Sorry. I meant $80. Gas was near $5.00 a gallon then.
-
$1.84 yesterday. Hopefully it went down again today so I can fill my car up since I'm almost on empty. Maybe I'll even get PREMIUM!!! I've had my car since the end of May and its never had more than half a tank. When I got it, it would have cost me almost $90 to fill it from empty.

Room light fuse keeps blowing.
Ferrariferg replied to Ferrariferg's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Alright. I fixed the problem with the fuse and the antenna. But my lights still arn't working. I managed to get my hands behind the gauges with some multimeter probes and found that I am getting power to the lights when the switch is on but only about 2 volts instead of 12. Anyone know what could cause this? I'm going to clean my fuse panel tomorrow and make sure none of my contacts are corroded. How do you remove the dimmer knob from the metal pin? I tried pulling it but it didn't budge and i don't want to break it. Thanks for all the help. Kyle -
The same can be said for any form of racing. It takes a lot of skill and practice but its not really good for anything. I quote from one of my favorite movies, Tokyo Drift "Whats the point? It just proves your faster thats all." For me its not about winning anything or being good for anything. Its all about the fun of it. I like drag racing as well. One lets me go as fast as I can and the other puts my control skills to the ultimate test. Both of which are an adrenaline rush and just plain fun. I think drifting will have its moments in the spotlight as well as fading into the shadows. But its here to stay.
-
Its still growing here. Nearly every week I see someone new that just got a 240sx or other car that they want to drift. When I went to Formula D this summer the seats were packed. Even after the rain started pouring very few people left. The ones that did were mostly guys that brought their girlfriends that couldn't care less about cars and nagged them until they left (Had a couple sitting next to me and the guy did NOT want to leave). And I think 50% of the people there got a tire. lol. I'm one of them. Completely bald toyo used and signed by Ken Gushi. I think to some its a fad. Others like myself and my friends are drifters for life. My dad is even getting into it. lol.

Just replaced mine a few days ago. The plastic comes off with a wire wheel. If you have a compressor and a die grinder with a wire wheel that works just fine. After you get the plastic off there are just a couple 12mm or 10mm nuts. I would also check ebay for a pump. The auto parts will just sell you an over priced universal pump that doesn't work right unless you splice extensions to your electrical and it wont fit in the pump bracket unless you get longer fuel lines. Hope this helps.

Beautiful! Your car has helped me to make up my mind on what to paint my car I think. Just something about a gloss black that I just love.

Awesome. I was looking for this thread last night. Trying to figure out how to do as little cutting as possible.

No pictures yet but a little update on what I have done. Decided I wanted to be able to hear my engine purr (roar) so I replaced my cat with a strait pipe and my muffler with a cherry bomb. Sounds great. Figured while I was at it I might as well remove some other emissions and unnecessary equipment. So I removed my EGR valve. Made my own block-off plate. And I took out the charcoal canister. Just had to reroute a couple lines and adjust the idle a bit. Trying to put some money aside for an L28 Turbo, 5 speed trans, R200, and all the little things to make it all work. Plus a whole lot extra for the an intercooler system and to rebuild said motor and to make it a 3.1 liter. Just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling doesnt it? lol. Next up is going to be an electric radiator fan. Anyone know what year taurus fits?

Young new Z owner! Where to start?
Ferrariferg replied to nosetackle63's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
You must be the kid from craigs list that I emailed about the motor and trans a couple weeks ago. If not then your not the only 16 year old with a turbo 83 that wants to do a v8 swap in Olympia. lol. Anyways. Keep us posted on your project. Kyle -
L28 injector spacing & port dimensions
Ferrariferg replied to Ferrariferg's topic in Fabrication / Welding
Thanks. I was only hoping for some numbers not a diagram. lol. -
I'm looking to make my own fuel rail but I need to know the injector spacing. I can't take mine off my car right now because its my dd and I cant chance having something breaking. I know that Pallnet makes some but I already have the rail stock (Found it in the garage in a pile of scraps) and my dad is a machinist and can do all the drilling and cutting for me. I'm looking to make it a barb style so no need for any special tools. Any measurements or tips are helpful. And yes I did search. Kyle

Very nice. And good call on the tail lights. Either 67 or 68. My dad has 2 68's.

This explains it all. They are all higher than a blimp from suckin down all the paint fumes. -
Beautiful car. Just how I want mine to look.

when is it FAST ENOUGH!
Ferrariferg replied to grumpyvette's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Well said. I have thought about having ridiculous amounts of power but I decided that for me to truly enjoy my car I don't need 500-600hp or to do a major motor swap. I've settled for a goal of 250hp. If I can get get 300 without any major modifications then thats awesome. If not thats alright. -
MMMMMMMMM. Turbo. Looks great.

Very interesting. Kind of a cross between piston and rotary. Would love to see it work. Unfortunately I think it would have the same lifespan as a rotary seeing as it uses some form of an apex seal. I was also wondering about the exhaust. How is that disposed of?
-
Best of luck. Give em hell. A buddy of mine got a ticket for loud exhaust a couple years ago while I was with him and he told the cop that he would jack the car up and let him crawl underneath and prove that it was all stock (Which it was) but the cop didn't care to much for the attitude and decided to give him another ticket for going 3 over the limit. Everything ended up getting delt with when he took it to court. Cop got into a bunch of trouble over the whole thing. Hopefully I wont get in trouble for the same thing since I'm running nothing but strait pipes and a cherry bomb. Just loud enough for me.

I'm barely even started on my 280zx. I got the car for an awesome deal that I couldn't pass up. But the little things just to get it working right is where the money goes. I think I have spent about $500 (Probably much more than that) just on getting everything working (Which I'm still working on) and a couple small upgrades. Still have big plans for the car though. I plan to spend about 10-15K in total by the time I'm done. It definitely helps to have people that can help you with things. My dad is a machinist so he can make me some bits and pieces which saves money. Make sure you buy a repair manual. They are VERY useful. Can't count the number of times its saved me time and money.

Custom Fiberglass parts, the flatter the better

I'm in the process of fighting with myself about weather or not I want to make my own fg spoiler/wing. Never worked with fg before but I figure you only live once and you don't learn if you never try, fail, and try again. Best of luck. -
Can NOT stand USPS. I have nothing but bad experiences with them. The tracking system is almost never updated and they take longer than UPS. Used DHL once and never went back. I try to stick with UPS. Not saying that I havnt had issues with them to but they are much more reliable. Just my experience.

Room light fuse keeps blowing.
Ferrariferg replied to Ferrariferg's topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Alright. So I am pretty sure I figured out the issue with the fuse. I've been driving for a couple days with the antenna disconnected and haven't had any trouble at all. The stereo is wired for power like this: Battery= blue with red stripe ACC= yellow with green stripe Ground= chassis I realized that my stereo doesn't have a connection for power antenna so I had the antenna running off of the ACC wire. Probably not the best idea but I installed the stereo at 4am so I wasn't really using my head. Still doesn't explain why my gauge lights arnt working.
