  1. things just got a little more interesting..... and a little more expensive Well i ditched the whole l28et thing and decided i wanted two extra cylinders. Its a 350 bored .030 over super victor intake 750 holley carb cam -- don't remember specs off hand, but its pretty nasty. jtr position etc.... It's more or less your average swap, nothing too exciting, but it should scoot pretty good. Shifter is a B&M pro stick. I just welded a plate to the stock rubber shift boot retaining ring and bolted the shifter to it. Its connected to a 700r4 with a few upgrades. errr... carpet is just on its way. B&M transmission cooler theres alot more that has been done since these pics i need to take some more. Right now I'm hoping to start it up some time this week.... and then ill have to start thinking what I'm gonna do about the stock half shafts... it never ends does it? Kevin
  2. hey joe, figured i would chime in real quick. The parts look good but just a fyi. I wouldn't get the brake dust shield powder coated until after you get the brakes sort of mocked up. You are gonna end up trimming the dust shield when you install the Toyota 4x4 calipers as they are obviously larger than the stock calipers. I guess I forgot to tell you this cause I didn't install any shields, as mine were missing when i got the car The project looks like it is coming along pretty good... keep it up and you'll have it done in no time. Kevin
  3. ive got a p90a with solid lifters that is already shaved and shimmed .080 ... its a clean head... fresh 3 angle valve job on it... i was gonna use it but ended up going turbo and then wound up going with a v8 swap... the head was bolted to a block but not run. lemme know if your interested i dont know if you would wanna pay for the shipping though Kevin
  4. thats a good looking truck. Looks like you got exactly what you were looking for even with all the talk about diesels in this thread. It's kind of like a baby titan .... but man those frontiers have gotten a lot bigger in recent years...so maybe its like a teenage titan:-P Kevin
  5. The p90a head came in both hydraulic and solid lifter form. There is no real difference between a p90 solid lifter and p90a solid lifter. I do think the p90a solid lifter is less common but has no extra benefit. As for the manufacture date and such, I am not completely sure. But i know 1981 was the first year for the 280zx turbo, and it would not be extraordinary if a car had a build date in 1980 and the car titled as a 1981. btw... this is probably posted in the wrong section since it is somewhat technical you might have better luck in the l6 turbo section or s130 specific section. Kevin
  6. i found that too... with dimensions and all. seems interesting. fender roller DIY Kevin
  7. I don't know of anything local for yall, but there are rental services such as... http://www.rollyourfender.com/rentalinfo.html I haven't used their service, I just did a google search. They're based out of Dallas though Kevin
  8. 280zone's car is definitely not a rat rod.... its is just down right slick and menacing. In all honesty, I think the only car that can really qualify as a "rat rod" on this site isn't a Z at all... check out alfs hot/rat rod build. Kevin
  9. sooo kind of like leaving the car looking like a work in progress like the following, but maintain full functionality. I don't know why but i always wanted to get a Z and leave the front fenders off and somehow make it look nice. I never got past that phase of the idea though. also note the wicked looking "M" for mach 5... speed racer style rat rod... i guess its obvious i got bored while working on the car
  10. interesting car to be considered a rat rod since as far as i know it doesn't run .... and its estimated to be worth millions it just looks kind of run down to me.... but i get the point you were trying to get across:p Kevin
  11. challenger was probably referring to the second picture which is a fox body... the 1st and third pictures are obviously new model mustangs Kevin
  12. easy search returned this. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125033&highlight=18x9.5 It looks like he ended up with roughly a 19mm offset in the rear though. Overall backspacing is really what is more important to look at though. You would definitely need coil overs with wheels that size. Also since this thread was started with 16" and 17" wheels in mind, a lot of people checking this thread might not have a lot of insight on 18" wheels. By the way, making comments like "I dont think people on here like answering questions." probably isn't gonna get your question answered any quicker though. Oh and to contribute to the original question i have 17x8 wheels all the way around with 245/45 tires and no rubbing on spring perches, but the car hasn't seen the road as of yet with this set up. Kevin
  13. fyi that brace was talked about briefly once before...... Miata X Brace thread reading that thread it sounds like it is kind of over kill Kevin
  14. Alright i was taking apart my old z after its fatal crash. i was trying to salvage some parts while just destroying others. I think it was the fan shroud that i was trying to remove.... but i figured hey its plastic i can just use a pry bar real quick and crack the plastic since the other half of it was already cracked and off it will be. Well, I'm standing at the front of the car and pulling on the pry bar from the top and i am pulling really hard, and I get nothing ... so being the persistent jackass I am, I try again... well it cracked this time but i guess i lost my grip and the pry bar swung around 180 degrees and smacked me in the head... Well i thought the fan shroud had cracked but apparently the pry bar just slipped off and now I just feel like a flipping idiot and accomplished nothing. I continued to work on the car until blood starts dripping down on the floor and I immediately realized what was up. I bandaged my self up and began looking for my 10mm wrench. Moral of the story: Sometimes it easier to just remove the small bolt.... scratch that its always easier to remove the small bolt than use brute force. Kevin
  15. this is a color i have fallen in love with... check out the 2008 weismann gt mf5.... beautiful car... and awesome color... its not overly shiny but still stunning... kind of a modern racer version of what 280zforce posted... if my Z wasn't already painted i probably would have gone with this color. Kevin
  16. the pictures in his ad gave me a headache... every single one with that sunburst effect around the car is just annoying not a bad looking car though.... but i do think his starting bid is high.... maybe he doesn't really want to get rid of the car and is just fishing for someone to bite at it. Kevin
  17. hahhahaa I don't why but I read this post in the style of the crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, and I laughed for a solid 3 minutes.... I did throw in a few crikeys for my own amusement though... man I must be bored.... hahaha Kevin
  18. 2001 mustang bullitt wheels 17x8 245/45r17 front and back. 3/8 inch spacer in the rear. stock spring perches
