  1. Calibrate the O2 to CLEAN AIR. Let the datalogger calculate the adjustments. Manually go over the new VE map and smooth it out. Set your timing map to something conservative, like 18idle - 30full with smooth gradients all over the map. Confirm timing with a good old timing light. Drive>Datalog>MegalogTune>Manual MAP smooth>Drive....repeat. CONGRATS! to the world of MS tuning and the car sounds nice. Finally! -Dave
  2. Go get some sleep! Looks like you need stickier FRONT tires. LOL.
  3. Don't think that the thought didn't cross my mind! I cant wait to start making all those Solidworks wheels I designed. It prints in full color as well! We are trying to get it approved for next years budget plan.
  4. I am an ME with a BSME and have been working as one for the past 14 years or so. If I had to do it all again, I would start my own plumbing, electrical, or landscaping business. They are the ones that get rich. I would still suggest getting a degree, but then start a business, and maybe get an MBA on top of it later on. Working for someone else get's old.
  5. We might be getting one of these for my office. It can actually print molds that can be used as casting forms. Check out these printed parts
  6. When I went to visit my Z at the body shop after it was painted, the body guy came over to me and asked me how many girls had danced on the roof with high-heels on. He was totally bitching about how difficult the roof was to get right.
  7. Sleeves are made by Timesert. I can't remember the part number but do a search for them in HybridZ and you will get a part number. They are cheap. I have a set in anticipation of a future conversion.
  8. Is that a 240Z in the background at 1:00 in the video?
  9. Best bet is a mechanical boost controller or an electronic boost controller and not using the MS for boost. Stock L28ET turbo injectors are 270cc/min..I have a set for sale.
  10. I can actually watch these at work and not worry about the boss. It's pretty closely related to what I do. Nice videos. Thanks, Vin.
  11. When people hear global warming, they expect weather to get hotter and hotter. That's because of our general tendency to be short sighted. The path to global warming is an ugly one. In this case it's not the end result that we need to worry about, but it's the path to the end result that will kick our a$$es. We already see changes in micro climates that will be followed by changes in macro climates. I still don't think humanity should take full blame for the changes. Are we that egocentric? There is so much finger pointing going on. Human nature. Good luck there in NC and CA and everywhere else where adaptation is already beginning to nudge the unaware. Nomex, a kayak, relocation, beer...those will buy us some time.
  12. Wow, good luck everyone out on the left coast! I will be at zcar to get news, if this site drops out.
  13. Im thinking more, LS9 swap with rear magnetic-drive conversion....maybe when my son turns 16 we can make it a project.
  14. Drumroll Please..... We bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L. Nimbus Gray Metallic with, light gray leather. So that's what it's like to fly first class! 7 big cushy leather seats with a zillion cup holders and compartments. It is such a cool extension of my living room. It's actually only about 21" longer than our Subaru Legacy Wagon (for sale) but has more interior cubic feet than a Chevy Suburban! I will take some photos tomorrow. The dealer had at least 50 Odyssey's hidden out in their back lot. They are desparate to move them out. We took this one for almost $6000 less than MSRP. It had 7 miles on it when we test drove it. Now it has about 50 240hp and 19/26 MPG. 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds! This is a stock photo of what our interior looks like: Thanks for all the advice. Based on the way it runs and drives, we made the right choice. Depreciation is also minimized just because it's a leftover and it's a Honda.
  15. I believe they fit but I think you need some wheel spacers. Buzz has Supra wheels on his Z but they are Momo aftermarket Supra wheels. He uses a 1" spacer in the front and 1/4" in the back I think. The spacers might not be needed with stock Supra wheels. Bolt pattern is correct.
  16. Clive, you have a disease, or shall I say, dizeezzz's. Can't you go one week without buying a Z?
  17. I just found this cool website if you are into art and design. http://www.designboom.com
  18. I drive good. I keep a copy of this book nearby: "Basic English revisited: A student handbook" http://www.amazon.com/Basic-English-Revisited-Patrick-Sebranek/dp/0960531203/ref=pd_rhf_f_i_k2a_1/002-3244068-1762460 My English teacher waaaay back in HS made us buy it. It will answer just about any questions you have about proper use of the English language. It's very easy to use and quick to reference. It's invaluable, in my book. Some of the most common topics: It's vs Its ; vs , brother's vs brothers' vs brothers Their vs There good vs well y vs ies It also covers writing letter, essays, paragraphs, sentences.... It even makes a great coffe table book. Usually people pick it up and spend at least ten minutes laughing at how much they thought they knew, but didn't.
  19. We drove an 07 Odyssey tonight and it feels much more like a car than the Sienna did. My wife really liked it. It also feels, and probably is, a bit smaller than the Sienna. The dealer showed us an EX model which is second in the lineup. The sticker said MSRP 29,500 and without even haggling they offered it to us for $24,600. I still need to shop but it seems like a good deal.
  20. Thanks to you guys, I have been able to convince here that AWD in a minivan is probably overkill. We are going to test drive an Odyssey tonight. I can't believe how many "flood cars" I've run into from Katrina, and the local flooding this Spring, while doing my minivan searches. I love when one salesman said, "It was totalled due to flooding but we fixed it and it's still under factory warranty until the manufacturer finds out it was totalled!" WTF are you kidding me!
  21. After driving the Sienna last night, my wife felt like she had no control over it. She has only driven stick shift for the past 12 years and the automatic combined with the "bus" made her feel uneasy. We got back into her Legacy and she called it sporty! I suppose she is right when comparing it to a minivan. We could live with the Legacy Wagon and see what it's like when the boy can climb into the car himself. Conversion vans are really nice but I can't see her DD'ing one. David, there is a hill that you need to drive on to get to my house and I gaurantee that studded, front wheel drive cars will NOT climb when it is snow covered. Going down is even worse. It's lined with stone walls and curves about 75 degrees at a 25 degree pitch into a one-lane bridge. Everytime it snows, the road is basically closed unless you have AWD with snows and skills. The road is usually the last road to get plowed and may take a day or two to get cleared after a big storm....all this for $10K/yr in town-school taxes! yay. Although the serenity and privacy of the area makes it all worthwhile.
  22. We want a larger vehicle to keep all the "crap" in it. Every time we go somewhere we have to shuffle stuff out of the house and rotate what we need and what we dont need for that day. I would like to bring EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE. The Bikes, windsurfer, both strollers, my RC Plane, all the stuff that goes along with kids...and the such. I will also gain room in the house by leaving all the kids travel gear in the van. SUV's generally have higher step up and narrower interiors due to the wheel size and ground clearances. They also suffer a little in gas mileage. Nothing compares to double sliding doors! We also like to camp, so we could take the minivan, pitch a tent, put the seats and stuff in the tent and sleep in the van, watch a DVD. even on a rainy day camping would be fun. LOL. I thought about not needing the AWD but my wife is not convinced that she would make it up our local hills if she had too without it. I think two wheel drive should be fine because of the sheer weight of the van but she would need some convincing. We do get about 4 to 5 days a year around here where you get caught at work during a snow/ice storm and need to make it home. It can be pretty nasty with all the hills and cambered roads in my area. I really like the Honda and I will suggest to my wife that we test one. She is a Honda fan anyhow. Whatever we buy, it will be pre-depreciated! I am not taking that new vehicle slap in the face ever again.
  23. Yes folks, there comes a time in your life when you need more vehicle. My wife and 9 month old son are tired of hitting their heads in the roof of our Subaru Legacy Wagon while loading the car. It's an '01 Wagon 5 speed AWD with only 54K miles. We need more space. We went looking for AWD Minivans and came across the Toyot Sienna line. We went to the dealer and checked out an 07 Limited AWD, it has Navigation, backup camera, adaptive cruise control, power everything, DVD player, four zone A/C, 10 speakers, and enough room to fit my livingroom. I was amazed at the thing. It also can tow 3500lbs. It just might even tow a 280Z to Limerock Park or The Glen. The problem is that the sticker was $40K That pretty much ended all the fun. NO WAY can I spend nearly that much on any vehicle, nevermind a minivan. Then I see that I can get an 04-05 version of the SAME vehicle with like 25K miles on it for about $23-$25K. It seems to me that the 04 and 05 have little or no difference from the 07 other than the slightly larger motor. The 07 can use regular gas, whereas all earlier models required premium. My wife would use it as a DD but only drives about 20 miles/day. Any thoughts or recommendations in the world of minivans? We really like the bells and whistles of the Limited Toyo Sienna's but are they reliable? SUV is out of the question. They just don't make any sense to me as we don't offroad. We need AWD for our driveway, hilly local roads in the winter, and ski season. I bet I can fit the Z inside the Sienna! Hold the minivan=oldguy jokes
