i finally got around to installing these door panel covers that believe got from Classic Datsun.... i don't fully remember but i think thats right.... i decided to not deal with the staples and the felt that goes between the panel and the window and just decided to paint the top metal part and just attach the vinyl to the lower cardboard half. i think it came out pretty decently..... I'm still deciding on if i want to use the stock pull handles or look for something different. passenger side.... driver's side.... i felt like doing something a little different with the rear hatch deck and cover it with vinyl too. i also covered the storage compartment lids..... then got some nice allen head bolts to hold them in place. the other little detail is that i got come aluminum C-channel and attached it the lip behind the seats. i still need to clean up the excess adhesive that got on some of the vinyl. I more or less just need to get some carpet to go over the shock/ tire wells and for the front floor and transmission tunnel.

first off, sorry for your loss and offer my condolences to his parents and everyone who knew your friend. I know how it is too loose someone so unexpectedly at a young age. I'm 21 myself. if you need a hand, some help identifying parts, etc. i'm willing to help as best i can. i'm not sure where you are in d/fw but i'm in Plano and would be willing to meet up. Kevin

well I've gotten a few new things done. i started working on the interior some. I installed the headliner and some random vinyl pieces. it was surprisingly easy to do th vinyl pieces.... i just bought a few yards of black vinyl and started cutting and gluing. the results aren't professional but not bad for my first venture in to the world of upholstery and interior. i also got bored and decided i needed to finally shave my n42 intake to help clean up the engine bay. i had been putting this off for a while but after a few hours of grinding,a swipe of jb weld to fill the holes, and a coat of paint, i think it came out pretty good.

i did forget to mention this is a mechanical lifter p90a head not that I think it would have much bearing on this issue. its just easier saying its a p90. it has "E30" cast on the cam between the lobes for cylinders 4 and 5 and a "F" on the back end of the cam. it also has a D in between the intake and exhaust for cylinder 5. also what are the little dots i circled in yellow for... just noticed them on a couple cam towers.... there are nine little indents. According to http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm ....that means its from a p79... but i have a p79 head here too and it has a "k" stamped on its end. which isn't even listed on that site. sorry about the bad pics... I also read that the stampings mean nothing.... so i don't know i guess this post has gone technical so if the mods could move it to the l6 forum it would probably be best.... thanks. Kevin

i tried searching to find the going price for a shaved p90 but had no luck. its a p90 shaved .080 with the cam towers shimmed, with what i think is a e88 cam... not totally sure about the cam. its got a fresh 3 angle valve job and my machinist said the rest of the head was in great shape. i'm sorry if this is an inappropriate place for it... mods can delete it if they fell it necessary. I'm not sure if I'm gonna sell it or not yet. just trying to get a ballpark figure of what its worth. Thanks in advance Kevin

Crappy ms paint chop but..... i thought it needed a chopped roof/windshield too... for a slow slung look i don't know how practical it would be for anyone over 6 foot though since you'd be looking out above the windshield probably Kevin

my production date is 3/78... so they obviously made them till that long....I'm not sure what month they stopped making s30's officially though. edit.. i actually checked the blackdragon auto catalog and its shows the last month was in 6/78 Kevin

Its great when I go to the hardware store and I tell them what I am doing and they just give me a confused look and go on to help an easier customer. I don't know how safe i would feel with it in front of the radiator in a collision, but I suppose it might drop the fuel temp a little. Then again i don't have a front bumper to absorb an impact.
