  1. uh...yeah! Mike's project, is that the private forum stuff?
  2. it wasn't a sticker was it? I thought it was a rubber boot you pour, and mold over your regular caliper. I guess now we'll just have to thump all the calipers on the hot civic's we're looking at buying...
  3. Hadn't heard from you in a while, glad to see everything is going well. Get that clutch hooked up in the Z???
  4. I think I'll go w/ the dirt track covers for now, cheap and fairly plain. Need to get them on so I can drop this motor in! I'll figure out my stealthness later Thanks guys. Davy, that's what I was thinking of but the $$ of AN fittings is retarded! Maybe someday when I get my own mill/lathe, I'll fab soemthing up.
  5. Since the stock valve covers are not fitting over the roller rockers, I'm trying to come up w/ a clean looking set of valve covers and a way to let them breath w/ out using the little dome breathers or regular vents to carb. The valve covers I found are EDY-4157 Like these but with out the Edy logo... http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rls=SUNA%2CSUNA%3A2006-12%2CSUNA%3Aen&q=edelbrock+4157 I have gone through summit, jegs and a couple of other parts houses, Google, and all others to try and find something unique and fairly inexpensive. Has anyone got pics for ref on theirs? Any ideas? I was thinking it would be cool to come off the back side of both valve covers to a T or Y fitting then to a breather, or maybe to an exhaust scavange set up. Basically I am wanting to keep the engine compartment fairly business looking and don't want too many protrusions here and there, but the last time I didn't put breathers on my valve covers, it ended up blowing out the rear main seal! Thanks!
  6. Google 350ZX lots of hits, pics don't look any different from what I can tell. Maybe just the JDM nomenclature?
  7. Have fun! Ebay is interesting as long as you don't run across loosers. Should be a cool way to make some extra car $$
  8. michael, the final measurment wasn't enough different to post more pics. Take a look at the last two and that's pretty much what I ended up running. The actual wipe was very narrow, didn't measure the width. I installed the rods and rockers friday, got the intake glued on and now I need to find some tall valve covers that look ok. I used to have some Comp polymer valve covers, I might pick up a black set.
  9. Congrats! Enjoy the ride and welcome to the board!
  10. COOL! I pulled up next to a pretty niced dark green 442 this afternoon. Not the same car but pretty much the same. Slick.
  11. Any updates on this? Can you tell me about what you ended up paying to have this done? I'm guessing you used some of those heavy top aluminum valve covers that they milled the design into? I just figured out my valve covers are too short for the roller rockers, so not I'm trying to figure out what I want to do...
  12. Just fyi, Ordered my parts today from the local speed shop, their prices are pretty good on most stuff actually. Looks like they source most of their parts from these guys... http://www.arrow-speed.com/ Wonder what it takes to get a 'wholesale' account? Anyway they matched both sites you listed Pete on the Clutch products.
  13. hey, we've all been 16 w/ our first car after xmas I was thinking about my first car the other day, a '82 Ford LTD (Hey at least it had a 5.0) I had a 12 sub in the rear deck AND a bazooka tube in the trunk. I thought I was baller Oh yeah, after my frist wreck I got a new front clip, it was white and the car was dark blue. At least it matched the white vynil top! I painted blue flames on the white front end to tye it all together. I really wish i had some pics to share! But yes it's pretty lame...
  14. I'd say the 7.8's look like they a bit tighter pattern but aren't much closer to center. I'll go .050 shorter and see but 7.8 looks just about right to me. EDIT 7.7 looks even better, noticed that the intake and exhaust lifters differed a bit in compression but not much. I'm going w/ the 7.7 and will take pics of the finished valve train and engine this weekend if I'm lucky and post those on of my threads EDIT : 7.790 is what the shop had, figure they are close enough. If you all think that's a huge mistake, then I'll cancell. Othewise I'll have them by noon tomorrow. :)
  15. good point, DOH! Sheesh. I'll see what the 7.8 does when I get home. You guy's are keeping me straight! What about how the lifter affect this test???
  16. well, liability should run you about the same no matter what car you drive. If you cover the car the $ will depend on the book valvue, which will be very low. If you want to insure the actuall value of the vehicle w/ mods, then you'll have to get it apraised and all that. Right now mine just has liability but I really need to get it fully insured, even sitting on dollies! Costing me about 25 bucks a month but I'm 30 and married.
  17. Well, we have comparison pics here, the earlier ar 7.8" rods (Pick w/ both valves) and the post last night was w/ it set 7.850. On both tests, I rolled the engine over 4 times to cycle each valve twice. So on the drive in this morning I was thinking. When you rotate the engine over are the lifters pumping up at all? If so, then I think the 7.850 is what I want, but if the are not pumping up then I'm thining the 7.8 would be closer to center. Couple more comments? Please. I'm off tomorrow, I can get them from the speed shop if I order today and have this thing together tomorrow!!! No rush though really, I definitly want to do it right.
  18. Ok, got my adjustable rod in today. I set it to 7.850 (.050 longer thans what I tested with originally). Here is the results. I think they are alot closer than with 7.8" rods. What do you all think? To me it looks like they are a hair too long but unless I get custom rods, I think this is it. I'll run a couple more cyls tomorrow and see what turns up but it looks like I should be able order my rods tomorrow eve. I might call the speed shop for prices, and see if they can get them in sooner. I edited these pics a bit to try and get the wear marks to show up so the colors are off a bit.
