  1. Well, I'm still waiting to get started. The mounts that were supposed to be MSA look more like Scarab style spacers than anything. No biggie, Just waiting on that stuff now. I guess I can start stripping out the L24 and prepping the enigne bay.
  2. I'd definately take a few of each. I have an idea though. How many people would be interested in a windshield decal? You know the kind that's at the top of the glass over the tinted area? Would there be anybody interested in that? Just a thought.
  3. Hey guys I know there were some orders placed a ways back. Is any of this stuff still floating around? Tim, didn't you have a hand in that??? I'm interested in getting my hands on some of this stuff if I could. If anybody knows of any existing stuff or wants to get another production run started I'd be eternally greatful . Thanks

  5. Yeah it's the Savage set-up. Hopefully it's all it's cracked up to be. I still need to locate a shop that has an engine dyno so I can see. Hopefully they're be no surprises and I can get it in SOON!!!
  6. Definately have the JTR book. That was the first thing I ever bought for the car. I always knew the swap is what I wanted to do. I've had the book for about a year already and have read it so much that it's kinda falling apart
  7. Well, just figured I'd formally introduce myself to this end of the board. I finally got my complete SBC 350/700R4 package the other day and will be getting started next week. I'm hoping to only have the car down for about 3-4 weeks, is that a reasonable goal for a first time swapper??? My dad will be helping out (read, supervising), because he's the master mechanic guy. I'm just the so called rookie. But I'm all the muscle, he's just the brains So what do you guys think is a good "man-hour" time estimate, if I have all the parts ready to go and the "while I'm at it" syndrome will be kept to a minimum?? Opinions are greatly appreciated guys!! Wish me luck (good)!!
  8. Thanks for the suggestions guys. It fixed itself though. i buttoned everything all up this morning to go out to the Triad Z car show and turned the lights on while it was warming up. Everything worked. I can only assume that it was in fact the Combo switch though. Nothing was working and that was the last thing that I did (messing with the switch). I had unplugged it and was going to try hooking up a spare switch that I had in the garage, but the connections were a little different. So, I just plugged the old one back in and now everything works. Go figure Thanks again guys!
  9. Well, all the marker lights have been shaved. I'll go check the left over connections in the morning but................. all the fuses at the fuse box were fine.
  10. Hey guys, after searching through the archives for a few hours the other night when I was supposed to be working looking for vid's and pic's of random Z stuff.   11. Wow, somebody decided to breathe s'more life into the thread . Well, Gary the engines here and will go to pick it up in the morning. There will be TONS more pics added when this swap thingy is done . Well, in progress pics too!! I do need to find a dyno machine before I pull the L24 just to see exactly what it's got (definately not stock). For a future reference for a sale or maybe find another Z for it (have my eye on one already).   12. I went out to the Z after a trip to the movies and I turn the lights on and notice the instrument panel lights were slow to come on. Like a 2 second delay after I turn on the headlights. I knew it was odd and shut off and on the lights a couple times just to make sure it just wasn't me. Still did it. So we were driving home from the movies with my wife in the car, which is very rare for her to ride in the Z. Anyway, smelt a burning smell and noticed my guage lights went out. I pulled over to prepare to fight a fire but there was nothing. Just the smell. I checked all the fuses, made sure at least the headlights were working and got her home. Once I got home I really looked under the dash for the obvious melted wiring because I thought it just had to be a short somewhere. Anyway, I check all the fuses, wiring and stuff and came up with nothing. Am I forgetting anything? Oh, and the tail lights went out too. I have turn signals/brake/reverse/head lights, but no running or guage lights. Is there some super secret thingy mawhoseit that I'm forgetting?????? TIA guys!

  17. IMHO, Get what you can for parts, then give the shell away.... That way you can make a little cash to help you with your next semester of school and you get rid of the chassis. It's alway easier to give a bare chassis away than to try and sell it. Most people want at least a LITTLE something to start with and what the hell, if it's free more people would be interested. I only say give the body away because it's only fair to the new owner if he/she has a buttload of DMV fees to deal with.
  18. It figures you guys would ask for the side view after I deleted it from my album. lol As far as mounting them, I just ordered the flush mount kit minus the mirrors from MSA. If I remember right the mounting plates were less than $20. I had to drill a couple more holes in the plates to match the mirrors, but all in all it was a very simple installation. Next mod is the motor if it ever gets here.....

  20. I had one of theirs on my last Z for over a year and never had any problems, and have ordered one for my current Z. You still have to protect them from direct sunlight to prevent that type of thing from happening.
  21. You guys don't want any of those. They're Uggggggly!!!! They're hard to see out of......ummmmm, they're really crappy........ummmmmmmmmmm, and I want mine to stay rare and unique

  23. This is a travesty, I used to like those too!!! (the Cutlass I mean) Think I could get 14,000 for parting it out??? Maybe it's be worth it just to put the car out of its misery.
