  1. I found a decent price on some corbaeu Forza seats and rails and I'm petty sure I'm gonna go with them. In that case it wouldn't matter what I did with the front mounts would it?
  2. So on my 260Z the floor pans are shot. No nice way to put it. And the Dingus that Owned it prior to me I guess was just trying to make it driveable and he just riveted in a little piece of sheet metal in the drivers floor board. Well anyway it has led to a huGe mess in the floor pans and the bottom of the sEat rails look like they have a little structural rust on them. My plan is to get a recaro or some kind of after market seat with the avaliability of a harness to be installed. So my question is would it be worth trying to salvage the front seat rail or just cut the thing out with no discretion? Not to mention does anyone have a few pictures of where they installed the new floor pans and support rails from http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/30-7317. I really want to know how far back im gonna have to cut and also how far up the trans tunnel I need to tear the fabric. Thanks guys!
  3. Yeah im hopefully going to be tackling a s13 rear subframe swap as well.
  4. Haha how many blown ear drums have you gone through with that? Love the way a JZ sits in there and i bet this thing sounds like an actual rocket ship coming down the road! Nice swap man. Just out of curiosity what do you have done to the rear end to handle JZ power? Hopefully im gonna be jumping into my own JZ swap here soon with a VVT-I 2JZGTE from an Aristo. Also R154 or W series trans?
  5. Does that down pipe go right out the side?
  6. I was 16 when I got my Z. It all started one day when I decided to take this dirt road that I had always wondered about. Well to my surprise as I turned this civet u see this red something sitting there. I probably squealed a little but who can judge? Anywho, I called my dad who, mind you, is and always has been a die hard GM fan. And to my surprise he was actually super on board with it. So after about a week we went and talked to the guy about it and he shot out $800 and I was all teenager and said something along the lines of hhhheeeeellll yeahhhhh. The guy we got it from was super nice and told us straight up that it had a little rust which is expected from being in the south but I was optimistic. He also told us that about 3 years prior when he parked it that it wouldn't crank due to a burn valve or something. But a new battery and some fresh fuel got it running like a top on 5/6 cylinders but I was excited none the less. So after we had it running for a little while me and my friend thought that you could take the rear fuel pump out to the equation and still be fine (we were wrong) it messed up the front fuel pump si now it only pulses and doesn't get a steady flow of fuel into the engine. This was kinda a pain but we saw it as a good opportunity to start the tear down. I took the two carbs off and was really not discrete about the hoses I cut so now it would take an act of Congress to get it to work I think. After that we stripped the interior and started doing a little investigating which is when we found the floor pans were shot and needed to be replaced. Not too big of a deal, I'd rather spend a little and have it done right than fall through the floor. Besides all of the little stuff of cleaning it up a little and somehow being able to avoid having to take the spindle pins out not much more has happened. I plan to eventually do an VVT-I aristo 2jzgte swap it but that will have to be either during summer or my senior year of high school. Regardless this car WILL live. If you've read this far Pat yourself on the back! Here are some pictures from my Facebook account. They may not work but I don't want to upload like 30 something pictures with my ball sack Internet. Thanks guys!! https://m.facebook.com/grayson.sullens/albums/10202222675501903/
  7. Yeah sorry shit box wasn't the appropriate word I just meant in the sense of trying To resell the trans that would come with it not many people are in the market for an rb26 awd trans. I'm more than sure that it is a strong transmission.
  8. Haha well that's about all the motivation I have for you. Although I will say there is no better feeling in the world than enclosing myself in my 260z and just sitting in it. Even if it is as far away from done than it can be just know that not every Joe shmoe has an s30. We're truly few and far between. Oh and find a honey that wants to be your side kick in your wangan midnight reinactions. Just don't reinact the first scene
  9. So this came with my Z and so far it has come in handy for literally everything and I figured I'd pass some of the knowledge your way. Just let me know if you want anything looked up
  10. Gonna keep it simple. Is my 260z early or late model and how do you tell?
  11. Also in regard to the w58 I fell like for stock twins like 350hp Max it should withstand. I don't plan on drag racing it. Mainly for dding abs the occasional hooning if I see a fine honey you know
  12. I find that watching and reading stuff others have uploaded about the same gives be that little boost to stay interested. Go sit in your car for a few minutes. Imagine yourself driving it and all the honeys you'll be impressing with it. They don't know that it isn't a Ferrari! Don't tell em different!
  13. those are always the beginnings to great things!
  14. Also where have you guys bought engines/transmissions from in the past? Every website that advertises r154s you send yours in and they just rebuild it.
  15. The day I got it and started digging through everything! Now, being about a month later all the moldy carpet and seats are out!
  16. Another good point is that with an r154 and all it would take to pair it to the engine and convert the car from auto to manual it would probably be close to what it would take to convert the rb to a single
  17. Thanks man I appreciate the the reply and the website that has them has a guarantee that their engines don't have over 60k on them so I think it's good there.
  18. Bump because anyone willing to buy the sacred V160 is a friend of mine!
  19. I've narrowed my search for an engine to swap into my '74 Datsun to either a Nissan 2.6l Rb26 or a Toyota 3l 2jzgte. Following will be my reasons for each engine and why I want to swap it. (ALL PRICES ARE AS LISTED ON www.jdmenginedepot.com) RB26DET: 1). keep the tradition going of an inline 6, 2.6l as the stock l26 2). More suppport and kits avaliable on the market 3). Very distinct sound of an RB ...(The link to the RB http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/jdm_engine_details/106/Nissan_RB26DETT_Skyline_R32_GT-R_Engine,_Manual_AWD_Trans,_Harness,_&_ECU_JDM_RB26DETT) 2JZGTE: 1). Significantly cheaper than the Rb26 (http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/jdm_engine_details/208/Toyota_2JZ-GTE_VVTI_Aristo_/_Supra_/_Lexus_GS300_/_Lexus_SC300_Engine,_Automatic_Trans_&_Harness_JDM_2JZGTE) 2). Clearance of the turbochargers and the steering column would'nt be a problem 3). C'mon it's a Toyota! 4). I have access to a lot of information on the JZ platform from my friends THE NEGATIVES OF EACH: RB26 1; would have to source an rb25 tranny so 2; Japan only ever made a few cars with the RB26 and not many if not none of them reached the states so parts would be a PITA and wallet 3; Turbos apparently have a lot of issue clearing the steering column on a US spec 260z (LHD) 2JZ: 1; More fabrication work (not really an issue) 2; Less support in the since of swap kits without them costing $2k+ 3; For some reason I feel like wiring would be a pain (I may be wrong) 4; It would come from the shipper with automatic tranny and that just won't do. So I would then have to find either a W series or save up and find an R154. But shouldnt cost any more than the RB26. And someone might acually want a turbo auto trans from a 2j compared to the S**t box that is the AWD RB tranny. For fuel I suppose I'm just gonna go the beaten path of probably a 12-15 gallon fuel cell and a Walbro 255 As you can see I have a lot more positives on the Toyota side compared to the RB but I want input from people WHO HAVE ACTUALLY DONE EITHER SWAP (or have assissted in it, or that know more than it is a hard swap) Thank you guys! - Grayson
  20. Sorry to bring back an old topic but do the z31 motor mounts have to be from a Japan spec 300zx? And also what type motor did you use? I know an rb26 but was it from a r32? It should be the same with the r34 26 right?
  21. So im assuming if my car would start without the seatbelts fastened the button has already been taken out of the equation?
  22. So I came across a hell of a deal on an s13 rear sub frame and ended up picking it up for $10 ! I've seen a few threads on this topic so don't think I haven't done my research it's just that they were all older threads and I didn't feel like resurrecting it from its hibernation. Now a few of my buddies told me that it should bolt in with little to no modification/fabricating. I know also then you could run more recent brakes (Z32 all day baby) and also have an easier platform to a 5 lug swap and better differentials. Some insight on if this will work and if it will the steps it would take. Thanks guys! - Grayson
  23. Any clue what this button is for?? Only info I've found is something to disable the passenger seat belt sensor that doesn't make sense. It's right in front of the battery on the passenger side. Help! I need to know
