  1. Hi Mike, Check the universals on all 3 driveshafts and while rear wheels are off the ground , spin the wheels separately by hand to see if diff gears are alright. Neil
  2. Since you guys were discussing RB26 HP you might like to check this out. http://www.exvitermini.com/r33specs.htm Theres a link at the bottom of the page to their home page for video footage. Neil
  3. Unfortunately Zline your suggestions don't apply in Aus. 1 280ZXT are as rare as rocking horse S?!t here. 2 Our S12 came with solid axle to the best of my knowledge. 3 Our Z31 Turbos didn't come with LSD. Neil
  4. FYI Pinion Nut Torque R180 123 to 145 ft-lb R200 137 to 159 ft-lb Neil
  5. Heres one for the captain obvious file. German Couple have been married nearly 8 years and haven't had any children, so go to specialist to work out why. Specialist asks how often do you have sex? Couple look blankly at each other and dont know what he's talking about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! True story Neil
  6. Quadcamz You can also use the Z31 turbo birfield type shafts ( not available in aus) with an outer flange conversion, a variation on the link you posted. You can convert shortened 200sx-240SX axles with the 200SX-240SX inner tripod CV and an outer 280ZX-Z31 outer tripod CV with outer tripod style companion flange. For use with Viscous LSD centre. Ive done the drawings for adapters for either end and axles but due to health issues I haven't achieved much in the last 4 months. When Ive assembled the S13 viscous centre in the long nose housing and completed and trialled the axle conversion I will detail it in this forum. Sorry for the suspense but life never goes the way you want. Neil
  7. Quadcamz I would still pull the companion flange off and check shaft. As to LSD centres it depends on your budget, clutch type you have got a couple of US companies then Nismo, Kaaz, Cusco, with different types, clutch sizes and breakaway. Then Quaife in a helical type at about AU$2000+. Make sure you quote model, year and ring bolt size when ordering. Adelaidejap currently listing a 4.4 Viscous R31 on their website have previously had clutch type; note these are used so you dont Know condition. Check Parts Peddler mag for other importers that may be closer to you and easier to talk to. Neil
  8. c14silvia you may find this post has good info. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.phb?name=PNphbBB2&file+posting&mode=reply&t=19020 Neil
  9. Hi Quadcamz You would be going to bend a pinion shaft , more likely a bent flange after your dyno experience, pull the flange and check shaft with dial gauge if you have access to one and get another flange if thats the problem. You didn't say whether you are already running R200 or what drive shafts you have. The following info relates to Australia. 3.7 is available in 79 280ZX man with early driveshafts. 3.9 in 82-83 280ZX man with CV driveshafts. 3.7 in Z31 Man-Auto you need 280ZX R200 CV driveshafts. 3.545 in Z31 Turbo you need 280ZX r200 CV driveshafts. These are all open diffs that you would need to install LSD centre. R32 Skyline are all shortnose requiring major mounting and driveshaft modification. R31 skyline import GTS, very rare, has independant rear which may have what you are refering to. Some of the importers like Adelaide Jap may have an LSD longnose but usually in shorter ratios like 4.3. Neil
  10. On the simple side, air filter clogged or rubbish sucked into intake. Check afm for free movement of flap. Neil
  11. hi Paul 65-72 ft/lb 88-98 Nm 9-10kg/m Dont forget to clean threads and apply loctite Neil
  12. Too right mate you got the sickness real bad, always best to let the fever take its course. Eventually it will settle and you may even get to drive it. I like it without too, when you paint the car you may consider highlighting it with a darker accent of the paint colour that you choose, like the 70s Dodge Chargers used to have. Neil

    R200

In US sold as 240SX. Neil
  14. Your out in new territory here. 300ZX parts info doesn't list the yoke seperately. http://www.300zx.lv/catalog/?gr=f&sec370 Propeller shaft assy 05/94- MT 37000-30P10 alternate part -VP010 You may be able to measure or try a 300ZXTT yoke at front half cut importer or salvage yard. If 300zx prop shaft comes as an assy the 350Z will probably be the same. Good luck. Neil
  15. Dont know about price US. Early cars 1600cc- later high windscreen 2000cc. Watch out for rust in bonnet, bootlid, boot, floors and scuttle in front of windscreen and under dash. Heater core and heater-tap, worn Hitachi carbs and suspension components. If it gets past the above check, all lenses and surrounds which may be hard to replace. Would be an ideal car for a later nissan 2lt engine swap. I had a lot of fun driving my bosses car years ago with worked 2lt motor with SU carbs. Like any car its not what it costs, so much as rebuild cost before you enjoy it. Neil Google search Model No SP311 for more info.
  16. oooh how long is that piece of string. Brand? New-used? Bolt on? Splined centres with Knock-offs? All chrome? Stainless spokes? Alloy Rims? Genuine Ferrari Borrani's with concave hand and spoke three eared knockoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well do tell what price did you get them for? Neil
  17. Production date 13th day of the 12mth of 1978. Neil
  18. Wrong mike 1st or Reverse for emergeny park. 2nd or 3rd for push start. Ebrake is one of the simplest devices on a car and like normal brakes shouldn,t be left unattended if there is a problem. Neil

    R200

Hi Frank If it is R200 you should be able to use the pinion flange off another late R200 model. My Z31 flange and S13 flanges both had the same spline and are about 4in dia. I was going to use the Z31 because I can get driveshaft, to modify, easier and cheaper. Neil
  20. Thanks Maichor, At least with pics members can now see how physically larger the R230 diff actually is when they are looking for it. There most certainly has been some confusion over these two short nose diffs. To those that have access to Skyline diffs maybe we will get them clarified eventually too, I'm working on it. Neil
  21. Whoa steady up there SleekZ dont want you falling off any high horse. I have that pic in my collection of info, many thanks, but one pic shows no more than that it can be done in LH drive as well as RH drive as we in Aus know. Yes we need someone to provide more tech info. On the issue of sumps, the later engines now available in half cuts have the forward sump, are other sumps available? Because a 280zx has the rack behind the front cross member and clearance could be a problem. I was going to get my front cut through Toyospares in Bayswater and the guys there have offered lots of help with any additional parts I may need, has anyone else dealt with them? Quadcamz what was the issue with the auto shifter, because that yellow GTO convertable runs the toyota 4 speed auto. Someone has actually used one of these engines in an aeroplane. Good to hear some Aussies in the forum. Neil
  22. Yes!! I am going to use one in my 280ZX, there's one in an Aus GTO replica and GTO convertible, there popular here because of light weight and availability, also a couple of companies doing 5 speed Supra kits. http://www.bulletcars.com do a supercharged version in their MX5 (Miata) rebuild claiming 320kws instead of the standard 190kws. Neil

    Headers suck.

Hey guys Do your US 82-83 280ZXs run power Rack and pinion because the box is beside the rail not above it like the drag-link type. This should provide more clearance if the steering shaft angle doesn't get in the way. Neil
  24. Hi Wayne 6 bolt flanges are larger Pcd I hate to say it but it might be easier to onsell your your Moser axles, get shorter axles made to suit 5 bolt CVs and make a 5 bolt outer companion flange adaptor. Neil
  25. Mike I'm doing the same with tripod shafts and you need to heat treat to soften the shaft area to be machined then do machining , respline and then re-flame harden. Which is why it is easier to let an axle company do it, that has the expertise. Neil
