Well, my car is on jackstands now with no drivetrain... so?? It sits nice but the rear may need to come down a bit more, but I really won't know untill everything is together...

This is MAINLY why I don't have time or money to work on the Z.... MY HOUSE. It's almost never ending but fun non-the-less. Will start with the pool table, wish I would have taken some before pictures. Our den is a 30+' by 16' room that was almost totally empty so I got a table for free but it needed 'work', lots of it here it is amidst renovation... Behind you can see a picture window frame and a door frame, these were inbetween our living room and Den (which used to be a porch). We also had some french doors here but moved them into the dining room to have more privacy in the master b room.... Turn your head to the Right From the den side this is the hole that needed to be filled and I thought a wall was too boring From the living room side... This is my first cabinet project, so far so good. I bought the lowers from home depot, they are pretty cheap but have Red Oak facia, the rest I built with 3/4" red oak ply wood and 1x2 and 1x3 trim. I am going to attemt to build some speakers for the top shelves with some help from an audiophile buddy, and screen them in. The TV opening is just right for Samsungs 50" DLP, which I will have to save up for, all the audio video stuff will be in the double cabinets below. Oh, and since my wife never had any video games as a child she is currently working her way through almost ALL the systems and Mario games (her fav). SO we will have NES, SNES, PS2, N64, and Possibly an XBOX plumed in there too. So, as all this is happening, my poor Z is neglected and collecting saw dust!

I wrapped mine around the front of the subframe channell since I had to cut out the floors anyway. I don't have my rear sway bar installed yet but there is enough clearance. Mine are based off of Pete's as well..

Ok thanks, I plan on doing mostly street drivnig but the occasional track day or auto x. I will probably need to get a tank with a baffle later on but I guess i don't need to worry about this apparatus

All these surge tank diagrams and pictures show them with return lines, what if I don't have a return line...... What I have Fuel Cell w/ no baffle (probably need to rethink this) to Holley red pump to Some carb i have to buy that will top off a SBC

Pete, I think I need smaller bites! I have confidence in my assembly abilities as I have built two other engines, my first was a 350 i built with ALOT of help from a freind and his dad in HS. The second was a GZ200 Isuzu that I built my self over a winter break in college. Both ran well and I did gasket match the head on the Isuzu for that little bit of extra power! I have read two of the basic books grumpy has suggested on SBC engine building and I think they give great insight and good practices on disassembly and basic build ups. But there is just an overwhelming amount of parts available and like Mike says so I don't want to make a mistake or have to redo this later. At this point all I really want to do is drive my damn car, which I haven't done in well over 18 months. It's hard going out to change the laundry and see it sitting there, seemingly ready to take me away!!! Anyway, I was a machinist for about 7-8 years total, throught HS and college but in the last 4 years I mostly worked with CNC stuff. I am sure that I can do alot of the basic mods I guess I need to get some other books that show in detail what to do. I have ALOT more time than I do money but really, I am afraid if I don't get this at least rolling by next summer, then it will keep getting pushed of for other projects. (this year was the Den/living room remodle that I am in the middle of right now...) I think I will start by cleaning out all the CRAP i have accumulated, yeah, I still have 3 small blocks in the garage(only one block is usable). I need to clean house, sell off a bunch of stuff and start looking for a complete ballanced assembly. We will start from there...keep the suggestions coming!!! Thanks again Pete and Mike..

I see no reason why they couln't be turned unless they are at their min thichness. I don't know much about it but it seems the chamfers on the holes may need to be deepend if turned a bunch? Just a guess...

The block i have doesn't have a roller cam but did have the PM rods, and the holes in the lifter galley for the roller lifter retainer. I think it was out of a burban. 450 hp is way beyond what I need to start out with You trying to kill me? I don't think I can say how much I appretiate this site and people.
