I really appreciate everyone input. I'm not necessarily looking for internet approval, rather I'm looking to hear feedback from people with experience. I've concluded that the S30 is not the right car to have as a street-able caged car... in the pics I posted its obvious that newer cars allow more head room and more space to mount a roll cage with out any issues with head room. I've decided to go with a half cage for my purposes. Thank you everyone!!

Does anyone have any experience sitting in a seat similar to this?! With a taller rear upright and the side head bolsters I am hoping that if I had a full cage, these side bolsters would limit my head from smacking the cage and instead restricted my head movement... and the bolsters/support are cut away to improve visibility?!

Excellent point about the foam John! I cut a chunk out of my frame rails and even though it was "sealed", there was still surface rust inside of the rails. It would be close to impossible to clean all that off INSIDE the rails to get the foam to stick.

I bought a roof for $100 delivered to me today!! I found it from a local guy who titles his business as Datsunofthebeach.. what a deal. Discovery Channels "HD Theater" now airs all rounds of the World Rally Championship.. if you have comcast or dish network you should be able to get the channel. This started last year around November.

John, Teaching in school requires 2 basic things.. a professional who has the knowledge in the material being taught and a professional who can properly explain the material in a way that everyone can understand. An effective text book will have a textual description followed by some sort of graphic. (Picture, diagram, chart, graph, etc)Visually this is how people learn. Its a very effective way of observing and understanding the information. After looking at the pictures posted in this forum, I have learned a wealth of information that quite frankly, I wouldn't have been able to without the use of an excellent visual. Imagination is something that can be poorly misinterpreted.

For those of you who don't know what a thrust augmenter is .. here is a quick diagram. Thrust augmenters are commonly used on jet engines and pulse jets primarily to provide additional thrust. I however am thinking a little bit outside the box here, primarily to help evacuate the exhaust and reduce the overall pressure in the exhaust system. Imagine a thrust augmenter on the tip of an exhaust system, something small that can literally bolt on... it would be interesting to see if adding one would 1) reduce the overall pressure in the exhaust system 2) have any beneficial gains (like running an open exhaust) or am I dumb On a side note, im not looking to create extra thrust .. any thrust if produced would be so minimal it might be enough to pull 3 bumble bees on a matchbook sled tied to fishing string.

pictures are worth a 1000 words.. sometimes all it takes is a picture and it saves a lot of typing and is a superb visual for everyone to learn from

John, this is a very interesting thread. I know your the king of modifications and pictures and documenting everything.. can you post up some pictures or describe in a bit more detail on reinforcing the firewall?!

I believe if you did all the work yourself, took your time, paid attention to detail and took 4 years building the car it would seem affordable lol. having it all done by a shop at a hourly rate plus supplying the money for the parts is well.. for the wealthy =)

jeesh, sourcing a 2 groove pulley is tough!

Is the tank less then 1/4 full?! sounds like fuel sloshing around. OR a loose wire or fuel pump mount that cuts the electrical connection. walk around the car and check all fittings and connections.

dang.. they even have reflective silver/gold/blue !! how cool would that be to have a shiny metallic reflective blue car.
