I'll give the pump a check in the morning... by some freakish coincidence in the process of overheating the module in my distributor managed to fry itself...haha...I don't think my car likes me... but I can pick one up for $15 - $30, so no biggie...assuming I don't have to replace the water pump also... Ok, the belt that runs my water pumped, which is BRAND NEW, just popped right off last night while I'm driving down the road, and the temp guage goes off the scale, smoke pours out of the radiator, and I go nuts for a little bit. I'm in the parking lot, get the belt back on...and ease down the road with no trouble...(keep in mind the car has a brand new Griffin radiator in it...) next day (today) I'm coming home from work and the temp guage starts wagging around (???...maybe it broke the night before...) like quickly going from 185 to 230 and back again...no way I think...then smoke spills out of the overflow on the radiator...and I pull over into a driveway...pop the hood and coolant is spewing everywhere...the belt is still on...???!?!?!?! What has happened to my car. (Also there was a pop before the smoke, but I think it was the pressure hitting the top of the overflow {I hope.}...there wasn't any smell or oil anywhere, besides the smell of coolant...) JB

FnF was a good movie for anyone who likes fast cars. Period. You shouldn't bash it, there have been MUCH WORSE racing movies made. Oh, and BTW, one of the fatsest cars in the movie was a rwd domestic car. JB

I know it's possible to make a nitrous system hard to find, but are there any ways of checking someone out before you race them to know for sure whether or not they're juicing? I've heard guys on here talk about white residue in the exhuast tip...but, couldn't it be scrubbed away fairly easily? If they pop the hood, what should I look for on a fuel injected vehicle...what about a carborated? Any help would be really appreciated...and um...how difficult is it to get a '98 Maxima and/or a Mustang LX hatchback into the 11's? I'm guessing it's alot easier to get the Mustang down into a good quarter time... what should I look for, in essence, under the hoods of either, to know if they have some serious cash under there, and...if they are just spraying, how hard would it be for my sbc350 (with several mods to the motor) to waste them? Thanks in advance... JB

Pretty bad for both obviously...SRT-4's will run low 14's stock...and yes, 350's will get into the 13's...so the 350z will win hands down with equally skilled drivers... but I don't know about on snow/ice???? They shoulda raced on a different night. JB

I roll into Wal-Mart today to exchange something, and I spend a minute riding around the parking lot looking for a good spot...never found one, so I parked way out near the highway. As I'm walking up to the store, a guy in a Harley D. Edition F-150 steps out of his truck and walks up to me quickly. He says: "What kind of car is that you have man? What is that an old school Porsche?" I laughed a little, and said, "Naw man, that's a 240z." I got the usual..."Oh really?!" I continued to explain that it wasn't JUST a 240z. When I started talking about quarter mile times etc he just whistled and made noises, so I don't think he had a clue what I was talking about...but oh well... I didn't bother telling him I'd gladly line my Z up with any of the local Porsches... JB

I'm getting ready to install a split pipe that will switch my sbc350 240 from GlasPaks to Flowmasters. It isn't very hard to do once you have the piping run...it's accomplished with an adaptor that splits one pipe into two pipes. The adaptor contains a "door" that closes one pipe at the flip of a switch. If you'd like to know where you can get one drop me an e-mail. phstightend@hotmail.com

Haha. Well I haven't had my sbc 240 but a few days, and after (nearly) resolving most of the cooling issues. I took her for a spin in hunt of one of the many local ricers. Well my heart just swelled when I caught a glimpse of the local "quick" SRT-4. Haha. I didn't even have to pick the fight, he's revving away at the red light as I pull up behind him. The light changes green and he takes off...I goto first and just ease down (easy on the tires ) pick up a little speed, stand on it, catch a tire...pass him...shift to second...lol...and turn. I'd seen enough. SRT-4's are quick little cars stock, I'll give them that. I mean 14's in a car at that price is exeptionally good. It was fun, but I better go ahead and go jump on some of the 5.0 Stallions running around here...and one new GT who has a fast reputation...then again, when you race stock Acuras in a GT, you would likly get a fast rep... Can't wait for that kill...he was revving at me the other day and I didn't notice until I stopped at my buddies who'd heard him...in fact, I hadn't even noticed he was in front of me... Yeah, I have the "blue long nosed" one. I'm not sure about the water pump, I haven't checked it out yet. I've only had the car for 4 days, so I've been focusing on getting the temp guage, and some wiring issues fixed. Now I can completly focus on the cooling. I'm thinking with a fan out of an SHO it'll drop the average temp to about 175 or 180...right now I'm averaging about 190. Every now and again after extended driving in town it gets up to 200 - 210. Still safe, but large increments. I'd be happy if I could get it to hang at 180. Thanks for the help, I'll try some of that "Ice Water" too. JB
