  1. I like the idea of stainless steel over aluminum. But .......... it says that they are made by 'CAT RACING PRODUCTS', I've never heard of them and I'm kinda skeptical of parts from manufacturers I don't know.
  2. Thanks for the input. I don't have the pictured Z anymore and am on the lookout for a new shell, but I wanted to get the motor part sorted out first this time. I, however will probably by an 88 300ZX this week from my brother-in-law for about $900. It runs great, looks good (one dented fender), and I'll be able to use that if I decide to get a second job to help build the motor I want to. Once I get enough money to build the motor I want, I'll sell the ZX and buy a decent shell [70-78] to play with.
  3. Just a general question. Can a TBI motor (91 Camaro 305) be switched to a Carb setup without changing engine internals?? I was thinking about throwing together a quick (cheap) swap until I decide what I'm going to do for a permanent Z fix. I have an "in" on a 91 Camaro RS with the 305. Should be suitable enough for now while I do the buildup on a new motor. Maybe, I'll start looking for a car now huh?
  4. Ok, so the wheels have begun to turn again and I've been thinking about building my engine and this is what I was thinking. Opinions are appreciated. SBC 350, .030, steel crank, forged pistons and rods, Aluminum Roller Rockers, 1.5 ratio, Hydraulic Comp Cam 280H (Lift: .480''Duration: 280°) Sportsman II heads (64cc), Edelbrock Performer Air-Gap intake manifold Edelbrock 1406 Carb (600 cfm) HEI Distributor Edelbrock Aluminum water pump 20% underdrive crank pulley Block hugger headers Milodon windage tray Any suggestions??
  5. CANCELLED altogether............ The vet called this morning and now the dog has to see a specialist. So, needless to say that will take weeks and the unit has opted to send somebody else. Kinda sucks for this poor guy, I had about a month to prepare and he's got about 5 days. Kinda sucks for me too though. Now I'll be thrown into the Desert rotation that starts at the beginning of the year. Better money, but longer and they're still shootin at us .... Oh well, time to start thinking about the next project. Anybody got a super cheap Z for sale in the southeast????
  6. Well, as some of you may know I was set to go to Gitmo this week. I was supposed to fly out at 0400 on Thursday. Well, on my way out the door the vet called with some news that put me on hold. Apparently my MWD (Military Working Dog) came up with some liver abnormalities that undoubtedly required some more testing before he'd clear us. So, here I am stuck all packed and ready to go, with ...... umm, nowhere to go. I'm supposed to find the results of the 2nd/3rd blood test results at the beginning of next week. What a PITA, I should have been on ground and setup by now. Well, at least I have one more weekend huh. May have been a little more fun if my car wasn't stored up for the trip ehhh???
  7. SO .... would they think the modified cars over here absurd compared to theirs?
  8. Ya know........... I was soooooooo close to posting the name of the person who got me and the scenario of the problem. But, when I was complimented for my maturity for not doing so, I just couldn't do it. Besides, I didn't want to be caught in the middle of a post that would take hours to read eventually, because of the differing opinions on the matter. I'll just wait for the personal satisfaction I'll have if I even run into this person. The funny part is, I have family in the town he's in..... HA!! Take that for maturity!!
  9. You're just not applying yourself Aux....... It seems to be pretty easy to get screwed in these parts.......
  10. There seems to be alot of being screwed going on lately.
  11. Looks Great!!!!! But, are you sure it's going to clear the hood?? It looks like it may be a little tight.
  12. ok ok ok, the charade has to stop. Yeah, I think I would of had to hang myself for that one........ Add a few zero's and a decimal point (for change) and that's what I got ....... I just happen to catch a guy looking for exactly what I had and obviously he had some money to spend .. Apparently he was the type of guy that had an original close to when they first came out. The nostalgia and the fact it was going to be a father/son project I think put him over the edge. Well that and a little embelishment of the high offer at the time...... Rest assured guys, I may be dumb for buying some crap parts, but I think I would have had to slap him if he came at me with a 1k offer....... Anyway, I'm heading to the strip club (don't tell the wife), if I get there in time I can make the free wings deal they got going around this time of day.....
  13. Well, when your high offer backs out last second and you NEED to get rid of it................Things happen ya know...
  14. Well to be honest the whole deal infuriates me still. I need some prozac or something..... Either way, I just couldn't turn down $1,000 bucks cash ya know.... Anyway, I'm leaving for Cuba on Tuesday. I should have some time to decide what I'll tackle next, or who I'll pay a visit to when I get back... Either way I'll keep ya posted. Maybe I'll send some nice action photo's from inside the prison J/k .....
  15. Rolled out this morning. I got an offer that I just couldn't refuse.... Hell, I might not have refused it if I finished the project....
  16. Just to answer the most common question I've had .... I'm not looking for a certain dollar amount at all ..... the high offer walks with it all!
  17. Well, like I said.... I don't really have the time to part it out, I just want it all gone. I have a very promising offer developing as we speak. We'll see how it turns out though on Thursday......
  18. Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I've pretty much made up my mind on this.... Maybe I'll get enough to be able to pay off the credit card I went so far into debt with for this engine deal. This wasn't the first setback on the swap, I was able to adapt and overcome the rest, but the financial loss on this last one was "the straw that broke the camels back' (or whatever the phrase is) Maybe I'll get another Z down the road, just not anytime soon.. As far as this one goes though, the whole experience was ruined in my eyes.........
  19. More items added, see bottom of original post..
  20. Thanks for the interest of the guys who want individual parts. I however, need to get rid of it all at once. I'm leaving for Gitmo next week and am losing my storage space, which is basically equal to a three car garage. I was doing the work at my parents house, and they may be moving before I get back, and their health isn't the best to leave a complete unfinished project for them to move as well. The only space I have available is the single car garage at my house, and I have to share that with the wife/dog/kid...... There's waaaay too much stuff to fit in this tiny spot. As far as getting a JY motor...... I basically ran out of time. I needed to have this thing running and in one piece before I left , but due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to finish. Basically, the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth and I need to off-load.
  21. Oh yeah. You can see pics here.... http://hybridz.org/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=coppermine&file=thumbnails&album=100

  23. Yeah, I was going to order a set of those when I got to that point. After dropping all the money on the lemon, it might be a while before I can get the block squared away. I was just curious, I wanted to see if the guy at trickflow just shot a number off to get me off of the phone (seemed bored with my questions), or if he gave me good info. I knew I'd have to use the adjustable pushrods before I committed to a definate length because of the possibility of the block I end up with or the heads, being surfaced at all.
