Ok, so now I need to DIG out my fork from where ever it is and check it out. compare it to a T56 fork. Decide on whether I'm using a trany mount or engine side mount for the slave. Gotcha. OOOH, also need to get up underneath the car and see what kind of clearance eh? Mock up the exhause tubes and see what's what. Thanks mike... of to work I GO

Push or Pull slave? In my mind it looks like I would need a Push type. Comments?

Hey, maybe you can get him to throw in the transmission and the 'name his baby girl auction' in with the deal......

anyone using this fan or something similar? Looks like a good price. It has a CFM rating of 2500, that enough? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8032131821&fromMakeTrack=true

Could go cheap, but it says it's a pull type slave, it is what I need? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8032830922&fromMakeTrack=true

I got my Summit pistons, the look decent, not quite as nice as the KB's but at almost a 3rd of price, they'll do right? I have been looking online for some good prices on a Harmonic Ballancer, HEI or other Distributor Coil, water pump, alt, and pully's that i'll need to button up this engine. I don't need NEW parts, I don't want cheap parts, but I don't want to spend a ton on them eh! I did grab a deal on a fairly new Eddy carb on Ebay last week, but they are low on the other stuff. Got any ideas? I am looking for good quality but low price new parts or any place that has lots of used but good items. I wish I had an engine to start with but I didn't so I need to gather up all this stuff and I don't want it killing the rest of my budget... Thanks!

I was really hoping this thread would have been done So the low lamp doesn't stay on while the bright lamp triggers on and off by the flasher? The flasher kills all power to both filliments?

With the running lights on your turn signals are on DIM. Flip the signal switch and they go from contant DIM to BRIGHT - DIM - BRIGHT - DIM, till you make your turn and your steering wheel flips the switch the other direction, which in turn return the bulb back to constant DIM.

bolt in Maxima and others R180s(LSD too?) using original 240Z drivshafts
BillZ260 replied to bjhines's topic in Drivetrain
It apears we still have some gaps in the whole R-Diffs from Subi's. What models are you getting these LSD's out of. mjfawke, I notice you are in OZ, so you have many years of cool subi's we didn't get here in the states. I'd like to know and see a step by step done of the swap with a complete list of parts needed and their supply car. I plan on sticking with My R180 but would like to know what I can use as a close to bolt in swap if it ever dies. -
I wouldn't mind doing that jake but it seems like I'm replacing everything that I bought in my deal. I'll stick with it for now and if it's not enough, I can chance it out later right? I'll order the pistons today, and maybe a set of Summits 1.6 rockers, do you know if I can use standard length push rods with them or do I need to measure and get something to length?
-
These are what I'm looking at right now. If you all don't have any negative things to say about them, I'll probably order them tomorrow so I can have them by the weekend. The are Summit's Hyper Alum pistons, with my heads (64cc chambers per spec sheet) they will give a 9.6:1 ratio. Right in the middle of all the discussions. Thanks for the input fella's! I took my flywheel and flexplate to the machine shop this morn for ballancing and picked up the pistons I purchased with all the other parts i got in my 'deal'. Tom, my machinist, said it was a SHAME i couldn't return the KB hypers for a larger diameter. I agree, any one know who'd do that w/ out a receipt? Also, any word on the SUUMMIT Brand Pistons and rings? Their price is definitly reasonable and this engine isn't going to see NO2 or pressure so I figure their ok. My machinist also said 10CR is probably the max i'd want to use for a daily motor but I am considering all options. I was hoping to see GRUMPY to chime in but I haven't seen him on here for a while. Guess he's too busy playing in his big *** garage

Thanks Mike I doubt I'll get over that that Wheel HP for a while. I'll keep that in mind if i ever do. I'll check out the CF site thanks! I took my flywheel and pressure plate to the machinist this morning, feels good to actually be moving forward on this after SUCH a long time sitting.

Just got my parts in like 15 min ago. They look like they are the right ones. Just looking at that pressure plate, I can NOT tell how it works with pressure applied to the fingers. Is there a site that expalins this? Does the large ground cast section always keep in contact with the disk or does is pull back or ? I've been reading inet pages and have not come across anything that explains how this goes about. I'm wondering because the disk is thicker than the amount of room available between the flywheel and the pressure plate. I've never really dealt with one before. Also what are your veiws on the steel bell housings for a street drivin car. I'm sure i'll get into some spirited driving some day but really I don't think I'll ever need to spin this engine more than 5500 RPM with all the torqe being so down low. Opininons? Still working on the HTB/Fork decision. Phil, Advanced Adapters page was pretty confusing but I did find the mount you mentioned. I asked if it will work with my hardware but they said responce time would be between 15-30 days!

The parts I bought came with standard bore pistons, DOH! I knew it going in and was hopeful the block was in good condition. Apparently there was enough rust on a couple of cyl's that caused a re-bore Oh well, now I need some help on piston choice. I don't need the most killer pistons with this set up so I thought I'd get some input from you guys. Specs: 355 (.03 overbore) chevy Alum Edelbrock Performer Heads w/ 2.02/1.6 valves and a 64 cc chamber Edelbrock Performer 400 Cam .442 lift / 214 Deg Duration Shorty Square port headers, 2.5" exhaust w/ Dynomax I want lots of streetability, low cost, etc., etc. I see summit has some piston sets, anyone have any luck with them? Also and specific ring suggestions as well. This is going to be a mild street engine, on a mostly daily driver. Thanks for the input guys. I'm excited!
