    torque arm

    just figured a lot of you guys worked on chevy cars enough to know about them pretty good, this questions for a 80s f-body, im putting a th350 in this guys iroc and it has no provisions for the torque arm, what will deleting the torque arm due if left out? i can see crazy oversteer, thats ok, im worried the rear end wont have any support, even though it does have a panhard. anyone?
  2. oh im not mad, car is running good, just too slow for me now i guess, i gotta work on my 60ft and top end punch really much, mph is at 106, but 60 is 2.4 due to losing first gear everytime even with leaving the line close to idle, people at the track were all complaining about traction, seems that sears point raceway dragstrip is concrete now instead of ashphalt. oh well, i gotta do some more tuning, i was advanced way to far and vacum advance diaphram is gonzo. imma recurve the distributor do more carb tuning-top end took a huge dump on me, but the car held up great and didnt overheat, but i did

  6. 400 sbc 030. over 10:1 flatops performer alum. heads 292h comp cam hyd. roller hei ignition full length headers 750 holley double pumper what can i expect out of a combo like this as is motor is pretty fresh.

    why?

    i think its a given on any old car to do adress teh suspension, and to upgrade the brakes, man theres plenty of info on the brakes, i think now its more internalized and people already know what to do with the suspension and brakes because its not much different then what you would do with a stock z car, just beefier in terms of spring rate and shock i think, and theres amilliion and one brake options.
  12. when the exhaust is done rigth they sound good but most stick a 5"fart pipe and 2.5 all the way out and it sounds lame, even lamer when its an auto and you can hear it. the si is a fun little car, i just wish you could get some torque with those crazy high redlines.

  15. i run a holley and get the gas smell too. very strange, i tore it down replaced gaskets and set floats and it wont go away, maybe it is a hollley thing?
  16. hey ive been driving the car more than i have been in almost a year, and im finding mroe and more things that i gotta do, this is number one. when car is warm, shifting is really easy to do and really likes to shift, but if i get stuck in traffic and have to repetitively go from neutral to first and shift alot, after i while i have to pump the clutch pedal to shift it into first, the longer im in stop and go the harder it gets to put it in gear, almost killed myself missing second and having to pull over when i got rejected. could it be the fluid boiling over, would changing fluid type help it out? im pretty sure a 1" mc is plenty big enough, would going to a different slave with more throw help it out? weird stuff i know. before i go to a different slave cylinder maybe i dont have to? will bleed clutch cylinders adn used a synthetic fluid dot5 first to see if theres any difference, want to make sure no air in line. any thoughts suggestions fellas.???
  17. i think the weight of the 351 is offset pretty good in a ford swap cuz you can put the motor farther back due to the distributor being in the front of the car. now a 302 in the same position may have a handling advantage, but i think a built 351 will blow that slight handling advantage away, and on the street its a no-brainer, 351 is gonna be gonzo on a 302.
  18. there were two? man my memory is pretty cloudy when it comes to th old transformers cartoons, only one i can remeber well is the ones where optimus prime gets "salvage title" and the rodimus prime takes over, did anyone notice he has a supercharger whine when he drives around, i think he was the only forced induction autobot. you learned english watching that show? i think i learned more chinese than english, with my mom screaming and swatting me at me because i wouldnt leave it alone(show conflicted with schoool)
  19. i like the idea of a dohc v8, i know i could physically get the motor and trans mounted, it would be pretty badass to get the rear end as well, as much of the donor as you can transplant, my only issues are the power you can get, there are no hop up parts for these engines, but i have heard a five speed from a 300zx same years bolts up, but dont quote me boy cause i aint said $h17

    welding

    my welding sucks, but paying to have stuff welded for you sucks more, havent got a welder for the garage yet, my buddies and i are goign to pitch in for one about 175.00 between three of us, we all gotta do floorpans. once i get the hang of it imma be a welding everything i can, maybe even go dukes of hazard and weld the doors shut! naw none of that. but i can see myself reinforcing a frame to be stupid tough, stupid tough.
  22. went out for lunch after finals, we were in my girls honda civic, nothing special, rice rocket auto with 17" inch wheels, fart pipe, bunch of bolt ons i did up for her, lowered clean stock paint job. were four deep im driving, integra pulls up at the light, i dry rev for him a little bit, they are four deep as well, and he gives me this crazy vtec redline free rev from hell! were all laughing and playing cheezy hip hop music from the radio as loud as possible, and i keep blipping the throttle, he takes off as hard as he can, i cruise the speed limit, and the guy just rolls off into the sunset. next im rolling down the street, and another civic with turbo stickers wing kit rims and a bolt on turbo rolls up next to us tryign staring at the girls, gave him some gas and made him downshift and vtec boost away from us, more kicks, i forget that when youre in a honda rocket, everything wants to race you, its ridiculous, and man its fun.
  23. im running a 1" tilton mc to a stock datsun slave with modified rod at the end, dont like it, its still kinda riggy like. ive cleaned up everything else drivetrain like, and its time to clean up the rest and im starting here. that thing like humongous, how does that thing work, im not used to seeing aftermarket slave cylinders i guess. mine only had the pushrod side and ther other end has threads for a fitting, you know stock style. that thing is huge, ill look into it, just thought that a chevy type slave cylinder would work easier since some had four speeds already. thanx
