  1. Amen! When real world expirementation are avoided 99% of the time it is not true. But I will say that small rims and bigger sidewalls do have a gripping advantage... for the straight line or drag strip. As for all that sidewall being more useful in high speed autoX.... Prove it. I think this argument is very silly because 18's are NOT THAT BIG! Hahaha. Everyone here acts like we are justifying the performance of 20+" rims! Haha!
  2. The ride has alot of downtime usually thats why the line is long... It has an exstensive safety system on it. When winds pick up, the ride wont run. If bad weather is FORCASTED, they wont start the ride untill the forcast changes. The launch also malfunctions alot, as in after alot of runs itll be down for 30min-1hr for maintence. Hey guys though I would say its defenetly worth it... Kingda Ka is accually the current record holder for the fastest and tallest coaster. Its in New Jersey, It is designed very similar to top thrill dragster but is 50 feet taller 7 mphs faster and has a gravity hill. Alot of people perfer top thrill dragster because of the restraints. On top thrill they are only lap bars that you hold onto. On kingda ka they have bulky over the shoulder restraints. The top thrill restraints make you have alot of freedom to move your body around...
  3. ... Im running 245/35/18's on my 260z
  4. Haha this is what ive been trying to say leon. Sidewall on autox = BAD. Conclusion: 15" rims lots of sidewall = Drag Racing only 18" rims Very little sidewall = AutoX and daily driver use... Well I guess it is possible to run a 15" rim with small sidewall...
  5. You can make the contact patch the same as a bigger rim, you just have to run a huge massive sidewall tire...
  6. I have been told all that sidewall is unneccessary when talking about autox. Infact that is said to "slow you down".
  7. I see what your saying jmort... but i think bartman is talking about the increases of performance in AutoX as all that extra tire hurts performance...
  8. 18" rims really arent even considered large! You guys act like we're talking about 24" rims...
  9. The question is though how much of an impact do smaller rims really have? I heard is something like a 8% difference... Granted the faster a car is in the quarter mile the more of a difference it would make. But maybe a .2-.5 second disadvantage? Also on the injected performance car... I wonder if they swap out their brake setup for smaller rotors because it APPEARS that the rotors/calipers fill up the entire space... I couldnt imagine how they could fit a 15" rim around those. Maybe wheel spacers?
  10. Mmhmm. Alright then I stand corrected...
  11. Ive been on the ride! My god that thing is a blast to ride... I would say the launch is the best part... When I first rode it the launch was so fast I didnt even know what was going on until the coaster crested the top of the hill...
  12. Agreed. There are MANY high performance cars with 18's from FACTORY. Look at the 350z! Look at the 370z!.. Look At the Nissan GTR. Here is a local 350z Im sure those 18" rims REALLY slow it down going 8 seconds in the quarter mile! Haha! They need to upgrade to some 10" rims!
  13. So would you say this is the perfect rim size? They are 15's! Less rotating mass.
  14. There are alot of lightweight racing rims that are 18"...
  15. This is what I was thinking... But he did say he wanted ZG flares...
  16. You can "slam" a car further to the ground with smaller rims like 16's and no sideskirts. Me personally I like my rims 18" or 19" More room for brakes... But what ibang was saying... If you have side skirts you dont have to drop the car as far to make it look slammed. The extra couple of inches a side skirt gives you can allow you to fit a bigger rim.. These are 19's on a z...
  17. Im running 18's as well.... Theres plenty of room. Theres a few people running 19's even. Well, 2 that I know of...
  18. If you dont run an intercooler... problem solved.
  19. At UPS Items over 70 lbs are either loaded after the shift or if they are waiting on trucks to arrive/very slow during the shift.
  20. Yup They are pretty much undetectable to the untrained eye, but yes they are fully functioning turn signals!
  21. I love what I did with my turn signals... I purchased autolocs integrated clear turn signal headlights and used that as my turn signal... Is very bright and I am very happy with my purchase. Although I will say they require modification to fit in the stock headlight metal bucket mount. need to do some very minor cutting on the inside mount if i remember correctly, but you wont be able to tell even if you look up under the car...
