Car Won't Go Into Gear When Running
240zBoy replied to 240zBoy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Maybe we are using different clutch forks. I am sure a straighter fork would have made it easier -
Did the 240z headlight relay mod because I figured it would fix it all. Definately made my high beams brighter but still no low beams. I am thinking there is corrosion in the connector up there so I am going to break out the ammeter and figure that out. Then it get to see why my marker lights flash with the turn signals. This car is a wiring mess!!!!!!!!!!!11

Car Won't Go Into Gear When Running
240zBoy replied to 240zBoy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Well my buddy actually ended up figuring out my problem. The slave cylinder needed a longer shaft so he put a longer one on. That grabbed a couple of more gears so he cut off the bumpstop inside and grabbed all the gears. Then bled the slave again and now the clutch works perfect. To bad we must have broke the pin on the t-5's for fifth gear so thats not there right now. -
Weird stuff haha. When should the side markers work. Mine cannot be wired right because with both blinking it would make people on my right side think I am turning right and vise versa for left side haha.
-
Took apart the headlight switched and sanded the carbon off the paddles. That actually worked haha. Now my marker lights blink no matter which way my turn signals go.. just great
-
I finally got my turn signals to work when I find another problem. I only have high beams and when they are on my turn signals lose almost all their power. Sometimes they will blink once and thats about it. When the switch is on low beam they work but they flash much slower than with the switch out of either beams. Please help me

3 weeks and Still No Turn Signals
240zBoy replied to 240zBoy's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Yup it was that green wire going into the white wire outside of the 6 pin. It went into a flasher unit but no power was going to the flasher unit so I just tapped into a different 12v source.Original source went into the hazard switch but I was not going to rip out the dash again. I can finally move on with my project. Going into superspeed right now. Got to get this thing done by the middle of June. -

I went to NAPA and asked for an late 80's iroc-z starter. They gave me a remanufactured one for a core charge and it was not more than a $100. Works great and no shims were needed. Not to mention I get more clearance with that starter. -
- Bought an Edelbrock carb, MUCH BETTER than the quadjrajet. - Got my clutch working and car driving but no 5th right now cause pin is broken. - Ordered in my fiberglass front airdam and some interior pieces. - Got all my lights working, only electrical not working is fan and stereo because no stereo is in there - Picked up some leather corbeau TRS and rails for cheap on craigslist WOOHOO!!! HAHA Getting closer!!!!!!!

3 weeks and Still No Turn Signals

Yes the green wire in the 6 pin connector is the hot one I was talking about. I just tried hooking my green and white wires up to that flasher or whatever it is and nothing happened. Anybody no what I am messing up on or what that solenoid does. I have green and white wires hooked up to a different flasher that was down here right now. Edit: Fixed It. That green spade going into white needed power -
3 weeks and Still No Turn Signals

Squeezed my head up under that dash and might have found something but could not feel any wires to go to this. It appears to be another flasher unit. I think when I kind of took my dash out to get the speedo cable on I might have tucked them back in there. That would explain why the turn signals do not blink when I apply power Anyone think this is my problem? And yes the hazards do work -
Start it off, this is for a 1972 240z. So I have gone through the FSM on Xexons about 4 times now and it helped a ton on my wiring. I literally have everything besides my heater/fan working now thanks to that FSM.But these turn signals just don't like me. I have tried to see if someone could send me a picture of their column wiring but that failed. So, I am going to explain what I have come up with which could show the source of the problem. First of all, the signals do work, as when I send power directly through the wire they turn on. - The black ground that connects the headlight switch and turn signal switch is grounded good as headlights shut off when disconnected. - I am getting power through the turn signal loom with what I remember to be a solid green wire. - Just replaced all my fuses with brand new fuses - I have another turn signal switch and it does not work either, the original one worked before so that should not be a problem. Possible Problem area: - There could be another source of power not going or sending power to the turn signal switch - There is a green spade connecter coming from the turn signal switch, in the picture, going into a white spade connecter. This wire has no power going through it with key on or off or signals on or off. If someone sees an issue within here any input would be greatly appreciated. Or if someone could send me a picture of their column that would also be greatly appreciated. Main reason I am stressing is I am doing the interior of my build for my Senior Project so yea... I am sure most of you understand haha

So my car came with a different door possibly 280z door modified on to my 240z. Never fit right, lock mechanism does not work ( Actually the PO never even gave me a working key for that different door), and it is pretty rusty. So, my driver door works pretty well and is alligned good but the lock mechanism is not that great but it works. So what I need is at the least a 240z passenger door with a working lock mechanism, key, and window if possible. If someone has a matching pair I would definately consider as long as the price is not out of my budget. I am a 17yr old kid trying to get my 240z on the road as my first car so getting the best bargain is on the top of my list. My window works on both sides but we all know it is a PITA to get in and out. I have interior panels so dont worry about that either. If you have something send me a PM as I will only go back to this to close it when I find a door or pair that will work for me.

Yea the Cipher Seats seem to look like there built like most seats out there and pricing is good with me so I might jump on them. Does anyone think they will fit though?
-
I was ordering a pair of nrg seats and harnesses the other day for my z and saw that shipping was $200 right before I purchased so I backed out to keep looking. So now I became attached to the idea of putting these Cipher Auto seats in my car. They have had great reviews, pricing, and customer service. With the link above there are dimensions added that I think will work but I am not quite sure. The other seat that I am considering if this one will not fit is the DAD seats. These are in my price range and I do not need anything super fancy like corbeau, sparco, bride, cobra and whatever. Edit: I found this on a guy who put them in his e30. If they fit in there I feel there is a good shot. Not to mention you can really see the seats in the pics and they keep growin on me haha. http://www.superhonda.com/forum/f207/product-review-cipher-auto-racing-seats-356298/

Alright got the brake switch working. But I have an issue with my turn signal part of the harness at the steering column not working. I believe it has to do with the green spade connector because that is hooked up to nothing right now. It would be a life saver if someone could just send me a picture of what there steering column wiring looks like. I have been searching everywhere from google pics to here and can not find a good picture of someone's steering column. BTW it is a 72 240z.

Thanks alot turbo. Now I get to go treasure hunting in the garage and a lot of luck to find it. Atleast it is not the end of the world or at the top of my list right now since it seems to just be a buzzer.

Wiring help? I'm ready to fire this beast up
240zBoy replied to ottoauto's topic in Ford V8Z Tech Board
The starter seems to be right. To me it sounds like a run-on problem. I had that and if you search msd run-on you will find many articles on it and how to install a diode or even relay if you want. Still couldn't figure it out personally so I put in a kill switch to the switched 12v supply to the ignition box. -
There are 2 spade connectors with no where to go right there and for some reason I remember a solenoid, relay or something similiar there. The car is a manual. For some reason I have a suspsision it might be a door buzzer but if someone can confirm that it would be great.
-
Anybody? Something has a place above the hood pull lever and I would like to get on it as soon as possible
-
So I stripped my interior ahwile back and now have wiring with nowhere to go. Right above the hood latch from the inside of the car was some sort of solenoid with I believe 2 black wires going to it. I can't find it in the manuals and if someone could let me know what it is so I can google a picture of it that would be great.
-
Yea but I can not find the wires that connect to it. There seems to be none even near it.
-
If someone could take a picture just like this link shows it would help me out more than anything. I did figure out where pic #2 went though. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_GKlDb1xNbNg/TMZhZBotSKI/AAAAAAAAAsw/qzCOAEU-KlY/s512/P1010003.JPG

Alright I have had a little help with the fsm but there are still quite a few loose ends. The loose wires with pink arrows to them are my problem and if anyone could help that would be great.

Car Won't Go Into Gear When Running
240zBoy replied to 240zBoy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Well the motor has 0 miles on it since we put it in so there must be an issue with the pressure plate or maybe throw out bearing. Since it doesn't release and launched when started in first with the pedal fully depressed. Actually almost jumped through the garage lol. We will see what is up in about 2 weeks when we get her up in the air and take a look. Sucks but I guess the tilton wasnt a total waste of money cause the clutch does feel better
