  1. LOL Well, yes, sort of. If you add up all the money I've spent on the Z, and divide it by the number of years I've spread it over...it works out to around $1000 or less per year. I would consider that pretty mild all things considered. At least that's how I justify it in my own mind. My own labor is priceless in this equation of madness.
  2. I have been home with a nasty sinus and ear infection for a few days. Today's warm weather, combined with prescription medication, the lure of clean and dry roads pumped me with enough energy to get out and break the winter seal off the storage shed. For those of you that don't experience the loss of your Z for three to four months every year...Let me tell you it's like pants-on abstinence. So enjoy the ten minute adventure of first drive of the year 2008. The Z feels great and boy is it nice to see a clean car at the end of a cold, dirty, nasty, Winter. Video should be available in a few minutes but you probably will need a good connection to enjoy the ride. Sorry dialupers. >
  3. Phil regardless that 3 does look lean, they all look pretty good. I suspect that the meth injection has an effect on the plug cleanliness too. I wired in a "CAL" button and "AUX power" switch into my O2 sensor circuit. I flip the switch to CAL mode to give the sensor 12volts with the engine off and then hit the CAL button to let it start the cycle. Do this with the car cold to make sure there is no residual gas in the exhaust system.
  4. Aluminized steel is a nice cost effective alternative to SS. Many of us are on a budget and aluminized fits the bill. My full exhaust is aluminized steel and it looks as good as new five years later without breaking the bank. Just an FYI.
  5. I thought so. It's been a long time since me and webers were an item but the old holes in the side of my head still work.
  6. Nice find. My dream car has tripple carbs on it! I think I hear a missing cylinder when he revs it up but it's tough to tell on video. It could be that the carbs need balancing.
  7. Looks like JHD is not new to the legal system: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:hwb5o1l7Km8J:caselaw.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl%3Fcourt%3Dnc%26vol%3Dappeals2005/%26invol%3D040420-1+John+Hunter+Dailey&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us&client=opera http://www.aoc.state.nc.us/www/public/coa/opinions/2005/pdf/040420-1.pdf
  8. I don't think it's wrist pin scoring either. It's doesn't line up with the bore centerlines in the photo. That cylinder is apparently cleaner than the others also. That could be from coolant leak or running HOT and lean which could also have been detonation. Measure up that score with a bore gauge. You might be able to run it like that or just change out a piston and do a manual hone as a temporary fix.
  9. Nice. However I need the heater/AC controls so I sacraficed the radio. I mounted the Megaview display panel that scrolls through tons of parameters. It's like 30 gauges in one. The only problem is that it takes a few minutes to scroll all the gauges. You can stop it on two or three gauges if you want. It also flashes the numbers if they are out of range.
  10. How dumb do you have to be to think you got a real Ferrari when your engine says Pontiac? http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB120415357135797887-nC0sHAJEQjjQHvq0KxWX6p23SnI_20080328.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top
  11. That's exactly what my 280 looked like in 1989 when I bought it with 69,000 miles on it. I paid $3500 for mine back then. You got a sweet steal.
  12. Apparently so. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080227/lf_nm_life/robot_dog_dc
  13. This has been posted and discussed but it is vague. BALLPARK FIGURES: On the L28ET Stock longblock, turbo, and injection, depending on the exhaust system, you will see anywhere from 10-15HP for every PSI you add in boost up to a certain point. After 10psi total, you better be adding fuel and intercooling. IF you start with an NA motor, you will make closer to the 15HP per PSI added BUT you will run into the detonation wall MUCH sooner. Guessing around 5psi max with the NA injection? NOTE: The stock L28ET figures of 180HP are made at 7psi.
  14. FORGET YOUTUBE. go to Vimeo.com I want to do that too....wheres my snow shovel. I gotta go dig out the Z...and add about 200 more ponies.
  15. The best part is that you were in the minority of cars that made it across the continent , raced, and drove back across without ANY issues....and the car is only a mock up at this point
  16. Car of the Quarter...and Canadian quarters are worth more these days.
  17. Yes it would. But to run the front brake lines into the cabin is another project separate from installing the brake kit.
  18. Wow time flies! It seems like yesterday I was installing the brakes and here we are in 2008! I find it difficult to comprehend where the time goes. The line lock valve was faulty. Dave at AZC sent me a new one. The line lock works fine. Don't trust it to keep your car parked on a hill. It will hold fine until it lets go and then... Just use it for flat parking and quick parking in addition to a rock under the tires.
  19. Looks great so far! Now back to sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
