So i realized this afternoon im coming up on my five year anniversary of being a member of this site and there were some things i just wanted to say. first off let me say that of the several sites im a member of, this is by far my favorite. And its not just a Z thing... the people here are what make it so special. other sites are filled with people who are close minded, rude, and who dont care unless you have a perfect car. this site nobody teases you for being dumb, ideas are critisized and discussed but people are never attacked. and thats something all levels of enthusiast can appreciate. this is the one group of people that always made me feel welcome whether it be at events or on these boards. so please lets keep this up! So obviously by my post count im more of a reader than poster. lately i have been trying to get my life straight and have bounced back forth between not only my own projects, but friends cars, and also my own personall things. Coming up though things should be smoothing out, so i should be able to offer a lot more to this community in the next 5 years than i have for the past. Here are some updates as to what im doing. For now the AWD RB Z is parked in a friends garage. that project is going to be put off for a long time. there is no telling but trust me when i say.. it will be done some day. and it wont be a drag car. but id be happy to answer any questions about this conversion that i have run into. Also, i just started gathering the parts i needed to build my 2nd Toyota powered Z. big plans for this one. 7mgte as before, and this will be a street car but basically a road racer. it will see LOTS of track days. my old 7m car was parted out by the guy i sold it too.. he wanted to restore it. however, he has not had the time to play with it,and i just recently got that chassis back, so the black 74 pictured in my album will be returning stronger than ever. except i wont have my badass one off custom wheels because Zgad got those. so ill have to do something else there...lol. and i have modded my 350z enough, it will remain my daily for now. eventually when my 7m z is done, i will TT it. So some highlights and thanks you's- Rick-Bowser for always being freindly and informative at events Scotty- who has been in and out, but like me.. just cant get away. who has also offered me advice on how to avoid headaches, and also unknowingly helped to open my mind to really push the creativity envelope when building these cars. John C- what can i say? i dont think this site would be the same without him. as busy as he is, he always made time to answer my questions, even the dumber ones. Ross C- duh. almost every part on my old car came from him. Mike on3go- i know he is gone, but i miss his antics. him and garrett i still see at events, the one a couple years ago we spent all day talking. i still owe hime a race. always a cool guy with me. Gabe wigenouts30- for the support, just look at the sig! Also cyrus, clifton, zgad, and all my fellow toyota bretheren. thanks for bouncing all the ideas back and forth. and last but not least Alex- Auxillary- the master of the nontech board. one day a few years ago i challenged him to a funny picture off.... he beat me, he always wins, but one day... i will beat him. lol. i know im forgetting tons of other people, but really this all goes out to everyone. thanks for making this the internet site i look forward to checking everyday i get home for the last 5 years. i hope the next 5 i can help people like you have helped me! group hug Paul " Ronin" Miller

when will see a dyno and track time? id like to see exactly what you get from that many man hours, headaches, trial and error, fabrication, etc etc.
-
plus http://www.supraforums.com classifieds and http://www.supramania.com
-
how much power are you making now? i would have thought it you would have beaten him by quite a bit by third... but i guess it makes sense.. with ferrari gearing and trac control and all. impressive.. id be proud to take a 430.
-
what are you going to do for engine management?
-
no point really. thats what they will tell you there too. it be cheaper and WAY easier to just bolt on a turbo kit. with the right tuner a stock motor can reliably make 400rwhp all day everyday and that puts 350z's into the low 12s with a decent driver. a vg swap would be a pain in the ass.

Everyone except me... now im just damn depressed.

Anybody making motor mounts for the 7MGTE into 280Z??

im not gonna argue this over and over like on SF. members of this community on the whole are a lot more intelligent then those guys.. especially in the mk3 section. im not saying im smarter than anyone.. but when i did my 1jz build years ago.. me and eric rhodes were getting all sorts of crap mail from people who had never even seen a 1jz car much less had any experience driving/ owning one. you did.. great. but when money is not an issue.. someone who wants more effecient speed, and a more efficient motor is going to take the 1jz all day long. all the head flow crap is stupid. look at it this way.. unless you think your smarter than toyota engineers.. you tell me why they choose the 2jz motor for thier flagship sports car when they were continuing to produce and improve the 1jz motor up untill the late ninetys.. like the single turbo version? I could make the pro-con arguments for a 1jz over a 7m... you can go either way.. but unless you cant afford it.. the 2jz is better choice in jz engines ANY day. find me a 400rwhp pump gas 18psi 1jz dyno where the car runs that sort of psi for longer than 6 months on the stock turbos without a problem.. you wont. ill find you tons of stock turbo 2jz doing it all day everyday for a year and if you find the graph.. it would have near the area under the curve the 2jz has. and what makes you say a 1jz runs smoother than a 2jz? -

if you want to go with the 2jz.. get an auto clip to save some cash.. or just an engine.. the 6 speeds price retarded. you can use a r154 from a mk3 supra and it will cost you a quarter of what it would cost to use the v160. just an idea. you can easily source the parts needed to mate an r154 to the 2jz. -

whoa... thats the first time ive seen your mounts.. you did the tranny the same way i did.. but the motor mounts.. you did COMPLETELY different. hahah.. guess it just goes to show how these hybrid cars can turn out.. same motors.. totally different ways to make it work. -
nm.. worked great.. thanks!

who drives the yellow Z. stock body.. fast.. has some gray primer spots in some random spots.. i dont want to post the lisence plate but lets say its a pretty common Z themed custom plate? saw you today.. sunday.. driving around alpharetta highway?

it lets you dl the content. the videos there are embedded in the web page.. they dont default open the Qt player. ill download and try it.. but it looks like that is just an alternative player.
-
hey.. i wanted to dl the videos of Mark Rolstons Z to my computer but you have to have QT pro and I really dont want to have to spend 30 dollars to get 3 z car vids... anyone that can dl them and repost them so we can download or send them to me? its the World speedway, walk around, and 3rd tune video in his diary. http://web.mac.com/markrolston/iWeb/Site/Z-car.html

if you prefer the supra.. get the supra.. trust me. you dont want to look back in a few months and wish you had just waited and spend the extra 2g's. especially when you run into some nice ones at a car show. awhile ago i had to decide between building the old z and buying another supra.. had to pick one to build first so i picked my first love... a few months ago i bought another mk3. and i couldnt be happier. so hopefully now with room and money.. i will be able to dump lots of money into the z this winter. for me i knew the z would be more race car.. the supra more street car.. and i love that i can drive the supra everyday while i work on the z. although i have my audi to drive everyday.. anyway.. you get the point. although maybe im a bad example cuz there is also the tr4a in the garage.. plus the 440 on the stand.. and the chevy small block im picking up next week... oh god..

275-40/17 Mickey Thompsons DR pics

be sure to let us know how they go when you get to have some cornering fun.. these may be the tires i decide to use. -
well.. its not really the hub to hub that matters, its the hub to hub fitting underneat the fenders.. all you have to do is change the wheel offsets to fit them under the fenders.
-
if you look at the post i made in the old thread.. thats almost exactly what we are doing. full tube chassis. we welded the z body shut and cut the insides out.. we are just gonna drop it down. but we built the tube frame to hold all the stock gtr suspension and brakes etc. the only different is we will have to shorten up the driveshaft it looks like.. and only by a small bit.

john,in the pic of the rusty old datsun.. are you running 16or 17inch wheels? i always have a problem telling wheel size with zg flares for some reason. and amir runs 17inch ccw right?
