  1. 17 years old, cutting floors out of a car and just all the rust and repairing a car many would deem unrepairable or just plain old not worth it. Plus I am planning on bed lining the underside with something like xline or rhino liner and doing a full suspension build once I save up enough cash! I work over 20 hours a week (only have 4 classes in school) and bust my *** trying to get enough money to pay for my car.
  2. Yes, it will fit, they are the same car basically. You might have to do some modifications. Its cheap, its bolt in? If you flip I almost promise it does you no good. I don't think it was posted on here but a mustang with a bolt in cage flipped. The cage punched through the floor doing absolutely no good. Luckily the two people in the mustang came out unharmed. Me, not a fan of bolt in roll cages. Weld them in, do them right, do it once and live when you crash. Do it wrong the first time and you might not have a chance to do it again.
  3. a running z that has no firewall does me no good. Swapping an engine and wiring harness over from a running car to make the other car run is something I would be willing to do. It would be less work than what I am going through now.
  4. Why after I move? Seriously! I move and a good z seems to pop up for sale! GRRRR
  5. The 280z they crash is different. It has turbines, the first one has iron cross wheels. Unless she went to the shop real fast before crashing it.
  6. That's what a well built cage is supposed to do. Is it a moly cage?
  7. You may also want to know that all year z's came with the manual. Automatic is an option that is actually a little rare.
  8. sounds like rings or valve seals. I would look into other links posted here as well.
  9. just use the 4 speed and pedal box from the other z and do the manual swap while your at it because it would be a waste of time to go back and do it later. Looks pretty good.
  10. Well, if starter fluid didn't make it fire, you have a spark issue is what that sounds like. I sprayed starter fluid into a car with bad injectors and it fired up. You could check your timing and everything. You are sure your getting spark at the plugs? Unbolt a spark plug and crank it over watching for spark. This means either you crank it and somebody watches or somebody cranks and you watch. There are so many things it could be its not even funny.
  11. I am pretty sure I go to school with this kid. Not kidding.
  12. =( I am disappointed, much rather have seen a VG30et.
  13. So this is gonna sound weird but I LOVE YOU! I have the same rust areas on my car, except I actually think I am better off. Today I have been finding more stuff to help me fix it! Super stoked thanks for posting this up. Was the firewall and battery area hard? That is my main worry? It looks difficult and I am sure it will be I am worried about cutting up near that frame rail.
  14. Thanks for the responses guys! I am in high hopes of starting my floors soon. I like the look of the floors being high up there like that, it should let me get lower without as many worries. The only thing I worried about way my head hitting the roof. I am only about 5' 10" still growing but can't be much cause my dad is 5' 7" and my mom is 5" 4" so I shouldn't end up 6'. I had no clue how I was going to make the floors fit close and everything till I looked at how you did it. Hammering it down like that is a great idea. What is this "weldable" paint that was mentioned? I would worry about the overlapping material on the metal getting rusty on the inside. I am assuming this is to prevent that. Although most moisture would evaporate upon welding. Then making it a air tight seal with some sort of sealant should stop this issue. I am not sure if it would or not. Definitely watching this thread though, interested to see how this car turns out!
  15. Is your coil good? Check all of your grounds. Go through with multimeter and make sure the wires have the correct voltage. Check the wires over and over and over and over. Make sure your distributor wires are hooked up right. One wire not on the dizzy and it won't work.
  16. I have one question. How tall are you and how does your seat mount work out? Is it super low to the floor? I know that when I put my racing seat it I was to close to hitting my head on the roof.
  17. Man, I like how this went from new floors and rails to a tubular cross member and a 1uz!
  18. That's what I am sayin. I want to see that car! I must, and in person. Can I haz ride? haha
  19. We so need to meet up so I can check out this z.
  20. The kit I got came with the rack bushings and everything. The steering coupler bushing. Just about all of them from what I could tell.
  21. Looks just nasty to me. I wouldn't spend 20 dollars on it!
  22. Oh I see, I don't think there should be a problem but I guess you never know. Better to know before spending $$ on wheels.
  23. Pretty sure it will clear. The ID on these wheels has got to be pretty big. I don't think the calipers are that large.
  24. I'm pretty sure the toyota brakes clear most 15" wheels and some 14" ones. Look at the sticky. It will fit though.
  25. super spiffy. Not digging the rust fix though. Please don't do that, I found that crap all over my car and it caused it to get worse. You wait a year on that and it will be worse. Buy the 90 dollar panel from zstore.com, drill factory spot welds and weld it back in. then just paint it the same way. Shouldn't look bad, just tack it at the factory spot welds.
