  1. Its rare i actually laugh out loud at stuff on the computer, especially in the computer lab. Transformer, sweet crap was that hilarious (being as there was a zxt transformer). Also, did anyone notice the STEEL gold nugget wheels painted yellow? SHARP. My god, i almost cant believe its real. Evan
  2. Hey bud, where exactly is troy at. When my car lived in the burbs of chicago, i passed emissions with flying colors. No v8, but a totally untuned (almost undriveable) L6 I did the same thing with my turbo motor. They are very lenient with our cars. I didnt even HAVE a gas cap and they passed me! Let me knwo where you are, and if your close ill tell you which station to go to. Evan
  3. Hang in there bud, things will get better. Transitioning definitely sucks, but sometimes things happen for the better. No freinds? your nuts dude, the z community is just that, a community. Start attending car shows, and make an effort to go to z related events. You will thank yourself, and have experiences you wont forget! At 70k a year, sounds like the z needs more mods!! 10s or bust LOL Evan PS, if you dont have any shows or stuff like that going down, start a club. I gaurantee there are more than you in that situation!
  4. Well the saleman assumed that I was crazy and didn't know jack about cars. Have you ever seen a remote started vehicle hit someone, or climb a 3' high concrete wall? I have, so maybe your second sales man was the person who didnt know jack. I mean no offense, but dissing on someone who is refusing a sale for a justifiable reason (because it is not safe) is unfair. I have installed several remote starts btw.. Evan
  5. Scottie, rumor has it Jay Carter has a propane injection kit in the works as well. I took what you said to heart about possible bad gas in a turbo motor, so i will probabally do propane injection as insurance. The kits not released yet, but should be soon, he discontinued the alchy kits. Evan
  6. Alright guys, after some thinking on things last night (late) I decided that I was NOT loosing boost through the radiator, but it seemed like it because coincedentally, the thing started blowing steam one time. I think thats fine, i hope it is because this motor has 3k on it. Electrasol huh? Ill give that a shot. If i cant get it figured out I wont be able to make it most likely I opened the radiator cap, and there is sunflower seed looking crap in there, i wonder if some dumbass rodent didnt store stuff in there for the winter last year! That would explain things. When I opened the cap last night, it made steam of most the coolant, but the wierd thing was that the remaining coolant SLOWLY drained past the top down into the rad.. this is where i saw the mystery debris. I may take it out and try a backflush Evan
  7. Guys, heres the deal. My car overheats in about 5 minutes of driving time. Steam pouring out the overflow etc... I replaced the HG in hopes to alleviate this problem tonight, and it didnt do crap. Its 2:30am and I need to get this solved tomorrow morning/early noon. Before the HG swap, I was blowing coolant out the overflow tube under boost. I dont think its happening anymore. Any ideas guys? give me what you got, im desperate. The only thing i noticed is that my radiator seems to be full of junk, needs to be flushed. Its an MSA 3 core. Could this be my problem? HELLLLLLLLP. Thanks - Evan
  8. I can describe the racket of the essex pump only as someone using a coffee grinder at 5am right next to your head. I cant hear it too well in my z, but it is way too loud. Evan
  9. Have to disagree about delco plugs sucking, I wont put anything but in my turbocharged GN. Granted it is a GM vehicle. If you want really nice plugs, buy NGKs from your nissan dealer. The build quality is better on those plugs than parts store plugs. Evan
  10. Shane, i understand your concern. The design is somewhat weak. The pump WILL chew itself up if its not primed, or darn close. I have my pump mounted below the outlet of my tank, and never have any problems. Fuel pressure builds like flipping on a light switch. Crappy design yes... the reason I know is I got my pump from a camaro guy who had a couple shoot craps because of the way they were mounted. Personally, I hate the pump. ITs too frigging loud. Evan
  11. BLKMGK, and others. The paxton, sx, aeromotive, are NOT designed to lift fuel. They have to be mounted lower than the outlet on your tank, or they will end up going bad. These pumps need to be primed by gravity to work properly. Evan
  12. Ron, do it. Nice stuff. I had a set before the coilovers and quite honestly think they were better for street use. I bought a set for my GN too. Evan
  13. Ron, remember how I said I had no problems with coolant blowing out? Welp, i didnt knock on wood and figured out today why my motor runs so damn hot. Hmm, no coolant? yep. Looks like I will be investing back into a felpro and not using the no-seal HKS unit. SUCKS, im pretty pissed. Evan BTW, i havent tried a retorque yet, but doubt that will cure it.
  14. Rich, I thought you had the larger cored unit like i have. If its a bottleneck in my quest for 350+ RWHP, expect to see it for sale with all the plumbing! Evan
  15. Red spark is not good, should be blue or white. I would start troubleshooting the electrical, or buy an MSD6al, or the crane hi-6 to bypass the factory fun n games. Evan
  16. www.carhoods.com Carry three hoods for a z, stock, cowl and HUGE cowl. Evan
  17. Lockjaw is right, ive stripped tint alot (i tint windows) and that works the best. The ammonia softens the tint, it peels off with almost NO cleanup. Evan
  18. Alright guys, I pulled my L28t outside yesterday and backed up a hill and parked the car. I was sitting watching it idle when I saw my mechanical oil pressure gauge going up, then dropping and going back up. A minor blip of the throttle brought the pressure up, but it was varying between 20/40 pounds of pressure. I freak out, and assume its because the cars on a hill, i roll it down the hill to the bottom, bout 10feet and check the oil. the dipstick says the pan is EMPTY! I turn the motor off, look in the oil cap and see everything appears to be lubed well and theres no dry anything. I then proceed to dump oil into the car (still thought it was empty) check the oil 15 sec later and the damn thing is over full! WHAT is up with this? I am baffled, and a bit concerned. Is it possible my oil filter element is coming apart and blocking up something? Its the gold filter from carquest (i worked there, good filter). If you have any suggestions i would apreciate it. The only thing different is that I just applied boost to the motor three days ago, its seen about 75 miles and this is the first time this has happened (that I saw). Thanks guys - evan
  19. K&N makes a kit for the carbs dude. Are they the SU carbs? if your handy, i would consider making an airbox and running ducting to the front of the core support to a cone filter for nice cool air. Evan
  20. Donna, just a suggestion. Put compessed air to the cylinder, and pull out your dipstick and feel for a breeze. If its not there, check your coolant passages etc.. cant hurt to check it out before you do a teardown. You may want to try to find a mechanic with a boroscope to look in the motor and check for scrached cylinder walls or stray debris. ORR, just bite the bullet and pull the head, but once your that far.. you know how it goes. Sorry to hear your having probs, my total seals are fine as of right now. Evan
  21. I am currently a student at WIU (western illinois university) bout two hours from Patsun, we need to hook up sometime! This summer I will be going to colona IL for dyno tuning, your more than welcome to watch my engine blow up! LOL I have about a year left, and have no steady job right now. Well I kinda do, im up to my ass in alligators when it comes to body work/ performance work. I am going to make it a career, hell you only get one chance. I am also in the process of buying a house.. dang responsibility. Evan
  22. Early z su carbs will out perfom a set of dual webbers any day of the week. The intake design is pretty wicked. The only weber carb nice for a z is the triple setup, thats fun tuning time, but may be worth it. Evan
  23. Ive seen the elbow in the tank setup before, looks like its begging to get ripped off by some animal or somethin. Just beware, if you are running low on fuel and bang a turn HARD you may starve your fuel pump. Keep your tank at least 1/3 full I would think. This stuff applies more to fuel injection than carbs, but just wanted to point that out. Evan PS.. I used the FI tank from a 280z in my car if you were wondering.
  24. I lost mine, and have tried like every thread i could find to no avail. Im frustrated, if anyone knows the size, or better yet, has an extra LET ME KNOW. Thanks gents - Evan
  25. just found this site. dont know quality but you can get stock or two different cowl hieghts. http://www.up22.com/ Evan
