and jack around with it he will test it for free If needs replacment I will most likeley do a 1 wire upgrade myself if its a little $20 brushes diode ect. I'll keep the alter But the fuse for the gauges keeps blowing I will have to get a civic fuse box wich I will get this weekend for $10 Those skanks at summit sent me the wrong one. I'll save like $50 doing it myself. After I get the alter fixed I will do the the fuse box upgrade I put 3gall of gas and pretend I have 3 gall even tho there was a quater tank before the gauges went out.

I found out after the battery incident My battery kept draining and not charging ,After a month I found out the alter. craped out This sawp has a success rate of 9-10 Alternator swap form 280Z 77" to 82" 280ZX non turbo 1-wire alter:o 280Z alternator is rated at 50A. The ZX alternator is rated at 60A (It is physically bigger) but has the same mounts and pulley (also its one freaking wire) wich makes this a 100% bolt & wiring is made easy by the DIY guide http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/alternatorswap/index.html plus eliminate the volt reg to make it more dependable. The only thing I need to know if I need the alternator with ZX pigtail sockets. or with out the sockets. I don't think a new Bosch ZX alter will come with the socket? This guy got a junkyard alter himself but he didn't say anything about the sockets and harness compatible?
  18. I thought they were special order from the Yokohama factory as a optoin or something. Because saw about 5 sun roof Z's online one hade a all metal moon roof that would go up an back like a Prelude the others had one gaint window that opens up it looks like a pro job & it doesn't leak I thought the wiring was exposed by the owner that tryed restore the cars interior. I'm missing alot of plastic rivets for panels I'll try using honda ones The meter my brother took was a bad ass digital multimeter I'll wait until saturday
  19. I took out the holder and cleaned front to back. But I have not been able to use any electric testing devices beacuse my brother took them all to his house , Until next sunday. When I need them the most! I mostly cleaned the wheels and washed the car & sanded & primered rust past few days Here is more pics of the wierd bulb I been having trubole finding sunroof pieces on the web, I wonder how much it is for the oem plastic cover that goes over that gap A british dude said he had sunroof datsun pieces they seem to be rare I'll have to wait for my stimlator tax to arive and my fuse box.

All hell broke lose when that dinky battery was placed on to the Z I don't know if replacing belts could this damage, days before with correct battery it ran well. also after this happend I forgot to mention that I keep hearing a clicking noise from the harness area foot it clicks from start to finish. every 20 sec is that normal I don't remember hearing it when got the car. I finished cleaning the fuse holder it was that bad one that had a little rust was the air con fuse but thier was resadue on most I sanded the holders then wiped with alcahol I will intsall fuses and do the current draw test

I though it was a dead bulb the first time I set foot in it. on the second day I cleaned out the car and took it out & put it back in and it started glowing I could not make it stop it I took it out its now an empty slot what is it for ???? plus I have the normal dome light like every one else. today I took out the battery and all fuses and created a lable chart & cleaned inside fuse holder clips tomarow Ill finish it second I will diagnous the electrical harness and alternator

It was my moms birthday so I couldn't do much except BBQ Fajitas & winies with weekend. today the batt. was at 6volt. from just siting for 3 days mysterious drainage. so I got me a batt charger and its at 13v right now I'm geting the a modern blade fuse box in a couple days from painless. how hard can it be to follow one wire at a time the replace it with a colorcode and lables I will see if fuse holder is corroded it is a 10amp called fuel gauge calaberator on 76' 280z. after the incdeint I put a a new 10 amp it worked for 3days, now it blows every fuse i put in plus the battery keeps draining 2 seperate problems ??????? Also I forgot to ask about the second dome light. I thought it was burnt out like the rear dome light so I took it out to look at the Number then I put it back in and the thing lit up and wouldn't stop glowing I opend and shut trunk&doors so I took it out and the # faded 76 280z is thier a switch for this light its not in haynes book I wish one of my two cars worked I wouldn't have to drive the astro van everywhere Rip Integra 02/12/94 -10/17/07

The voltage regulator was ordered for $17.00 The batt. is at 11v and hasn't dropped like it did last week It raining cant work on it until sunday I think in the engine harness their might be to naked wires touching beacues some where twisted together & not coverd I'm going to soder the harness & covers too also these tubular fuses are pissing me off , I'm use to hondas with one wire alternators and blade fuses & no tubes & regulators or forsaken fuse links. so I'm getiing a UNIVERSAL FUSE BOX 12 circut for the intterior
  24. I will get a new volt reg. from napa for 15$ the batt. volt is at 10 the car won't start I wont try to start it anymore until i get the new regulator I think these are two seprate problems regulator and a short of a relay I just learned how to read diagrams and the horse shoes on volt meters
