  1. do you mean you cant get the sprocket onto the cam?
  2. You dont want to keep cranking if it doesnt start! if i were you i would just redo my timing again. its not to difficult, especially since i was able to do it just winging it. If you are sure you have spark and fuel then i would just try and make sure you set the timing right. For the cylinder head just line it up with the mark(not to difficult) and to get the crank TDC all you have to do is put your finger on the #1 cylinder where the spark plug goes and turn the crank untill you feel air push your finger. thats how you know your on the compression stroke. to me it sounds like theres something wrong with your tenshioner, so if i were you i would just buy a whole new timming kit and do the above.

  4. hey so what i dod was i actually bought another f54turbo block today haha, i saw it and it was cheap, so i got it quick just in case my block was badly damaged. it turns fine but i dont know how many miles are on it. Is there a thread explaing how to inspect it? because i dont know how to check if eveything is in good condition. what do you think i should do?
  5. It wont turn over with a breaker bar. So what do i need to do to fix it. am i better off trying to find another f54 block?
  6. ive searched and searched but i haven't found an answer relating to me. im sure there is but im going crazy searching....so don't tell me to search So heres the story, i did an l28et swap on my 280z. everything was great and i was tearing up the streets until one day water started leaking from a hose and my car overheated and the head gasket blew. About three days ago i replaced the headgasket and put the timing chain on along with a rebuilt cylinder head. the car started up first try and was running great, it wasnt over heating the oil pressure was fine , everything seemed to be good. i put about 300 miles on it over the past few days and it was running better than ever. Then my brother who was just dying to drive asked me if he could so i threw him the keys and he took it out really quick with my cousin. ten minutes later i get a call saying my car broke down. he told me that he was driving normally and then he down shifted into second and the car died. he then started it up again and drove it but he said it was making a weird noise and then just died on him again. after that it wouldnt even crank. Today i took off the cylinder head to check for any valve damage (because i thought maybe i out the chain on wrong)but everything was okay. the problem is the crank wont turn...at all. what could have caused this. the car was running fine and then just all of the sudden the carnk wont turn at all. how can this happen. anybody know what happend?
  7. taking the dash out is easy. last time i took my dash out i timed myself(really lame, i know) and i did it in just over 20 min, and i was scrambling for tools also
  8. im looking for a pair of toyota 4x4 calipers 79-85 new or used complete with pads.
  9. i see ur point, but the thing is its not just as simple as replacing the gasket becasuse i have two threads in the head that are completely warped so i will be taking the head to a machine shop...so i will have the head off, thas why im asking what u guys think i should replace while i have it off.
  10. Im just finished getting my l28et in my 78 280z. its running okay but ive run into problems. my exhaust manifold is leaking from the gasket and my car instead of putting out 7psi is only pushing 4 now ... so ive decided that i want to rebuild the engine as long as im going to have to replace the gasket. i wanted to know what u guys think i should replace. the engine has approximently 1200000 miles on it. so what do u guys think i should do, i dont want to spend too much money but i want to replace things to make sure it will be in good running order? note i want to in the future be making about 250hp and my turbo is rebuilt.
