well you need to know what kind of liquid it is. is it oil or gas? if its oil, then you probably have a blown head gasket, if its fuel then you have unburned fuel. you could try and change you plugs wires and cap. and recheck all of you connections. or maybe you injectors are stuck open or too high of fuel pressure. try doing a compression test, i just bought a comp tester for like $25, its cheap and can tell you alot about your motor.

That's what i was thinking. if i have the cash from him i dont really care what he does. but i see how it would be a scam but i dont see why someone would want to scam me out of a car which doesn't have much value(or an engine)

ok, well it smells of gasoline... my guess for it running rich is maybe bad o2 sensor, bad water temp sensor, or the AFM. I took if for another test ride and it was driving much better and there is less smoke(almost not visible anymore) and i haven't changed anything since last time i drove it.

What COLOR is the smoke? smoke looked dark Why did you adjust the timing down if it was running great? because it doesnt seem right to be driving it with the timing so far advanced...it makes me nervous. Have you checked the spark plugs (gap & tip color)? gaps are good, plugs are black Have you checked the fuel pressure? nope Have you checked the a/f ratio? nope Have you tried advancing the timing back to 34*? yes, runs better, high idle though Have you checked ALL sensors and connections? yes and cleaned them

could you run a line directly from the hard line to the intake manifold to just lose the canister?

Also it looks like my AFM has been tampered with by the previous owner. It has been resealed. And i know he said he was running 12-13 psi on the stock electronics so maybe he played with the AFM. anyone got any ideas?

Okay, so i changed the fuel filter and it didn't fix the problem. I did notice something else though. When i set the timing at 20 BTDC and started the engine, i am getting a cloud of smoke. I will sometimes get this upon acceleration when driving around also. Im thinking that its unburned fuel? If im running too rich, would this be a reason for me losing power at higher rpm's now VS. when my timing was advanced?

ok so i bought a timing light today so i could set my timing properly. when i checked what my timing was at, it said i was idling at about 975 rpm @ about 34 degrees btdc. NOTE: this is what it was at previously, and the engine was actually running great on boost. So i retarted the dizzy and the light read 20 btdc @820 rpm(which still seemed a little high but better). So i took it out fore a test run, and at about 5,000 rmp the engine pulls back and i felt less power getting up also. im stumped as to why this is happeing, i thought i would run better with the timing set right. anyone know whats wrong

nvm, i figured it out...it was a pain in the ass though, when i took the mustache bar out the bushings still would come out. i ended up using a torch to get the old bushing out.

im trying to replacing my diff bushings but i cant get the mustache bar to lower enough. can anyone tell me the proper procedure to getting the old bushings off. im a little stuck. so far i have unbolted the nuts that are directly under the bushings and the nuts that go into the differential itself.

I already tried this but i feel that it doesn't give me the right answer. It said with the 240zx tranny it should max out around 170ish...does that sound right to you? maybe im typing in something wrong whenever i do it i was just wondering does anyone know from experience.

does anyone know what a 280z would max out at with the 240sx tranny in it?

my l28et compression was 130psi on four of the cylinders, 131, and 133 on the other two. this was on a short block from a junkyard

I always see it, and i dont understand why they hang dolls from their exhaust. Anyone know what that's about. Its been bugging me for the longest time.
