  1. Got what I need, thanks for all the offers. Admins please lock/delete thread.
  2. I think its amazing somebody managed that out of a 280zx. Its unique, its not your car, so who cares? Maybe somebody on here should fork over the cash to put it back to stock? haha... right...
  3. If its running buy it, even with no harness you can go MS3 for a decent price. I know, I know, you don't want to deal with all that wiring. It would probably be worth it. Especially with the reliability and power gains off the bat. Then get a decent turbo and exhaust set up with a 60mm 240sx throttle body. Good power, easy. That or you could spend quite a bit and go with a Haltech or something.
  4. Just did a quick scroll of all the pictures. Great resto mod going on here. Your going to have a like brand new car here. What about the suspension and brakes? Replacing/rebuilding any or lots of it? Maybe poly bushings, new struts, springs, and repaint it all? Sorry if I missed you saying something about this.
  5. Nelson is, I believe he is, I don't remember his screen name though, sorry.
  6. I had one but it was chipped on the edge kinda bad so I threw it away. Sorry.
  7. Do not take this as formal as this is from a race part dealer and not the machine shop I will be talking to (different race part shop). There is a shop here selling billet aluminum brake brackets for midgets and sprint cars. I am pretty sure they are about 15 a pop, this is for Wilwood or similar. Keep in mind, something like that may be a possibility, all that has to be done is corrections for the caliper bolt spread and making sure they are centered. I ordered a reman caliper and new rotor to get the bracket made and test fit everything today. I still need to go by the machine shop, I need to have my father with me as he knows the guys pretty good and should help with getting a lower cost. As compared to me walking in there by myself. No matter what I am going to have 2 made for my self. I just want to test fit first. Like I said, the idea is to just make these cheap quality parts for people. The disks from the zx, although a decent performance upgrade. Are really just an easy of maintenance upgrade. If I do get these made they most likely wont have emergency brake provisions. I was going to see what I could manage with the factory emergency brake bracket, similar to what Big-Phil did.
  8. Previous owner hack job wiring, majority of stereo installs, bondo, flat heads, 50 thousand different sized bolts when you can use almost 2 or 3 sizes in different grade to put the entire car together. Axle coupler bolts where a wrench can only be turned a quarter at a time. Fart Cannons, Honda in general, lack of room to do certain tasks. Emissions bs in the way.
  9. Nelson has an ET, or at least he used to, was in an 81? I think. said it would need new seals and cleaned up though. Been sitting a while.
  10. I have to go by the machine shop first, the biggest issue will be material cost because that is a large chunk of metal. I was thinking aluminum but I am not totally sure if that would work out alright.
  11. I understand that part of it. I am just trying to figure out if I can get them made cheaper, would people be interested. I need them made for myself. I am probably just going to foot the bill to make the for me anyhow. That being said, if I can get a large run made and make them cheaper for me and sell the others then that would be good. I am going to need to buy the calipers and rotors. I ordered the wrong rotors the ones I need cost more than twice as the rotors I ordered. As soon as I get rotors and calipers I will have a braket made, just one for a test fit first. If it works I will post up pictures and a price for the number of sets I would have to sell. Then maybe we can get a list. After I would have already made the test bracket I will have to figure it out. I am not sure I would be able to just strait foot a bill for so many brackets and then have people possibly back out on me. EDIT: Just figured before I get flamed for this, I do understand that the people backing out is just another part of the game. How business works.
  12. EDIT: got it to scale size. It is in inches, fits proper, thanks!
  13. Hey guys. I have the dimensions for the brakes that would be needed for disk conversion on the rear of a s30 z. You would use 82-83 280zx rotors and calipers. There is a local shop that does CNC work and I was considering seeing what I could get one made for to test fit and see how everything would look. Before I go about spending this kind of money. How many would be interested? No commitments or anything. Just if I had oh say 25 or 50 sets made. That would be like 50 to 100 brackets total, CNC aluminum, would I have enough interest to sell them? Not sure on price yet, I have to go over to the leaders edge and talk to the guys and see what it is going to cost me for just a test run.
  14. I never knew the leaded gas thing. I run 87 in the z. No issues, no pinging, runs great. 91 made no performance difference. Completely stock 77 l28 made 118whp.
  15. Hopefully somebody at the recycle place will wise up.
  16. I think you should just try to find a mustang? Looks like that is what you want. Either way, good luck, hope it come out how YOU want it.
  17. I can't really help you with those parts but I can say maybe you should get like an exhaust adjust valve. Like one that you turn to try to fool the emmisions? I don't know how well those additives work but you could try something. Car looks clean.
  18. No problem. Its just the engine and transmission but I will get you the craigs list link. I believe it is in Indianapolis. Being this is where I live, I may even be willing to go look at it/take video and pictures. Just have to get time to do that.
  19. What somebody needs to do is talk to the truck driver. If you can get the time, if I could I would, follow him out to where it is being crushed. I am sure the crusher would sell the car for a little more than what he will get out of it for scrap. Means he gets more money. If not it may just have to "Fall off" the truck when it was loaded on the back. LMAO. I would be working a deal with anybody I could to at least get the parts off it. Everything I could. Thats what drives the prices up is the rare pieces getting crushed like that.
  20. I'm pretty certain no z car ever ran on leaded gasoline. If you think about it building an l24 would just be kinda a waste of time. I don't know if you know the saying but "There is no replacement for displacement". You should be able to find an L28 around Detroit easily. At least I would think you should be able to. I will even take the liberty of looking around a bit for you. I know there is a running one with a 4 speed still in the car for sale with 75k for $400. Guy even offers for you to come drive it, but that is in Indiana, not sure if you are willing to drive. Keyword searching on craigs list is important. I believe it is a Diesel Maxima crank (V07), 240z rods with arp hardware, and single cam KA24e flat top pistons that make a 3.1 liter stroker. That is with a L28 block of course. Don't quote me on this though. Just do a decent rebuild and get the car running. Then you can figure out what route you may want to go.
  21. Figured it out. Can you guess? Lots of WD40 and yea. had to cut one bolt off.
  22. Now when you want to drive it on a road trip you are going to have to unhook your speedo so it doesn't count milage! haha totally kidding.
  23. Bad news. Some how I actually snapped the 240z stub axle? Yes, it broke, how? Idk. Also, somebody please help me with this. The stupid back part of the stub axle wont come off the half shaft. It is litterally like it is welded to it. Nothing seems to break them apart, it only breaks other things. Big issue is I need the 280z ones, but I can't put the 240z one back in now due to it being broken. So how the hell do I load the 280z on a trailer? Another setback. Maybe I should just talk to my dad and see if I can just get a 240sx rear end and fit it under there. Would give more opportunity for modification with ease as well. Any ideas? Hammer and stuff doesn't work. Like I said, just somehow ended up breaking the 240z stub axle.
  24. Is your aim posted in your profile? I really love the Impreza. One bad thing about mine is its throwing 11 ECU codes. All the 02 sensors speed controls, air fuel ratio, and idle control valve are "bad" but the car runs fine. Honestly don't think they are bad I think it is one of those. TO MANY MILES! REPLACE THESE THINGS! codes. Its only got 175XXX but it runs like a champ. Takes a beating too. EDIT: I forgot to mention. Its EJ22, 5 speed, 97 coupe if you didn't notice that much.
  25. Cheap daily 4 seats and fun? Good mileage? Impreza base model or something. Heck, you can get an 04 sti for around 21,500 or so with upgrades. STI's are super nice. I know you don't want that old so I would say just go for a newer one, I think the older ones look much better though.
