Len, what part of the injection system sucks, that it wont run a larger injector? Fuel pump I'm sure is a good one, and the rail might have to go (I was figuring on trashing it anyway), but other than that? All I can really think of is being stank rich on the low end, if running a constant fuel pressure and injector setup greater than stock, without a rising rate pressure regulator (which I dont know how effective those are yet).
-
I've seen this several places, and I find out later the guy that snapped it is on an email list I'm on, its a buddies car.
-
I'd rather upgrade the whole lot of the injectors! I believe that is part of what Scotty was getting at also.

I dont know the numbers on the new bug, but they basic design was definately not intended for high speeds. The old cars got VERY unsafe at 100+ MPH. The topside of a 4th gen Camaro is actually pretty decent, just block the air in the front for super high speeds, but I can say at 150 with my suspension it was rock solid stable, not a hint of any kind of twitching at all, and its not even a Vette

I want an oil cooler, for my soon to be turbo swap, but some people prefer high oil temps (270ish) and lower coolant temps. This is not always easily achieved, but this way (theoretically) water and other contaminents burn out of the oil better.

More Foolishness From Street Racing......Video Inside!
Mudge replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
Alot of people just plain have no sense of consideration for others, or if they do its often after the fact. People get shot or stabbed for looking at someone the "wrong way" nowdays, its just a bunch of BS. I think there are at least half a dozen obvious reasons for this, and I dont think it will get any better. I thought that the idiot, just hit a guard rail, but its hard for me to tell much of anything other than I see a big shot of dust. Another stupid Integra video I've seen, resulted in two deaths. White Teg in either Aussieland or Britain (thier accents), went high speed off a bit of a raise in the pavement (uphill) and came down and flipped, landed on the roof to the side of the road, dead. -
Had to listen the BIGGEST RICER BS story today!!!!!!

I've heard about this supposed CRX, I dont know if it was on this forum or another though. -
People will smoke or drink, or shoot or snort what they want. I realize you weren't starting a "Got Beer?" campaign, but you seemed to downplay that dopers were worse off than alcoholics which I staunchly do not agree with, even though you have had first hand experience with a very negative parental problem apperantly, just as my mom had. Some people are unfortunately weak and they let themselves be ruled by substances, instead of taking control. I for one enjoyed drinking occasionally, or doing other things (acid), but I never enjoyed being out of control of myself for long periods of time, nor frequently, so I never abused anything - it just doesn't suit me. If someone doesn't feel guilty about thier health, or the cost of doing drugs being a waste (on a regular basis), then I think they have a problem.

It can cause you to run richer if its overfilling the float bowl, look for an index on what your carb wants to see for fuel pressure. Unfortunately unrelated, but the Webers I have want to see 3 psi about, after that they just overfill the floats and run rich.

Sorry but I dont buy that at all, there are people who have problems with alcohol in a big way, I know people who smoked pot and had no addiction problems. Alcohol kills in a big way, and does plenty of damage to familes thanks to abusive fathers and sometimes mothers, who drink, just as my mom had to put up with in her family. To recount, they were a military family and my grandpa was a high ranking officer. He pushed his wife out of a second story window, she lived. One brother shot another when they weren't even 10 years old, right in front of my mom. Alcohol is a huge problem, but yes its legal and I see no reason to change that. However it is still legal, and why do we need to outlaw everything? Do we need to babysit for those who can't take care of thier own well being? If that were the case we'd have to outlaw drills, because some guy stuck one up his nose when he had an itch. We'd have to outlaw pencils because it could be used as a weapon, when is too much just too much? People are going to drink and smoke what they want, and in my experience its kids who prefer to do illegal things because they are young and its cool, more so than now that I'm getting near 30 and I dont see any of this, nor do I hang out with people with those kind of problems. People let things rule thier lives instead of being in control, but I dont see the reason to punish the rest of us for a few people and thier misconduct. This all reminds me of the current ephedra/ephedrine BS, because a couple people overdosed on it and lost thier lives. 70 million a year die from alcohol or smoking combined, and there has yet to be a single proven death from ephedra/ephedrine other than the obvious overdosers. Stupid people do stupid things, nothing new.

Since you can turn up the boost, it depends on what kind of car setup you want. WIth more compression you have to keep the boost down, and you can make more torque, with less top end. With lower compression you can make more top end with more boost, but lose a little torque, since stock these cars make peak torque at 2800 vs a hot NA car making it at 4400 or something very high, I hardly see the need to raise compression, or the desire, especially on street gas.
-
7 million people die each year from smoking and drinking, so I hardly see pot as a serious threat other than its pretty hard on the lungs. I dont smoke it though, and I dont smoke anything.

Data logging isn't really cheap, I'd expect $1500 is a bargain and $2000-$2500 is more the norm. I hardly pay attention to these setups because of the price, but I have come across a couple people that have them. It basically seems to be an accelerometer with a brain, and data logging, so I think it is a bit overpriced perhaps. The more complex stuff though ($$$) will have sensors at every suspension point. Would be neat, but until you do some serious racing and have the experience I think it to be more a distraction, and money should go elsewhere, seat time or otherwise. -
Why are you looking at pictures for an idea on setup? Tripples are tripples, they are going to look very close to the same. What you need is data. There are at least 3 different size tripples to choose from, figure what power your going to make and go from there.

The pic of an R230 that I saw, made it look very fat and extremely short(?)

Some Tough ?????? HERE (280Z aero Drag numbers sought)
Mudge replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
There is a guy doing open road stuff, he sent me some pix which I could put up or send. He didn't seem to do a tremendous amount of work either. So, like many old 60s/70s cars, they wont be aerodynamically super like some of todays cars, but they can go fast. It will just take more power, and maybe some more precautions aero wise to keep you on the ground. -
You can do anything, but it doesn't always mean its the safest or wisest. When you can get the whole engine, why try to economize by doing things half way? You will also be limited in horsepower and again safety in terms of engine duty.

I wouldn't doubt it, Porsche doesn't slack off either when it comes to putting money in testing, it would be assanine to even imply that they dont, but the car is what it is and the results are what they are. Even full on race teams make mistakes now and then which produce some drastic results.

Yep, supposedly some people died because of that. I heard about it on a British review program.

Since you say your timing is off, that will definately effect idle vacuum. Get it set and check again

Bah, not me, NA cars with FI can make 500 HP and 17 MPG city

MSD has one with a fully programmable MAP. Easily found in Summit or Jegs, works along with a 6/7/8 series, its $379 last I saw.
