  1. it actually helps alot in decision making. a majority of people on here, especially since we are seeing a lot of new members, havtn decided what kind of motor they want. I waited for a month to see alex (sr240z) dyno the sr car with the new turbo to help me decide if i wanted to build another 7m z or try an sr z.. and at that power level... that curve is just way to late.. he doesnt see 300rwhp until 5k, on a 7m i can make 500rwhp at the same 7.5k rpm but make the 300rwhp at 3200 and i will also make 480 ft lb of torque. now i realize, 2 motors drive different, different weights.. but for my purposes that put the nail in. i can have a longer power band, much quicker response, and make the same power at 18psi on 93 oct. im in street car, so the wieght and handling penalty is ok with me. thats why v8 z's are so fun, big long powerband. they dont have to make 600rwhp. I agree with them, dyno may not be accurate, but depending on why your looking at them.. they can be helpful.
  2. you will find that someone here ALWAYS knows. Its amazing the sort of seemingly random information these guys come up with. I am a participating member of probably 50 different automotive forums from euro cars to american cars to whatever.. and this is by far, hands down the best online community there is. These guys are fantastic. If you ask a semi- redundant question they answer it, they dont beat the crap out of you. The only one you have to watch out for is alex (auxillary).. but he more than makes up for it with his off-topic additions. one time i made the mistake of challenging him to a funny pictures match, needless to say i lost.. but what he doesnt know is im building my library and coming back again lol! Anyway, these guys can answer questions about Z's, cars, airplanes, diesel motors.. im telling you it does not matter. alot of guys from this forum are some type of ex-engineer. like if you went to 240sx forums and saw a thread "cummins diesel in my 240?" people would laugh, here.. take it seriously.. someone is really probably about to do it. And also, if John C gives you any advice.. listen.
  3. you guys still running it through an r180?
  4. i just wanted you to know, i just touched my self while looking at your car. and i plan on doing it again later.
  5. oh you and your badass 2j.. haha. actually i did the same on my old one.. i tucked it underneath the latch. pics are in my gallery still i think. anyway.. good luck.. im thinking hard about building another one.. i miss mine.
  6. hey alex! rode in a 3071r s13 today.. holy crap. was making near 400rwhp if not a little over and was burning tires off in third? does your z go anywhere straight?
  7. im fighting with this right now, i stated in another forum i was going to do this as a long term project.. and we have already hit our first obstacle which is this very problem. i was determined to keep the 4 wheel steering as i believe its an important part of the swap for what i want it to be.. but im thinkin its going to a trip.. since as far as i can tell the 4wd computer runs through the stock ecu.. i need to call some people in europe or aus i guess because im not sure it will work right if i run the rb off a stand-alone. which is what most people do during the swap. i do know this.. if you want to keep the attessa system running like factory, you have to install it in a z the way i am.. besically im building a tube frame to fit not only the gtr drivetrain.. but suspension assembly, brakes.. etc. and just welding a z body onto that basically.
  8. yah i feel bad.. when my car gets back from body it will look almost identicle to alex's.. he painted his just the way i wanted.. except mine will be on ccw's most of the time whereas he has the rs wheels. still cant wait to see dyno and numbers.. mine is and will be a street car so im only lookin for maybe 375-400rwhp max. but with a sport turbo on a 7m i can do that will full boost at 2800rpm and all the six cyl torque. i may stick with the supra motors.. i was just thinkin it would be cool to have the weight and weight position id get with an sr.
  9. .. zf tranny.. 1st gear is actually down and to the left by itself, second goes up to the right, then third straight down.. and so on.. its wierd. six inches? my ***.. i have a video of the turbo one.. we had that fire wall protector plate thingy out while we worked on it. the water pump pulley is maybe an inch and a half from your right shoulder. the plastic cover piece has millimeters of clearance.. if you push hard enough.. you can push the cover onto the pulleys. sitting down..you can feel them through your back. those things are built funky. not to mention your feet go almost straight out instead of down. its like sitting on the floor, your heels are almost perfectly aligned with your *** across a vertical line. .. but thats what i would do.. i like that front end best.. but that one doesnt have the delta wing oh well. nice car.. id like to have one with the Hall targa kit.
  10. does it feel laggy?.. thats my biggest concern. i love the weight savings a dist.. but the lag scares me.. i can get a better power/weight with a 7m and have great spool.. but i like the positioning/look of the sr and the ease of working on them.. plus the 7m isnt exactly famous for its affinity for revving.
  11. we built a twin turbo one for a local guy.. i have had the pleasure of working on a few pantera's. i almost bought one a few years ago.. i really really regret not doing in fact all car guys have on major car regret and not buying that car will probably be mine. one of the guys had one with a new 4.6 instead of the 351.. pretty cool stuff. anyway.. one of my faves so im right there with ya rusty..
  12. ^--- agree'd. you will be much happier waiting for the stuff you actually want than just doing random stuff as stepping stones until you can get what you want. it wil be a lot of wasted time and energy.. better off being patient.
  13. Just curious how you guys are coming? im actually holding off on my brother's car until i see how the turbo combo and 4.11 works out for ya'll... hehe.when are We going to get dyno's..vids?..new pics? sorry but im on the edge of my seat. hope everything is coming along for you guys! Paul
  14. yah.. it actually looks like no big deal.. ill post up some pics when i get further along. like i said.. its long term.. so dont expect any constant updates. and right now im working on selling my dd for a new dd.. thinkin of an S4. Anyways.. yah. it looks close.. but lookin at the jap car that was a drag car, its going to push the wheels out a bit.. id like to keep it lookin like an old school z car. the only give away would be any front mount you can see.. the five lug and brakes.. and exhaust.. but hopefully it will look like a nicely modded/restored z. Twin 2530s for awhile.. see how i like it.. then ill move to a big single probably. but id like it to look at home with some zg's and id actually like to run some 16's if i can pass it off. but like i said.. id like some measurements to go off before my gtr clips here. the one i had before the customer is using for an s14 swap. so i cant measure off it.. its gone.
  15. Ok gurus.. need help. I saw the Z measurements... I need: 240z hub to hub which looks like 913 on the stick. i might be blind and didnt see what that was in but i assume is mm. I need hub to hub measurements for the r32 and r33 gtr.. which i assume are the same.. or close. Dont ask why i need it, if you have been following my posts you know, or just use common sense. Pics will be up when i get a little further along but this is long term project so dont get excited. but yeah... help i cant find it anywhere and i need a comparison for obvious reasons.
  16. its not going anywhere..let me know. its an extra motor. blown hg, pistons and walls are perfect.. heads fine. just needs a hg some arps and get stuck back together. tranny is low mileage. has a fairly new clutch actually, but im sure you will want something that can hold some power. i was going to build it into a 9:1 motor for my next big thing.. but thats gonna be a long time so.. its taking up space.. come get it.
  17. hey mike.. sorry i didnt see this.. why in the hell would you not e-mail me? look, if you can make it up to hotlanta for a day, ive got a 7mgte and turbo you can have.. come get it. thats right.. free bitch.. come on!
  18. hate to bring this back.. but how is it coming alex?
  19. a z can be a nice driving car, it just takes going that extra mile, i know of a few that you can jump right in and drive all the time.
  20. I will try to get some.. if i remember, i stay pretty busy, but if i can remember to grab my digi cam ill snap some. like i said, if he goes with the project ill be loosing it. not to say i couldnt get my hands on another... but still
  21. i sold mine before, now im trying to get back into one... does that count for anything?
  22. sorry, one before last, whichever one you came to with your daddy.. hehe.
  23. i was at the last one.. i got there about ten minutes after you left i think.

there won't be another "supra". not anytime soon anyway. they may make another sports car, there is talk at toyota about a limited production super car, something along the lines of the ford GT, however, it wnot be called the supra, it will be names similiar to the lexus line up, some letter and number combination. they have done some prototyping. we all know that means nothing, but they are considering it. The lexus is a nice motor, i like the 3uze, some of the supercharged ones are mean and it it no doubt my favorite sounding motor. find a dyno vid of a lexus v8 with some exhaust.. holy crap. check out australia and find some links to offroaders. a lot of australians use them in crawlers, i know it doesnt sound liek a lead, same kind of mods for hp and tq youd find anywhere else, but they have all kinds of trans set-ups. a lot of adaptors for the v160 and r154 so you can put a nice 5-6 speed behind it.
