  1. HAHA Josh. Love the fact that a guy 2 feet away is pointing an rpg at the guy. Wonder if he has the balls to shoot it hahahaha
  2. I know what your talking about and that is actually installed on the brake in that picture. I just have been convinced that I do not need that. I will go on installin it w/o but keep it incase. I just hate being worried about something not workin and especially when it involves brakes.
  3. I'm sorry codder pin was the wrong word to use. I don't know what I was thinking when typing that but here is a picture. The pin in front of the brake that looks like an M appears to have nowere to go. If anyone has installed these brakes I would love to know if you used it or were it goes.
  4. Anyone? I have come to the conclusion that it is sent in the package but does not have to be used?
  5. I am undergoing the front brake swap from MSA with the toyota brakes and have come to a hault. The kit gave me two codder pins. One that goes from each pin running through the brake lining up the pads. Then I am stuck with a codder pin in the shape of an M. I have been looking at the brake for quite some time and I am stumped "Even searched through forum for pictures of the brake for about 2 hours and can only see were the codderpin on the outside goes." Anyone else come across this? I am sure it is something I am just not noticing but if you know what I am going through some help would be awesome. -Thanks
  6. Thanks 72240z, I love your car and have actually watched that vid a couple times haha. I live in Everett, WA so not really near by but me and you seem to be in the same boat so it's fun to see how you do things and how I can incorporate them into my car. The fact that you raced your car with rails similiar to mine and more hp than I will have is awesome to know as that was always in the back of mind after I reinforced, and coated her with por-15. I have used 3 quarts of that stuff now hahaha hopefully it works and keeps rust away like everyone says it does. Here's a picture of before and to where I am now
  7. Purchased my JTR KIT for the v8 swap. Along with that, the r200 swap is complete and all new fluid installed. I love the feeling of getting major steps in the build out of the way and that was definately a pita. Now that my differential is hopefully done I will be looking at some 350 engines and t-5's in the next couple weeks as I finish touching up the engine bay.
  8. I was in the same boat you were except my frame was in a little better shape. Took me awhile to get to the point I am at now but its pretty amazing to see how far it has come. Buy yourself "Or rent like me" a mig and get familiar with cutting sheetmetal. BTW I'm 16 so if I can do it you can to. Bookmarked your thread and if ya want check out my build.
  9. Thanks Deja. I have never been into ACE and the people there were awesome. I found what I needed in high grade just like you said. Plus I got free popcorn when leaving!
  10. Undergoing an r200 swap I have been to about 3 different places around here including 2 auto stores and no one carries the two 14 mm differential nuts that go to the bolts that goes through the mustache bar. They need to be a high grade thus no one sells them around here. It has become a pain and I gave in to just buying them online but I can't find anyone that sells them through any of the z stores. They are the nuts for the r200 which requires slightly larger nuts than the r180. If anyone has a source or knows where I can buy the correct nuts for this please let me know. Thanks
  11. Seems to me like the s30 style z's are picking up quite a buzz lately. I have seen some prices on z-cars that are much higher than just last year, "Whether the economy played a role I dont know" plus the only way prices can go now is up which is good and bad at the same time.
  12. new search function is hard to use

  13. Bump. I am stuck til I figure this out so please someone let me know if the 240z half shaft will work for the other side.
  14. Oh wow I got home and I am really stupid omg.hahaha. Your pictures explained everything and it was on the end. I was trying my other halfshaft from a r180 cause they look similiar and would not slide in, but the r200 one was in my box of parts. Now I just need another half shaft which will be easy to find. Thanks a lot NewZed.
  15. Thanks cockerstar. Atleast I have an expensive backup option of converting to cv at modernmotorsports now that I have found some stuff using stub axels in my search. But anyways heres a picture of the halfshaft. Pics are from my phone so yes they stink but it gets the point across.
  16. Well that halfshaft for the r200 I have has like a spindle thing with 29 splines on it if thats a better way to put it. I always thought that whats people refer to for clarification but I really am not quite sure now. It has the 4 bolt end to it with a spindle that goes into the diff. Atleast this link is where i got that info from. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=159365
  17. I am looking for an 3.54 r200 companion flange for 72 240z. As you can see in the pic I have it on the right but not the left. Also if anyone would happen to have a 29 spline 280z halfshaft that would be awesome cause I only have one. I nearing this point in a couple weeks to put it in and just cannot find anywhere or anyone that would have it.
  18. Anyways I ended up finding the stub axle cause I grabbed the wrong half shaft out of my box. It was on the one he gave me. Just a quick question. I only have one 280z half shaft but since it is a 4 bolt diff swap will the other 240z halfshaft work for the other side. I heard they are the same lengths and should be fine. Is this true cause I have been told I need another 280z halfshaft to but as long as I have the 29 spline stub axle in the diff I can just bolt the 240z halfshaft I have up to it right? Kind of confusing but I guess what I need to know is are the 240z and 280z halfshafts the same.
  19. I picked up this r200 with a mustache bar from a guy and figured the adapter was on the half shaft he gave me for a great deal but it wasn't. So now I am stuck with a 3.54 r200 that I want to use but only have 1 halfshaft (29 splines) and 1 adapter. Is there anyplace where I can pick up these parts or what is there I can do. I feel stuck cause I search and went to a lot of stores and still can not find anything. I even looked into the cv conversion but could not find anything about it coming with those adapters. From the pic you can see the missing adaptor on the differential as there is only one. I am young so I am on a budget and trying to learn so if you guys were in my situation what would you do. I can keep checking craigslist but i doughbt someone will give me the adaptor to. I do have the stock components from the r180 so would that adaptor work if I removed it?
  20. I always hear of hail the size of golf balls but Dayuuuuummm. Happy we do not get that here in WA. That Saturn got lit up though lol.
  21. Motor/ Transmission is out and sold. Time to get a nice coat of por-15 on the engine bay. I am using this stuff quite a lot but I just love the finish and protection it offers. Especially on the frame rails and battery tray. Will have pictures up for everyone when thats all done. Finally feel like I am making some progress.
  22. -19752802+2 That got me interested into painting my car myself and thus this debate. It has put out some quality jobs and some pretty shatty jobs but from I heard its all about the consistency of the paint and the thinner. But 7 coats and getting that same consistency on each coat does not seem like the easiest task. Not to mention each coat takes a day to dry for best results. I think it would also be a great experience to learn how to spray cars and would definitely have its benefits. With practice on a couple panels and the time I have on my hands I feel I could get a decent paint job "Better than Maaco" either way. The main issue is I have seen about 4 of my friends cars come out of maaco with serious overspray, orange peel, and so called repaired dents that were never even touched. If someone and their business is willing to do business like that, then they do not deserve my business. Let it be note that is my local shops not neccessarily all of them.
  23. Thanks for all the information. No the z-car is not my daily driver and my time frame is until around August so no hurry. I have a couple mentors helping me out including my dad and 2 of his friends. One is really good at body work (One taught me how to weld) and taught me some pretty useful tips and I'm almost done. Still have to block and make sure the new bumpers do not need any modification. Thanks to the info here I am probably going to the spray route since I already have the compressor and could get together a booth pretty easily. I will not be painting for awhile as I am going to finish the conversion and have it all done so I do not damage the paint during that process. Will definitely be posting pics for all you guys.
  24. I have been researching a lot and what it comes down to is should I do the roller method or spray. The reason I am kind of cheaping out on the paint is the fact that I am only 16 and lets face it, I do not need a $2000 paint job and the truck I drive already gets dings and scratched up at school thanks to doors and people walking between cars. A new one almost every other week I notice. I do own a small air compressor but in WA I would have to build some sort of a booth (Rain and debris), buy a cheap gun, and have to worry about overspray. Where as the roller method would definately take more time but I could do it in my garage with a couple fans going, avoid debris in the paint, avoid overspray, touch it up pretty easily if something happens, and would be a little cheaper. Or I could bring it to maaco and spend like $600-800, then add the cost of a trailor to get it there and still worry about overspray and stuff like that. I just feel that I could do better if I take my time and feel better about spending my money if I do it. Let me know your opinions, personal experiences, or what you would do in my situation.
  25. Title was a little misleading:willy_nilhaha just kidding I say you hold on to her cause seriously you will not get what the car is worth to you whether it is money or not, especially right now. Plus I am sure that drive will be back after you stop driving a car that is actually fun to drive lol. Plus what better investment than to hold on to your z-car for a couple years cause I see the prices heading up here, especially on parts. Even waiting til this economy gets better is going to get you more money than investing in something else.
