  1. Well.. Up here in Canada.. the winters can be pretty brutal on Z's, but there are many up here.. and restored ones are not uncommon.. Now you say "big deal".. but.. the US exchange rate makes prices pretty good up here.. for eg. my mech sold a low mileage 260 with recent rebuild, headers and webers.. body kit, G nose, lowered with custom rims and ground effects for 8K.. sound like a lot?... thats only about 5K US after all is said and done.. and this was NICE.. no rust. only 48K miles. Black on black.. good paint and tires. There is one more for sale up here. 275hp l28, webers, coilovers, lsd, sway bars, bushings, two sets of 15x7 rims, roll bar, ground effects, dual exhuast with supertrapps, paint is ok, interior is good, white with black interior.. oh and a set of steel rims for storage.. can steal it for 7k cdn I think.
  2. My solution was even easier! Ya see to be a Canadian without owning a couple of hockey pucks is an federal offence. I picked this up from a GT2 racer. He removed his rubber coupler from his Z and used a new NHL regulation hockey puck. Yup that is what I said. Works great, and I've been using one for almost 10 years now.. and plenty of track time as well... Zero probs or concerns. And I always have a puck to display if the police ask where my regulation puck is! BTW just use the old coupler as a template, and drill some holes.. Low budget eh? crazy right?.. YOU BET!!
  3. Piece of cake. I had to ADD another knuckle on my steering system to go around my turbo. I ordered one from the local pro street shop.. no prob on finding one that fits.. Mine is welded onto the shaft at one end, and is attached using 3 split pins along the shaft, as well as a couple of tack welds.. (so I can get it appart if needed) Just bring your old one with you for sizing..
  4. Hey all. I spent the last hour or two installing the new guage. It reads in Kg/cm Squared. I took it out for a boot, and it read approx .3-.4 Uhh .. What am I looking at? Thanks,
  5. I have a boost guage on my 280 that reads in psi.. ie 18psi of boost right now. Q. I had a Greddy boost guage offered to me (reg price $229.00) still in box for $50 Prob is it reads in another format. ie .5 - 2.0 not sure the units of measurement. what is the units, and how do I convert it to psi (which I can relate to..) I want to put it on my 300zxt, as the stock guage is ****. Currently the 300zxt is boosted to approx 9-10 psi.. not sure.. that is why I need the guage... not sure how the other guage reads. if it reads .7, I would not know what that meant? Thanks,
  6. Anyone converted to 5 lug hubs using datsun/nissan equipment? I already have 300zx rotors on the front, and only needed a spacer to adapt them to my 280Z hubs... I wonder if the 300zx hubs themselves would fit on a 280? 300zx parts are very easy for me to get a hold of. Converting the back is different again, but I have not thought that far.. I'm only thinking of using nissan, because I have access to several Z31 parts cars right now... Anyone tried? if not, I'm going to pull a 300zx hub and try and fit it.. nothing to lose. Why the sudden though of 5 lug?.. I just found a wicked set of used rims off a 300zxt.. huge 17" rims... I'm going to use them on my own 88 300zxt for now, but thought if I could fit them on my 280??? hmm could be a solution for my larger rim quest. Any thoughts? or am I just dreaming crazy stuff again.. Thanks
  7. UPS lost my rear wing I had on the car. The MSA "California wing" I sold it, sent it to Kansas I think, it got damaged then lost, then they wanted me to pay for the return shipping, but it never made it back! Buyer is out $60 for shipping, I'm out the wing.. The buyer and myself worked it out as best as we could... Never did see that wing again..

  9. Here is the pic of my front bellypan. I guess I should update some of these pics to take into account of the new paint job. hehehe but you get the idea.
  10. Better grip through downforce is not the intention. The car already handles wicked enough for a street machine. As far as and undertray goes, I already have a front one that goes underneath the entire front end of the car.. all the way back to the oil pan. It works good, and does not affect handling in a negative way. (I can't confirm that it improved it though.. way too many changes at once) This is more of an exhaust fix for fumes entering the car. I've done everything possible (I think) and still have fumes come in with the windows down. It just happens to look "racey" hehe It was not hard to build, so I will probably do it just for something to do. I still run a stock fuel tank, so until I go fuel cell, I probably won't bother with a rear tray. The tank hangs so low, it would be difficult to put in a proper diffuser. Anyone else have any luck solving the exhaust in the cockpit? Like I said above.. with the windows up it is no problem. I'll keep you guy posted.
  11. hmm not really sure how the heck i did it? o well.. test 2 someone called me an idiot recently...I was starting to resemble that remark while doing these tests..hehehe
  12. now how do i get the pic larger?... here we go..

  16. Its a good idea. I ran for years with no return line with Zero problems. The return line will help fight against fuel boiling when in traffic etc..(ie keeping a constantly "cooler" supply of gasoline pumping into the carbs.) Do you have a fuel pressure regulator? if so, it should be set at 3.5psi. The reason the pump doesn't flood the carbs is the fuel pressure is not enough to overcome the pressure of the floats against the fuel inlet needle valve. crank the pressure up, and it will flood your carbs fast.
  17. This is a pic of my lsd installed into my 78 280Z. I managed to keep the finned cover, by modifying the rear brace to go around the fins. I couldn't resist a personal touch on it though.
  18. I mentioned in one of these forums about fumes getting in the car.. naturally right? its a z. hehe well I replaced all my door/hatch seals.. and the car doesn't leak fumes with the windows up.. windows down is another story.. I've heard many times how turbulent the air flow is behind the car.. well i've been thinking of how to smooth it out.. I have no idea if this will work or not, I'm copying race cars ie LeMans cars with their belly fins at the back of the car under it.. it directs and smooths air flow from under the back of the car I assume, and I also assume it helps with high speed stability. I'm hoping that it might smooth the air flow out at the back of the car thus allow the exhaust to get away from the car.. It is the aerodynamics of the car that is causing this.. it has to be. ?????? Anyways here is a pic of a cardboard mock up I did today.. I plan on using it as a template for some 1/8" plate aluminum. Nothing better to do today I guess. at worst case, it doesn't work.. looks cool though.. it will be removable though..
  19. I've been fighting the same issue.. I replaced my rear seals.. to no avail.. Only comes in with window down... I'm planing on building some diffusers like on the backs of the lemans cars.. vertical panels underneath the car at the back to give the car side to side stability at highspeeds (I assume) It directs the flow of the air that is traveling under the car.. it smooths out the airflow till it is further past he back of the car. (again i assume that is what the effect is) There is a lot of turbulance at the back of our cars that swirls the exhaust around the back of the car.. then if a low pressure zone appears (ie opening of window) then it simply works its way over and into the car. Don't know it if will work.. might help in the handling department.. not sure either.. worst case senario is it doesn't work, but looks racey! or is that ricey? hehehe not sure.. doubt it will look ricey on my z.
  20. could be wrong fork? several different styles of clutch forks for no rhyme or reason as far as I know.. slave cyl incorrect? aren't 240-280 styles different.. ?? not sure so correct me if I'm wrong.. just try ing to toss out some ideas for ya.
  21. I have friends in the Toronto supra club, so I hang with them, and follow their cars as well.. well to be accurate..they follow mine..hehehehe But that is another story... Anywho.. most of these guys are running mkIII and MkII's.. met a mkII owner with a jspec mkIII turbo engine in an 85 supra..12 psi very low 13's. Also have a good friend with a 82mkII with a 6M jspec NA motor.. man can he hook that car up. stock engine with headers.. runs low 14's!! He too is dropping in a jspec 7MGE turbo motor. Total sleepers these cars can be.. Test drove an 82 with an HKS turbo on it.. kept pace with a new vette to almost 90mph... real sleeper that car was.. for sale for 3K to boot!! Just posting cause I like supras too and like hearing guys playing with them. Though I enjoy kicking supra a$$ from time to time. Most of the Toronto boys won't play with me.. They got some wicked power in the mkIII's but need it just to hang with my lighter 280z. I'll have them converted to z owners before I will convert to a supra though.. hehehe Have fun!
  22. Cool to hear you are still enjoying the Z. Playing with bikes must take some of the excitement out of a car. Always enjoy the vids. This gets my motivation going to finish my Z videos. Take it easy.
