  1. Sounds interesting. So does he take your engine specs, needs, and all that and put together a carb for you? Would this be overkill for street daily driver? I am only wanting to put out 300-350 hp on a mostly stock 350 and I am wondering if I need such an advanced carb.
  2. I don't think it is a matter of the RED CROSS being corrupt, but rather that incidents like this don't happen very often OR this large of scale. So when they do, and especially in a forgin country, EVERYTHING is disorganized. I am sure they hadn't prepaired for this or any scenario remotly as large scale as this is going to turn out to be. 9/11 was a drop in the bucket compared to this travesty, and the mis-use of funds (with the best intentions) is going to be there. Not really sure what the best thing for you to do, as far as making sure your $$ is spent wisely, but try to imagine what it is like over there. Stay informed and pray for the 100K plus and thier families.
  3. So...who's going to translate these for us? I took Japaneese in HS and a semester in college, but, not of that is retained. Maybe some of the guys staitioned over there or that frequent that part of the world?
  4. Mike, so how did the heat soak method work? Sounds like it's the way to go. Thanks for the info.
  5. I heard that idea on NPR yesterday and was like "what a good idea". The only problem for me is that I don't buy fireworks... Do you have a website or any links where we might be able to donate easily?
  6. Dude, that does suck. I have read through your other posts on this issue. I wish I had some input for you. I can't imagine what the problem is. The only thing I can think of is if you are using the tool in a different manor. I have never used one so I don't know, but like on a puller, there is a long and short set of arms, could something like that be affecting the push that the installer has? Just trying to give some support... Good Luck.
  7. We went to see Colin Mochary and another guy from "Who's line is it anyway" about 4 weeks ago, got her some perfume, a subscription to news week, and a wedding band. She didn't like the one that came with her ring originally. We've been married for 2.5 yrs now and I guess she's been asked when the wedding is enough times already We got a roomba for xmas and I could really care less how clean the floors are compared to the dyson. This little dude kicks ass on hardwoods/area rugs! SET IT AND FORGET IT! HA HA HAAA It is the coolest thing! I turned it on and was out in the garage, came in to get a drink and it had the living room mapped already and was doing douhnuts around chair legs Also got a Sonicare elite, very nice, first day my lips were numb but now my teeth feel really clean! Lots of smaller fun stuff the the roomba is my fave.
  8. You could go to the the yard and get one of those volvo intake inlet tubes. Looks like the peice that comes with a carb or TB supercharger set up. There are some posts somewere discussing that they cover the carb. THen you could remote mount another cone type air filter. Just a thought.
  9. I am with Tim. Buy yourself some 18 ga sheet. IIRC, 2 sheets 2'x5' or somewhere close to those dims will get you very close to coving both sides entirely. Sub Frame con's are a good idea no matter what you plan on doing to the car. You can do it all for less than 100 bucks + welding if you don't weld.
  10. I dig it but would rather build my own for much less....
  11. MK, I know what you mean. The 3 series was her lustmobile but for the same $ we had to get one with quite a few miles and she didn't like the interior layout at all. We checked out the S40's and they are smallish compared to the TSX, but competitive in all aspects but asthetics. Didn't look at mercedes, but like you, we found the Acura to be a high quality car with honda reliablilty and a lot of +'s for the price. And it was hard to go with a used one for almost the same price as a brand new one. The CL is 2D only right? That 3.2 would be nice, lots more torque than the 2.4 in the TSX, that is it's only weak point as a 'sports sedan'. So if you are looking for a 4D car, this TSX is difficult to beat, back seats had plenty of room for me, 6'3" and a buddy 6' 250, while the wives were up front. Humungo trunk, nice stereo (Pioneer), totally loaded as standard. This thing has LOT's of features that makes me want something new! But I will wait and drive the explorer till she dies or untill I get the Z hummin... Good luck.
  12. Thanks mike, I love this car! We drove down to OKC this weekend and it rides smooth but when you hit a corner there is NO noticable body roll. Now of course I didn't throw it around but it's tight. Lots of features in the cabin, should be a good car for a LONG time...
  13. My wife has had her mind set on a new Acura TSX, we looked at 04's but they sold out before we could sell her car, the 94 Celica I had posted in the classifieds. Well we picked up her car Friday at the dealer with a total of 4 miles on it! Already got 300 as of today This is my wifes first new car, i have never had one, and I am proud of her for getting it all on her own OH, and that nasty front plate is gone... The Acura is really nice, and maybe MAYBE I can get some sympathy from her so I can get my Z rolling! Sheesh.

    05 TSX

My wife has been saving up for a while and we sold her 94 celica ST, and bought this. Not a Z but it's an awesome car!
  15. zz4 short block is a regular 4 bolt block with chevy internals. If you want the scat and other internals, just get a 4 bolt rebuildable block and get machine work done on it or a new 4 bolt from GM. Then add your parts to make the shortblock you want. I don't think there is anything special about the BLOCK, with a ZZ4 engine. Right?
  16. Drifter, could you please post the cost of your build up and the hp you ended up with ect? I think it would be good to start doing write up's on our engine builds so other members would have a place to look up what they want and build it. I know there will still be questions, but I was thinking how awesome would it be if all the guys with SBC's has a standard form type write up on all the parts they used (maybe even part #'s) and what they ended up with RWHP wise. Just thinking. I am going to get moving on my engine once I get my dad's estate settled. VROOM! BTW I am using vortecs, I think that a bit of reworking of the ports by someone experienced can net you plenty of power with less cost if you can get a deal on them. Just my .02 if you you want Iron heads.
  17. Isn't that what DARIUS is running on his? ProCharger 14D or something like that on his LT1? Ref http://www.Darius240.com
  18. BLAH BLAH BLAH! 19 = do not settle down. I think you should have to post a pic of your Z and your woman you are having problems with. Firstly to see if you have a Z, and are considered bretheren (Sp?). Secondly to see... well if you should just drop the whole thing and move on Don't get me wrong, I know the guy's on this board can be very supportive when something distraughtfull happens in our lives but, I personally don't want to see ALL the relationship woes of all the youngsters. This is not SoapZ Anyone with me on this, or am I just getting old?
  19. I think we are keeping up with the latest 'board' software, more features, reliability and ease of use.
  20. That's cool that you are playing with them, maybe you could make one with rheostats and make lots of things adjustable. I will look up in the attic to see if I still have mine, if I do it's yours to 'play' with.
  21. Do you all have "RE-TOOL" in your area's, or is it just a local thing? I am sure there is something similar. It's basically a pawnshop of used tools, EVERYTHING, and their prices are actually decent on most stuff. they had some FLOOR units for under 200 bucks and one of them had an ossilating drum sander attachment on it, was like $180! The spindle was tight and was a decent looking machine. Keep your eyes open, you can find good (expensive) stuff cheap, or at least in your budget, most of the time.
  22. My wife has a celica ST that she is selling, If I didn't have the Z it would be mine with a 3SGTE and a RAV 4 trans and rear axle. Supposedly BOLTS RIGHT IN!!
  23. Depends on the 260, you can find the VIN number online somewhere farely easy, they you can see where they stopped making the 240 style, and started building the 280 stlye frames. The early's are a bulked up 240, have all the same suspension as the 240 but with a bit more bracing. The laters ones are a "light" 280 but will have the 280 strut tubes and such.
