  1. If you have a fear of the number 6, or don't want to have a car that was only made for a short time... I would say that could make you not want it. Yes, like they said, there is no real reason to not get one, unless you want a late 280 for all of the heavy upgrades, or if you want an original, early 240, then the 260 is not for you. There should be nothing else that would deter you from getting it, beside what you said, the normal Z stuff.
  2. In the broad, varying spectrum of opinions you might get, I would say, all things considered, maybe. Or, it depends.
  3. A couple more pictures. I had the Y built, and then decided I didn't like how it joined, I wanted it to be a little more gentle, and a little bigger. So, I cut out that section outlined in pen, and cut a 3" pipe to fit over the area, to create a more gradual transition. Lastly, I put it in place. Now, all I need to do is weld it to the resonators, and fab the two 90's once the muffler gets here today. It fits perfectly between the differential and the suspension, and is tucked up nicely. From the side, you can only see the two resonators in the front.
  4. Thanks! I'm welding up the rest (besides the muffler) right now, should have some pictures soon.
  5. Yet another update... after two days of working hard, and with the help of a knowledgeable friend, we built the exhaust almost to completion. It is fully custom, with just a few pre-bent angles, 2.5" to 3". I waited to order the muffler because I wasn't sure what I would be working with, but I picked it out, and it should be here soon. In case you are keeping track, I will not be using the SuperTrapp, partially because it was going to be a difficult fit, and partially because it's 2.5". I put two vibrant resonators right after the flex joint, then joined the pipes after the transmission. The Y is a creation that we came up with, it's a 2.5" pipe that is flared out to 3", where the two meet, and then 3" from there on. All welding was done with my crappy generic MIG welder. More pictures later today of the rest.
  6. Happy birthday, HBZ. Thanks for helping make my build possible
  7. That sucks. You know, they opened the parking lot up at the game so people could tailgate outside and watch the game on a big screen from... outside the superbowl... only... $200 a ticket!!! To top it off, they were looking for locals to volunteer to help run the big event. Really? Volunteers? I'll volunteer, for $20,000.
  8. You and many others can avoid breaking copyright laws by buying the manual. No one is going to post that for you.
  9. Seriously, that website I gave you with the microfiche also has the Factory Service Manuals, which will help you a ton with stuff like this. Haynes and Chilton are also great tools to cross reference for figuring out the best way to attack problems like this.
  10. It's cool man. Try using google site search also, and you might want to try some of the other Z forums as well, since this one is predominately about modifications and performance enhancements. It will be hard to find information like that on here. The microfiche might actually help you find what you need, and also try this: Better than microfiche It's got the same info, and can help you find an exact part number, quickly. Sometimes the microfiche will tell you what bolt pattern you need, if you are lucky and it's not proprietary.
  11. When you do get something custom built, be sure to post pictures, especially of the process. Always good to see new, interesting ideas.
  12. I second this To get a good handle on what this forum has to offer should only take... say... 3500 hours
  13. Cut out that whole section of the stock tank, cut a whole of equal size and shape in your tank of choice (obviously, a steel one...), weld it in at the appropriate height from the bottom to give you a somewhat accurate reading on your fuel gauge... and VIOLA! BTW... most gauges are in great condition, they experience very little wear and tear, so even if you chopped up the guts to experiment, they are a dime a dozen.
  14. Well, it's been a while since I last posted. Been pretty busy with the Z and otherwise, just haven't had time to get pictures up. Most of the things I've been doing lately on the car are minor, non-visible necessities. However, I have gotten the fuel tank mounted, almost all of the fuel lines built and routed, and I also sprung for the Toyota 4x4 non-vented front calipers and 240sx Modern Motorsports rear disc brake conversion. Extremely easy conversion to do. I've also begun refinishing the dash, repairing it with foam sealant and SEM bumper repair as prescribed in the dash repair threads that are abundant in the Z community. So far so good, but one thing I didn't think about... the bumper repair sands well but takes a while... I shouldn't have globbed it on like I did! Should turn out well though when I'm done with the hours of sanding.
  15. The report button, as far as I see it, should be used more for objectionable content and unruly members... not meaningless, lame threads. Unless the mods have a different take.
  16. Hey mods, I have an idea, just throwing it out there... what if there was a button we could click for a thread to nominate it to go to the tool shed? I'm not sure if the site will let you do it... but I'm thinking of something similar to what Craigslist does. I hesitate to use the Report button, and I know you guys are too busy to really catch every useless post out there.
  17. http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html Look it up. It's a proprietary bolt with a wing on the end of it. You will not fare well on this forum with that attitude.
  18. Dude... you need to do some research before posting wildly on here. My advice is to google the effects of running a vehicle without an air cleaner. Also, please read the forum rules, located in the top right corner of the site.
  19. Yes. That's the one. Like Cable said, there's a lot of books out there with more in depth info, shouldn't rely on just one.
