  1. Nice! Ya rims are a bitch theses days. I would have liked some wide 15's to keep that old school look, but the rubber is just not as avail as I'd like..especially if I am going to spend large $$ on rims. That is why I went with the 17's I figure they will keep making tires to fit Vipers so I'll be just fine. hehehe
  2. I miss the sound of my triple webers singing at 8k rpm! Pure Evil that engine was. V8 idle, wicked top end, and wouldn't die on the track. A real head turner..cops too.. I prefer the wicked feel of hp/trq and the driveablity..might be my old age speaking now...hehehe I have 100hp more, and I can hear myself think while driving, and still get 28mpg while cruising. BUT For the track, I miss my inline triple weber setup for the sheer sound! Scott.
  3. Thanks! 283VZ- your right. The dyno runs were cut off short. (5k rpm) that is video of my first untuned dyno session 4 days before I put the car in winter storage. I didn't want to break it. It was just to get some winter time bench racing stats. hehehe. Only the track footage gets the full treatment of high rpm shifts. The rest is pretty tame with 5500rpm shifts. I'll have to get some more in car footage on the track to record the engines full song!
  4. I am testing out my new video editing program (Adobe Premier) It is more complicated than my last editor, but has lots of other features, that will take some time to learn. It took me a few hours to plan and build it. It is much easier to add titles, and line up audio tracks. Its been a lot of fun playing with it. There will be more videos in the future! Ahhh sometimes winter hibernation can be enjoyable. Anyways, enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ZR8ED
  5. Well I remember when road rage got the better of me....Attention...Lesson to be learned here... Getting on the highway with a very tight 50kph reducing radius onramp. A dude in a dark car gets behind me.. so close I could not see his headlights...or much of his hood! I thought...Ok so ya wanna go fast eh? Seeya Sucker! I nail the throttle, and I merge on to the highway doing 160kph. (100mph) The highway has a curve, and drops down and backup around a railway bridge. I never even merge into the middle of left lanes.. I am only in the right lane. I let off and cruise at about the limit 110kph. Were is the lesson? Well the dude on my A$$ was an undercover police cruiser on a Saturday night mission to hunt drag racers (his words not mine) Got the car impounded, and summons to court. got it thrown out. The crown attourney appealed, and I was recharged and had to go to court again. This time I got a lawyer. Made a court date outside the 6month window for the courts to appeal and recharge me. (as many times as they see fit within 6months of the original charge.) I got off lucky again. Lesson learned.. Ya never know who the other guy may be.....That pretty much ended my speeding career...I don't want to go through that again..
  6. Very Nice. It is the first car that I ever owned that actually made me want to sell my 78 280Z. My 300zxt was #75. The bodysonic seats were pretty cool! It handled very well, smooth driving, lots of power. It was like a perfect street Z to me. I still miss mine. The only difference with mine was that the previous owner painted over the two tone, and made the car all black. Still cool though.

  8. I am a Technical Service Rep for a large chemical company. I provide permanent onsite technical service at large OEM paint shops. I currently work at a plant that has an 400ft long prime booth, and 2 800ft long basecoat/clearcoat booths that paint about 800 vehicles per day. I help the Robotic Engineers setup, and maintain paint colour/filmbuild thickness/appearance on a vehicle. I have setup spray parameters on several vehicles that many of you drive everyday. I am most busy when setting up a new model launch, or model year colour pallet changes. Once a vehicle is in full production, I help advise them day to day on how to maintain the desired characteristics as hundreds of other variables affect production. I am also responsible for the supply of paints/solvents at the site. I order a lot of paint. 8-10K gallons per week!!!! Great job. Very demanding, always changing. There's never a dull moment in the world of paint!
  9. I had 3 passengers in mine once upon a time. 2 in the hatch area! Not a great idea. 100mph on the highway, and next season.. wala I magically needed new shocks! i wouldn't do it knowing what I know now. too hard on the suspension! Scott.
  10. Hey. We all come and go from the world of Z's at some point for many different reasons. Welcome back!
  11. Mike. You really need to fundraise enough to cover the paypal fees. Fundraise to cover the full 3500 in cash for the rental. Scott
  12. I'm in. Donatation sent! This is a mod that I'm interested in seeing the effects.. especially since I will be trying one for myself. I'm going to make a mould and possibly make a few if it works out for me. Thanks, Scott.
  13. Well I just checked myself, and I've been here since May of 2000. I was very active at Zcar.com, and watched Kyle launch Zdriver.com (using my Z as his certre piece) (sorry for bragging hehehe) I tracked down just about every Z website I could find back in the mid to late 90's I had over 450 bookmarks! Many have come and gone. Many members have come and gone on the Z sites that I have frequented over the years. If I don't post, I still lurk. I do more research now more than anything. Before I had lots of time on my hands (college..then a job with computer access and not much to do) I was chatting, and checking in and posted several times a day, and sometimes all night if I was on nightshift. I've been active on the Z forums since the mid 90's. Now I just have head back out the MSA show again. Lots of fun. Maybe bring my Z this time!
  14. Said after being kicked out of the moon theme park on the moon. "Fine I'll build my own theme park! With Hookers! And Blackjack! .... Ahh forget the theme park!" Said by Bender the robot from Futurama. Other bender lines: "Listen, skin tube" "Bite my shiny metal ass!" "Humans reproducing by shooting DNA at eachother, I find the whole thing Repulsive"
  15. Lots of non LSD's with finned covers. 1986+ years. Becareful. Scott.
  16. I just brought the car home 20 min ago and shot a few quick pics. I had to do it inside the garage because it was getting pretty dark already. I need some final body prep to make sure everything is ok, then its time to shoot some paint on'er. I quite happy with the look. It looks factory like, like it belongs. The car now has a nice and low stance from the rear. Makes it look wider and makes the wheels look wider too. Strange how seeing less tire height, gives it a wider appearance. Me likes. Now I really am a "Fat Bottom Boy" hehe
  17. I pretty happy with the work so far. Still lots to do. I'm not sure if I will continue with the front and sides skirts this year. I'd like to get to work on some electrics, and hopefully some new rear brakes. Thehelix112: Yea. styling won over function. I will still do a bellypan in the rear. The bottom of the skirting doesn't come any lower than the bottom of the bellypan that was removed, so I think I can still make it work. More measurements will be required. The original use of the pan (for me) was to reduce fumes getting in the car by keeping the air under the car moving quickly, and taking the exhaust with it. (It didn't really work) It looked cool, and it didn't negatively affect the handling of the car or hurt my cruising mpg, so the experiment was not a total failure. Ohh and I didn't die during high speed runs, so that was a plus as well. Olderthanme : Yup the car will be repainted black..I didn't like the idea of a red rear skirt on the car.. hehehe just kidding motorhead427 (I understand what you were illustrating) Zero :Yes the lambo in the fore and background are lambo kits. There are two other cars, another lambo, and a ferrari kit car in the shop, in various stages of completion... Boy are those Lambo's wide! and LOW!
  18. As promised. Some update pics of the progress as of today. Hmm who woulda thunk that custom bodywork was not cheap! Progress is moving along nicely, but so is the price. Lots of details being worked out, and some rework of the flares themselves to remove some unevenness. Won't be long now...
  19. Here are my attempts at redirecting air from the airdam/hood opening into only the i/c and rad. On a side note. My hood used to quiver/shake/lift while driving at normal and above normal highway speeds. After these two aluminum pieces were added, it completely stopped shaking at speed. BTW with my old L6 (highly modded if anyone cares to remember) Saw sustained speeds of 7400rpm in 5th with a 4.11 rearend, and 24.5" diameter tires. My calcs at the time put it around 148mph. That is with suspension mods, lowered, airdam, bellypan, rear wing, etc. I am watching intently with these aero mod discussions, as I have been interested and working with them for some time now. I am by far NOT an aero expert. I do know that our speedo's are no good for testing, but I also have not been afraid to cautiously experiment. I'll have to get involved to some extent with this wind tunnel stuff. Heck I'd pay to have some good info to help me make some intelligent mods. (granted that not all of my mods have been with aero in mind..my big flares being the big one) Thanks, Scott.
  20. Thanks Eric! You weren't too late. I took the pics with me and showed the guy. He liked the idea, and it followed very closely with what he had been working with. Mine won't be blended in completely to the rear. It is actually going to have a slight lip before continuing down with the same curve. I'll have pics this week of the progress. I really like the ideas of the side skirts. In speaking with the body guy, he suggested to save money, it would be easier to have something to modify, as opposed to creating something from thin air. (cheaper, less hours to produce) I am now looking for sideskirts for other cars that I can use to work with. (I am currently kicking myself for selling my old MSA side skirts) I also liked the idea on the front. My rubber strip around the front is now looking a bit too "bolt on" for the rest of the car. It will require a redesign as well. But that will be another time.. I really appreciate the ideas from everyone. It is amazing sometimes. All the years and all the Z's I've seen, and sometimes I can just draw a blank, when trying to personalize the car, and try to visualize changes to it. Thanks, Scott.
  21. Here is my last dyno run (last fall) I don't have gobs of hp, but it sure is nice and flat. It is very easy to drive, but it also doesn't feel very fast because the car pulls as hard at 3500 as it does at 5000. (butt dyno) Stock cams, t3/t4 hybrid turbo, huge i/c 3" ss exhaust 2.5" i/c piping. 60mm tb stock heads.
  22. Thanks for the ideas. The Z has been sent to bodywork jail. I had some more discussions with the owner/operator of the shop, and have come to an understanding of what is to happen. I gave him some styling freedom as well. I had been looking at other mfg'd cars and took some styling cues from some newer porsches, mustangs, and a few other domestics. It will be reworked with a rear belly pan, but that won't likely happen till later in the winter, as I will do it myself, now that I have some aluminum fab experience It is currently wedged in amongst 3 Lamborghinis ok ok so they are kits, but even a kit lambo is expensive looking! hehehe. None of them have anything under their hoods that can touch me! hehehe I'll post some pics next week when I check the progress. Thanks
  23. WOW man! Looks great. Ultra clean! It is a HUGE transformation since you took me for a quick blast after our Hybridz MSA mini meet!
  24. Ok My turn. This thread got started after I posted about my garage beign "ready" for winter. It still needs some organization, but it is better than my last one. (An openair limestone driveway) Here go's... BTW I'm can you guess what movie I have on? hehehe Scott
