Set safely to 14-15 psi...for now. I can't afford the time to rebuild this motor right now so I am trying to keep it all in one piece.
buzy, I think a wide angle would make things appear faster...not really sure. This camera has a fixed lens.
Annnnywaaay, here is an update on MouseWars 2008. I have nailed roughly 40-45 mice since I began the battle. The traps have sat mouse free for about a month now which tells me I am in the lead. I have two traps in my basement, two in my garage, two in the Z storage shed, and one inside the Z. I pulled five critters out of the Z so far.
Since the weather was nice this weekend, I took the opportunity to shake out the Z and super-seal the shed. I locked myself in the shed after taking everything out of it and looked for light penetration. Then I cut blocks of wood and nailed them over all of the openings that showed any amount of light. I found some large gaps that are now tight. I also put a metal screen over the fresh air intakes on the Z so that the mice can't travel into the HVAC system.
For now. I have won the war.
It's tough to drive 80 in a 30 with one hand on a camera in a 30 year old car with too much power. I find it's also tough to get the sensation of speed on camera. Need practice...and a camera mount.
Got the Z out from the shed today. The snow melted and the mud was pretty firm so I was able to get her down to the road. Yesterday's rain did a great job of washing the salt away. Tomorrow will bring another 6-10" of snow so back to the shed she goes for another day to wait. Life of a Z in the Northeast.
Probably turbo surge causing the boost to bounce off your BOV. Mine does the same thing sometimes. It happens when I acclerate and then back off the throttle slightly. The problem is that there is no hysterisis built into the BOV's so they get into this confused state of open-close-open-close. Search for "surge".
Here is some video I shot with my mini-cam on my commute home from work today. I edited it with Cyberlink PowerDirector. Might as well have fun on a rainy day!

Comments and constructive criticism appreciated from all you film-makers out there.
This is for a Subaru WRX. (if link dead, see attached)

It looks like the concept would work just as well under an S30 chassis.
Opinions?
nucking futz!
Did you ever see the jetman or birdman?

Clive and I met for lunch yesterday. He works about 4 miles from where I work. I happened to have my new mini-camera. This camera is unreal. It's about $60 and it's the size of a USB memory stick. You can get photos, audio, video and webcam. It maxes out at about 6 minutes of video and the resolution is only 320x240 but it's really clear and the sound is great.
here is the camera: http://www.dansdata.com/edvr.htm
I plan on taping it to the outside of the Z to get some really cool videos from tough angles. I probably could even get some suspension video!
See my WRX in the background in the beginning. Youtube reduced the quality of the video. It's just a casual video testing the camera.

My Subaru WRX wears WS-50 Blizzaks on all four corners. Talk about unstoppable! The Z was useable in the snow as long as you don't need to climb any hills and you have GOOD winter tires. I drove mine in the snow way back when it was bone stock suspension with good all seasons. It got me around. Remember narrow tires and soft suspensions are better in snow. I took it skiing to Vermont a few times and drove it through part of college in NY through some snowy weather.
Special tools? Not really, just a valve spring compressor, a socket, a flat screwdriver, a vice, a bucket of cleaning solution, and a bucket of clean motor oil, and a bunch of shop towels.
Let's go on strictly labor assuming you have all the right tools. I would say about an hour to remove the lifters, an hour to re-install them, and about three hours dismantling them cleaning and re-assembling. Estimate a 5 hour job and there is NO gaurantee that this will fix the issue permanently or even immediately. Chances are that it will work, but don't make any strong promises. The alternative is to purchase a rebuilt P90 head with solid rocker posts.
-edit: dont forget to figure in an oil change shortly after all of this.

I have the ratios written down somewhere because I rebuilt it before I put it in the car. I will try to dig them out. It's stock ratio for an early 200SX 4-cyl. The L28 Bell housing needs to be swapped onto the trans. It's a bolt-on.
This is an uphill onramp onto an uphill parkway. Listen how short my 1st gear is with the 200SX tranny behind the L28ET and a 3.54 rear. I have to basically get out of 1st before I can accelerate. This was with the stock injectors so I couldnt rev past 5000rpm or I would lean out at 15psi. For reference, it took me 17 seconds to catch that Volvo that goes by me at the beginning. Uphill!
