240z and 1974-1978 taillight question
ModernS30 replied to mijanto's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
That's what I was thinking too. I was wondering why everybody was telling you the other way. Reading the first post I thought it was 240z to 280z lights. I didn't know you could put 240z lights in a 280z with out an entire rear panel anyway. -
Wow, that's a dream now but then you still needed the bills to do that.
-
Once I get my vanity its gonna be ryesir.

I knew that was coming. Haven't done it yet, said when I am rich. I think I really want to chose a series 1 just to make a point. Mostly that a car is a car, plus its not your car. Does that 260 have the frame under it or is it just axles and chassis mods? That's something I don't know and I honestly don't think you do either. Not bashing just saying its hard to say, I think if you put the 4x4 frame under its not hacking if done right, but that brown 280z up there, hacked. The 280zx, not so hacked, its a bronco frame with a 302 IIRC.

To be honest, the company I work for (tire/wheel company) sells wheels that don't look bad at 60 a pop for 15's I think. Like 15x6 or 7 are like 60 a wheel. They are called SevenX or something. Not very pretty but better than stock and lighter. They hold up fine, you get what you pay for, that's why VOLK cost 2000+ a set.

Sorry about all that happened. That really sucks, my grandpa had an anurism and I almost lost him recently. He is home by now but I am so sorry. I hope everything works out. Talk to your teachers in advance, tell them whats going on. If they don't understand pull the. Well, I don't care if your son/father/loved one dies you had better be teaching this class no matter what. You know cause that's just wrong if they wont let you have a few classes off.

I am sure if you looked there is a build. Sorry to say that was a stupid question, youtube is a source, so is google, so is this site. Honestly search for it you most likely will find it. Once I am rich from making custom parts for cars (give me a few years) I am going to build a full R34 skyline drive train powered 240z, a series 1 if I can. Yes, that's right, I am going to "Ruin" a perfectly good Series 1. Why a Series 1 you ask? Because I CAN! I will give you what I know of that 260z, its got a full chevy truck 4x4 system under it, I am pretty sure it's close to 600hp (Note the smoking 4 slicks) and I believe its 2 solid axles. Please, PLEASE, lets not use the word you used in the first post here "Hacked" or hack or anything. Around here we don't "Hack" Cars together. We do it right, or at least to the best of each individuals abilities with money, skills, and tools as 'our' main constraints.

240z8's '71 240z Chevy V8 Project
ModernS30 replied to 240z8's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I told you put the V8 in the green car. Just do it, should take like 2 days once you got the engine assembled and ready. How much wiring could there be? Is it a manual choke? You need starter wires wired, that can't be very hard. A few sensors like your thermostat and you transmission sensors. I am just saying, you were saying you are going to need a car to drive, sounds like a good idea to get one of these running. Get a good set of headers, maybe you already did been a while. I just think you need to pick one, clean it up paint the pay real quick and then get the swap done. Meanwhile driving that car you can get one of the others ready and go more into it. You really don't even need to get off the steelies if you just want something to drive. I guess at least your making progress. -
I did see a 2+2 back there. Like I said, CALL HIM! Monday-Thursday I think its like 9-5

My dads dually has one.

Need help with sizing wheels for the 240z
ModernS30 replied to Manniacz's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
You probably wont get those to fit. What is your backspacing on the wheels? Most Z's need a negative offset wheel to fit decent. If your lip on the rear of the wheel fits you might be ok. The best way to find out if they work is to go and just bolt one up. If you can get them to fit you will have to do some trimming of at least plastic just to make sure they won't rub. The lip on wheels comes from a negative offset. The main reason I say they won't fit is because the offset, I run 0 offset 14x6.5 inch wheels. My wheels are pretty flush with the outer edge but I would like to push it a bit farther. You will probably hit your suspension. EDIT: Also, "4-lug" doesn't mean squat, there are different bolt patterns. For example Z cars and many nissans like 240sx are 4x114.3 meaning that there are 4 holes 114.3mm apart from each other. 5x114.3 are 5 holes 114.3mm away from each other. Get the idea? -
You could have some factory option package or you got it from a guy who did stuff to it. Air dam, spoiler is a kinda rare factory one. Wheels are factory option already told you that. The quarter window louvers, seen them not ones that look like those even though I am guessing they are factory. Door panels look almost mint which is a super A+

Hopefully I get up there sooner, I am willing to box up seats for you just not sure on shipping. He said he can ship stuff guys, call him.
-
Please just cut me a break, I am kicking myself for it. Because of my time and stuff and the other guys I only got to look at the car in the dark. I did get under it and look, it was all smoothed out and undercoated so it looked nice. Found out today the passenger fender on the bottom was WELDED! to the car. I got it from HLS30Turbo on here.

Yea that isn't it there. It is right across the street from a school. Sorry it's kinda hard to figure out, the roads there are VERY confusing. It took me a bit to find it. Was only 7 minutes out of the way for me on the way back anyways. I have permission to post his number online and inventory the lot, meaning taking pictures and such. If I get time I will try to just walk through and take a picture of every car. Also I have an idea of taking tally of each car with a paper with every year and model of a Z on it. Not like each package but you know year and 280z or zx or whatever. Just walk through and tally each car. Maybe write interior or not. He told me if he crushed one he took it apart and put the parts in/on around a car exactly like it so you could walk to the same type of car and it would be there if it's what your looking for. I have never seen such a thing or that many z cars in one place. (Never been to a z meet or nissan meet or anything like that). I can get you an overhead picture of the place just give me a minute.

Relax dude, you just didn't understand what I meant. I am fine with taking inventory and making a profit. He meant like sell them for much higher prices. I work man, I understand the profit for your work and everything. I just mean lets not get stingy and just because somebody can't get there to actually pull the part themselves and get the guys low price. Don't increase prices to something where its not helping anybody else because you could get it for the same price closer or something. I do plan to get back and take pictures and try to get an idea of everything he has. That way I can help you guys out. If something cannot be shipped by him I may be able to get it for you and ship it. I don't think shipping entire engines is going to happen without some planning. Same with whole cars. I am not sure how may of the cars don't have titles or are bad titles. He said he has been doing this for 30 years. I am all for somebody labeling every single car and part and having a book of it but that would probably take weeks of solid time alone. I work, I am in school, I am a busy person, its still a 4-5 hour drive for me alone.

I spy with my little eye a BRE air dam. Requesting better pictures from the front.

I will sell you some brown door cards so you don't cut up those nice black once. Get the 9x6 box setup by your tail lights there if not. Cutting up nice door cards like those is illegal these days.

Tell me about it? haha, I was like, WHERE HAVE ALL THESE CARS BEEN HIDING AND HOW!?
-
You heard me right guys. I found the holy grail of Z cars and Z car parts. Guy even has a mail box with a Z on it! Only open Monday - Thursday. No computer at all, just talked to him, sounds like a great guy. He is willing to ship. He has 2 Warehouses stacked to the ceiling with parts! Plus he has OVER! 200 cars! Nothing RHD but lots of 280zx 300zx 240z 260z and 280z stuff sitting around there. This guy has so many Z parts I think I made the greatest discovery of Z Parts EVER! I feel ever so important right now so Please acknowledge the fact that I was the person to find this and give me credit. I have a few pictures from outside the gate. Was there when he was closed. Just to give you an idea, you should have seen me at the gate, I was jumping up and down freaking out. Remember he doesn't have a computer, so that means no email or anything. He offered for me to come through and inventory the place and sell it on my own as in buying it from him cheap to turn around and make a profit off of you guys and I turned that down to post here. Please don't turn around and do that to us here since I didn't. I want to make this a place to get EVERY part we need. Now I was given permission to post up his phone number, not sure what kind of heavy stuff he will ship but he has full cars engines, turbo cars, just cars everywhere. He said he has run out of space for cars. Like I said OVER 200 CARS! His name is Mark he used to do full body work and resto's from what I understand but now he doesn't have enough time anymore he is just a part time mechanic on later model cars. Here is his contact info. Oh and the best part his, at the end of his call he said Zee ya. Zee Works Auto Enterprises 4501 East 4 Ridge Road, Antonia, MO 63052-2711 (636) 942-3846‎ MONDAY - THURSDAY! PICTURES! (I know they suck but better than nothing WHEN I get down there again I will snap better ones!) Also remember these are only what I could see from the front gate.
-
Haha, believe me, I know. My firewall on the passenger side was 3/4 bondo.
-
1NONLYZ is definitely the MAN for z parts. He is super friendly, totally fair guy and he gave me great prices on the stuff I purchased from him. Met him in person, bought parts off of him. Was invited to his house for a xmas party and all. GREAT GUY!

1977 280z Daily Driven Project
ModernS30 replied to ModernS30's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I AM FREAKING GITTY WITH EXCITEMENT! I happened to be over in MO for some stuff. I am in Cuba, MO right now. Going to be heading back to Indiana tomorrow. Browsing craigslist near here. 1972 240z shell, 295. I see floors and stuff. Battery box looks solid. Stripped down so I know I will be able to see all the rusty spots! Its only 27 minutes away from me or something. OMFG! I am buying this thing. I am going to buy it, rent a u-haul. Pay my dad a bit o gas money for the extra waste from the trailer and car. I am buying it! Sorry for the grammar here. It's freaking 3am where I am, which makes it 4 for what I am usually in. I am up on craigslist and I found a 240z shell. I can afford it. Its not even CLOSE to how rusty my car is. Its CHEAP AS NUTS! and I can even afford a u-haul to get it back to Indiana!!!! I can't help but post up on here. I have been busting but working on fixing the rust. Here is a shortcut. 280z wiring into 240z. Rewire lights to work. L28 and EFI into 280z. 280z front sheet metal on 240z, hatch, quarter windows. One problem is the door striker issue. I am going to have to find some 240z doors. Good news, 240z doors for sale in St. Louis! Maybe a double whammy? If not I will figure it out. The point is though, I want this car, I am going to be stubborn and force my dad to head that way because the reason I am out here in the first place is because we are here to get body parts for his race car! What do you guys think? Still has the l24 and 4 speed but the head is off and everything. Basically ready for it to come out with the picker. No dash, no wiring, hope it has tail lights or I am going to be pulling a custom. everything missing so I can get down and into detail with the rust. Just have to go buy a screw driver unless there is one in my dads truck. So I can poke the undercoating and sound deadening stuff. The prone areas just because it is a rust belt car. I am not sure what I am thinking right now but OMFG! I need somebody to be online and reply just so I know somebody heard me that's how excited I am. I forgot to add, the asking on the car is 295. I will be offering 200 if it is in the condition I think it is in! -
Look's ever so to familiar. Those large chunks of bondo will become your worst nightmare. I know from experience!
