  1. I was going to say, try to buy one of the other z's. I can assure you if your frame rail is that bad, your just getting started finding rust. It will be worse, WAY worse. I know from experience.
  2. I guess that makes sense, I would much rather have my EFI anyway but see I learn things from being ignorant. If I had happened to get carbs then I would have learned the hard way I guess.
  3. Does the stock exhaust really get THAT hot? I wouldn't think it would, I figured since it doesn't matter on a 280z why any different 240z? The EFI changes it that much?
  4. Please try to search and use a more descriptive title. Try nissan, msa, or a junk yard, search the classifieds. If you aren't doing a resto you don't need it. Not going to hurt anything.
  5. I have problems with the bumping dozens of threads myself. I have one for sale thread with all of my parts. Nobody replies to it because it only stays up there for a matter of minutes when somebody does this. It is just labeled as 280z parts because that is what it is and nobody knows the specific parts inside. I think it should not be allowed to have multiple for sale post that come up at the same time. If they are totally different parts maybe but you can keep things in one board. I really need to sell my parts too because I need the money to get the 240z that is stripped in my garage running. I have 2 months or it goes to storage.
  6. That's cool if you can do body work, Like I said I wasn't trying to say you suck at everything or anything like that. Sounds like you have a plan. Like I said I may be able to get a donor roof for you but I don't know where you are located shipping probably isn't the best option.
  7. I just thought about this for like 2 days. I have a 280z that I could take the roof skin off of. Then I thought, he really doesn't sound like he knows what he is doing. I personally think you spend your hard earned $$ having a reputable shop do the job right. No you can not stick weld it, you will just get crappy welds and blow holes everywhere. Plus you will be warping the metal all over the place. If you don't want to spend the money put a sun roof back in it and do your best to keep it from leaking. Not trying to say it's a bad thing your new at body work and welding (not so far off my self) just trying to keep you from making mistakes. Stick welding a roof on with very little practice just isn't going to happen.
  8. For those lines get a hold of the company you purchased from and shipping company because that is BS!
  9. Don't operate the vehicle because it's dangerous? Sure sounds like it. Be careful with that car! Pictures really help. Frame damage = do not buy.
  10. Well, I just purchased a 1972 240z shell that is pretty much rust free. I am going to swap engines and wiring and stuff. Got lots of work ahead of me but this car will be stripped and crushed unless somebody wants to come take it when I am done with it. That means after it is completely stripped if somebody thinks they can fix it come and get it. This isn't a come get it and crush it your self. So in about 2 months or less if you want to spend lots of time on a 280z I can point out all the rust I know of (Lots) and you can take it. That means no, well maybe, you show up with a trailer or tow truck or something and you take it or I won't bother with you. Will be posting new thread for 240z. Pictures tomorrow. last titled in 86. 90k miles, 500 dollars. Floors repaired, quarters in 80's, rockers done. I thought the dash was crack free but there are two cracks that are less than a millimeter in width on it. VERY hard to see.
  11. BAHAHAHAHA sounds like Justin to me. Did you think about the battery Justin? The random Y splices are factory believe it or not. The white ones go to the fusible links. Replace them with maxi fuses.
  12. Armor all actually really helps keep it from cracking. It puts moisture into the dash, there actually is science behind those products not just "Lets make the dash all shiny".
  13. If your oil pressure was that low yes you would risk damage to the engine. Is it? No, mine does that too, it's on and off, the gauge just doesn't work anymore because its old. Get a cheapo ebay mech. gauge.
  14. http://www.justdashes.com If I remember correctly they quoted an AE86 dash at $600
  15. You call that reading? It was jumbled up engrish and who knows what else. I had trouble understanding, but more than I understood with just the pictures. Helps piece it together a bit more.
  16. http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwide-open.hp.infoseek.co.jp%2Fs30z%2F9th.html&sl=ja&tl=en
  17. That sucks, I saw the console was broke. The wiring is gonna be a pain to get back all good. Hopefully they didn't tear the engine up and it is just ecu stuff. Can't believe they ripped the light harnesses! Where did they get food? Was it at least a decent place?
  18. Yay, hoping its still in one piece and at the very last in good shape. If its depressing don't give up man. If there is anything I can do to help you rebuild it then let me know. I don't really think I have any parts that would help you though.
  19. Lower. I know I know, sounds to low, its not, I have bought 2 of these now. I offer low on all of the ones I look at. Looked at one today, guy was asking 1000. wasn't worth 200. Was crashed so hard the drivers door didn't latch, it was hit on the passenger side. Had bad frame rust hidden under bondo (yep just gotta know where to check sound and magnets do wonders). The frame on the passenger side was so twisted it was easily visible. Upper and lower radiator supports were trashed and the passenger fender was obviously bent. The owner told me "I didn't notice that". Claimed he had it since 97, got it from his son cause his son owed him money. Had about 3 parts I wanted, not worth it. Point is, be careful. You seem very new at this, means you are less likely to notice stuff. Don't take this as an insult I am trying to help you out. These cars have things hidden everywhere. The things people do over 35 years to sell cars over and over. One owner has it, gets rusty, bondo, pop rivets and random metal then some quick paint. Sells it to the next guy, eventually the guy finds out but its gotten worse. More bondo and random crap, sells it. Along comes you and this chain is continuing. Just have to look very well. Don't just see but observe.
  20. I saw that, it has an air dam so I didn't think it was yours. Also the exhaust and rear bumper is different, do say they have 9 others so I would get in touch?
  21. I was just searching craigs list. Nothing, sorry man. It's possible so call this guy and question him just don't say stolen car. Ask if he has any other parts and stuff. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/pts/1675152356.html It's just a front bumper but it's off a 72 and it could be off your car?
  22. I think he means like going to the strut towers.
  23. Fuel cut offs, no steering wheel. Boot is a great idea.
