  1. WOW! Do you have it yet? I never got around to getting out there to take a look at it. Let us know how she runs!
  2. Actually I used the heavy because it's what I had. I didn't think about the engine moving, I guess that would rule out the wrap? Those brackets that I used to tie the shield to aren't the stoutest things, they'll probably let the whole thing move it something comes in contact with it.
  3. Just get my Z moving under it's own power and to get back into shape.
  4. Good job, show picks of it finnished up! I like the cheap fixes
  5. Just finished on the bench... Installed Front View, you can see the air between the shield and the brake line... Installed Top View-see how it's bolted to the existing brackets... Here you can sort of see the clearance between the shield and the header, I think it's a large enough pc of metal to dissipate most of that heat, or so I hope!!!
  6. I built a heat shield for the passenger front brake line yesterday out of .035 steel, I'll post a pic soon with the header installed, they arn't too good. I used the mounting clamps for the original fuel lines to bolt to. There is about 1/8 to 1/4 of and inch clearance between the down tubes in the center and the sheild and about the same between the shield and the brake line. I plan on painting with high temp paint and possibly wrapping the headers with heat tape. As you can tell I really don't want to bother to move this line, thoughts??? Anyone know when brake fluid boils? I'M WORKING ON MY CAR AND IT FEELS GREAT
  7. Thanks everybody! Picked up everything this morning, offered him 100 under his bottom dollar and he took it which is 500 less than he listed it all for and about 700 less than it would have cost me to get these NEW parts from Summitt Everything looks great, should hear back from the machine shop Wednesday afternoon, and we'll go from there! Mike, I havn't decided on how I'm going to do the wipers as of yet, dunno if I should put them on a toggle remove the column switch or hook up the column? We'll see.
  8. Congrats! That hood is KILLER!!! Looks like we are both moving forward Still need to drop by sometime, you never did see what I did to the house.
  9. OK, so I've been looking and thinking and talking about what motor to build and procrastinating on making any decisions and I'm sure your all tired of me posting this over and over so.. Tomorrow...FIRST thing I'm running down the road and buying a complete early 2bolt that looks to be in pretty good shape, also picking up brand new in box, a set of Edelbrock Alum Heads, Performer RPM Intake, Cam/Lifter/Timing kit, set of KB pistons, rings, Clevite bearings, and a set of Summitt Rods, w/ all gaskets and an ARP bolk kit, all brand new in boxes! On top of that, I'm getting it FAIRLY cheap too! Pretty much what I have been looking for since i have been stressing over Grumpy posts on studying your needs and parts list, etc.. No more me worrying about getting the right 'combo' of parts, Edelbrock did the work for me right? Anyway, I'm excited, I'm dropping the block and whatever other parts he needs off at the machine shop on my way home Time to get this Z OUT of the garage I'm done, thanks! Bill
  10. Glad to see it's still getting used. Kind of sad to think the last addition I had was last year this time getting ready for the Super Bowl and I havn't really done too much else on the car. But the one thing that works on the car is the electirc I can hook a batt charger and play with my turnsignals all night long! Merry Xmas!
  11. I thought they stuck 'em in the heads along oil passeges (not blocking them of course) and in the pan to attract shavings.
  12. Are these the ones you engine builders are using? I guess the smallest size would apply? http://stores.ebay.com/Neodymium-Magnet-For-Less Pretty cheap stuff, 8 for 25 bucks?
  13. Agreed, ezzzzzzz There has to be an easier way, of course there are alot of small companies doing this and making (seemingly) alot of money doing it. It's not too mainstream yet I guess..
  14. No likey? NO BUY! Personally, I won't be getting them because I am in denial...
  15. I maybe scuff and definitly primer... I got really good result using many many light coats just as with any paint i guess.
  16. Not that I'm bidding or anything but why wouldn't that engine be ok for US street use? Because it's out of a newer care w/ no smog or what. Like if you had it in your Z or whatever, some guy at the DMV or Cop will say hey thats a blah blah blah, try again?
  17. Ok, now I have a question, what's the difference between Hub and Lug Centric???
  18. Do it, it's easy! And you'll be more likely to know where the gremlins are having installing the whole system. The stock system is designed for glitches Or at lease that's what I came to realize when pulling it. Redundant grounding and all kinds of oddities. Go simple, you'll be glad later.
  19. I hear you guys but the new job requires travel to lots of places. Thanks for the info...
  20. I wonder how Hot Mail feels about folks selling their free email adresses....
