  1. well now my gauge is reading 16 1/2 on vac and it reads 18-18 1/2 on deceleration. so maybe my gauge is the problem. an on boost im at 6 psi. Also engine is no longer running rough!. I decided to change the plugs, and while i had them out i decided to do a compression test which turned out with good numbers, 130 all across. Anyways when i was taking the plug wires out i decided to take out the wire that goes to the dizzy and it turned out the connector was broken in half! i replaced it and the car runs great now, it takes off on the freeway! thanks of ur helps guys
  2. alright so I just got my l28et swap running. It keeps running rough tho. on my boost gauge the vacuum reads at 15, and for some reason i remember it being closer to 22-25 or something. so ive been lead to believe i have a pretty big vacuum leak, but i cant figure out where. i just put the intake exhaust manifolds on with a new gasket and i know i torqued all the bolts right, and ive checked about everywhere else and i cant find anything. the only place i dont have blocked off is the egr valve(i dont know how major that is tho) when i drive the car and about 2,500 rpms and keep it there the car will jump back and fourth on me constantly(not very hard but you can feel it) ive checked my plugs they seem alright, not running lean or rich, the tps is working. the only other thing i can think of is my timming is probably off a little because i dont have a timming light(i have it set a little more on the retarted side) anyone got any ideas?! note: i bought a turbo short block and assembelled it with all turbo parts stock(heads rebuilt)
  3. hey guy, so i dropped the tranny and it turned out it was that little adapter. put everything back together and the car fired right up, im running a little rough though and i cant figure out why. anyways thanks for all your help guys.

  5. thank you, i kept thinking the same thing to myself. hey so uh, ive dropped the tranny a couple of times but, both times i drained the fluid. i dont really want to have to do that again. have you guys have any luck with dropping the tanny with out having to drain it first. i don't want the drive shaft to accidentally slip out and cover my driveway with fluid. any quick opinions on this would be great as i want to do this in a couple of hours. thanks
  6. how do i remove the round plate, im just wondering because i didnt notice it so i dont know what it looks like.
  7. that sounds like it could be it. i didnt even think about that nor do i know what this thing even looks like. how do i remove it(after i remove the fly wheel and clutch ofcourse)
  8. ok so i think turboHLS30 is right, i checked the clearance between the teeth on the flywheel and block and is 1/2 inch, while on my non turbo lock its a 1/4 of an inch. what did i do wrong? i torqued the bolts to the flywheel to spec. i dont get how its sitting back to far, anyone know what went wrong?
  9. well i have tried three starters now, and i know two of them worked for sure, in fact i was using one of the yesterday with no problems...im just charging my battery now in hopes that its the problem:( is there anything else i could be missing guys?
  10. on wrong how? i know the teeth are facing the right way. what could i have done to mess it up? oh and starter number 3 is just grinding...maybe it is a bad battery?
  11. hey guys, so i just for the third time swapped in a l28et in my car. i just finished the wiring and the fuel pump and everything is working fine. i was ready to start the engine but when i cranked it the started felt like it lost grip of the fly wheel. I tried to crank it again and the starter isnt making contact with anything, it just keeps spinning. i thought maybe it was because of low battery(which shouldn't be the problem) so i hooked up some jumper cables to a running car and still the same thing. so then i got one of my extra starters, when i put it in the same thing. I already turned the crank over with a socke wrench by the crank pulley, and it was turning fine. i cant figure out why my starter wont turn the engine. note: i built this block so i put on the head plus timing and the clutch and fly wheel on.

  13. hey guys, so i was just letting u know that my car just passed smog with the engine i just put in, the guy at the smog station said he couldn't believe it, he said with the exhaust leak it had on it he felt bad passing it it. great news for me though, i haven't been on the road in 6 months. finally can go back to turbo woot woot!

  15. hey guys, i just bought an l28e with a 4spd tranny(which is forsale btw if anyone is interested) anyways i put the engine in and fired it up. i have white smoke coming out of the valve cover but the engine has been sitting for a very long time. so i don't think i have a bad head gasket, but i just put this engine in so i can pass smog and my numbers came out in order from 1 to 6 as 148 145 148 150 145 148. are these too low? will this affect me passing smog? my car is a 1978 280z
  16. i disagree, i see your point but lets just say if someone bought your car, or anything that was sentimental to you simple to destroy it(not realistic i know), ya of course you got the money and its no longer yours but i wouldn't want to see the car or whatever that i put hours of work into be sold to a person that doesn't have respect for it.
  17. hey so maybe a dumb question but i am changing out my master cylinder with a 15/16 one and i have the new master cylinder but i don't know what glue to put on the plate that goes between the master cylinder and the brake booster. anyone know what im talking about?!

  20. mine does the same thing, it used to never work until i took it out of the car and i hit it a few times. but now mine works great...until it gets hot of course, other wise when it cold outside i was talking to someone and they said you either have to clean the connection or make it so it doesn't get as hot, i haven't figured out a way of accomplishing that yet tho
  21. get a screw driver and tig weld the tip to the broken part of the bolt...then just twist and itll come out. worked for me
